Maybe it’s the Calgary air…Ted Cruz, breath of fresh air

The Canadian born Ted Cruz announced he would seek the Oval Office on Monday and what a breath of fresh air Cruz is compared to some of what we have to deal with from Canadian politicians.
Cruz vs. Kathleen Wynne, Harper vs. the Media Party, Canadian values being lost. All that and more on The Brian Lilley Podcast.

  1. I watched his speech at Liberty University. It was a classic conservative tract, delivered professionally. Imagine Me as President!
In truth, the Republicans have several very good potential candidates – Walker, Jindale, Cruz, Palin. Of course, the Republican establishment is absolutely opposed to these people. They will be toast if they go with Christie or Bush.

  2. if a rino candidate is the final candidate the republican party is dead. no questions. there will be a third candidate for a third party!

  3. Senator Cruz doesn’t have enough experience to realise his full potential as President if he is the next. Anyone would be better having had experience of executive office than just as a legislator. Governor Walker is better equipped to be President starting in 2017. The best option I can see at present, if it gets elected, is a combination of Walker for President with Cruz for Vice-President. Then hopefully Cruz for President after he has had one or two ternms as Vice President. Getting a better look at the job from the inside an administration will just equip him better.

  4. My spidey sense tells me that the GOP will nominate a for sure loser, such as another Bush, in order to assure a Hildebeast victory. Lord have mercy on us.

  5. I hold the same view on this as you do. Governing experience is important and I think a Walker/Cruz ticket would be best.
If Cruz does end up being POTUS, he is sure to surround himself with the right people and to take their advise. It’s good though that Cruz has jumped in. I think he will shape the contention for GOP candidate in the right direction.

  6. Yeah,I’m betting on a Bush/Christie ticket.
Interesting that Cruz’s Dad fought for Castro against the Batista regime. The guy, Cruz Sr., epitomizes the American success story, actually worked for a living instead of going on welfare.
Now that the Leafs don’t look to be poised to win the Stanley Cup this season, I figured there was nothing to live for, but now that the GOP has Cruz,Bush,Christie, etc. running for Prez, there are the Republican leader debates to look forward to.
I wonder if Dick Cheney can be talked into throwing his hat into the ring too.
Whoever wins, remember to be nice to Hillary, don’t mention Benghazi or anything…..

  7. Wow. Nearly a 50 year drought of nothing to live for. Oilers are just on a start to that, Katz has the biggest schadenfreude since the global warming pause

  8. I hadn’t heard some of those comments from the Canadian media about Prime Minister Harper’s gun comments. To someone living out here in rural Manitoba, the comments of the media people are genuinely astonishing. Have they never been outside of a city? Have they never stood in a field and seen nothing but clear horizon in every direction? Have none of them ever come across a rabid animal that’s wandered into the yard, and suddenly realized that even if you’d wanted to call for help, the closest person is five miles away?
Ask a farmer whether his gun is for protecting his farm. He’ll look at you like you’d asked whether his tractor is for pulling things. And then he’ll shake his head, smile, and say, “You must be from the city.”

  9. Nearly 50 years
since the leafs won the cup
And Edmonton has tanked ever since Katz bought them
    Simple enough

  10. You ask, “Have they never been outside of a city?”
Yes, they have. They have gone to their cottage in the Laurentians and over a few lattes discussed how to continue screwing the nether regions outside their little effete world.

  11. Why are you telling me? I don’t even follow sports.
You can go to any gaming thread here back in the archives; Grey Cup, Stanley Cup, Super Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Hula Bowl, Toilet Bowl, World Series Baseball/Soccer, Olympics, Tiddley Winks, Crokinole, et al and you will not find a comment on them by me.
    bread and circuses

  12. Cruz seems likeable enough and conservative enough. However, the fact he was born in Calgary ought to disqualify him from the Presidency. Yes, I know John McCain was born in Panama, but he was born on an American naval base, which is American soil. So McCain is a natural-born citizen, and Cruz is not.

  13. Both his parents were American citizens and according to the legals on FoxNews that makes him an American citizen and eligible.

  14. Cruz’s father didn’t become an American citizen until 2005. He was a Cuban when Ted was born.
