Yesterday I received an email from my second cousin who lives near Kassel and he writes that they have not yet had winter, but they had snow and colder temperatures on December 26.
Accumweather has slightly below normal temperatures of -3 to -5 for today for the Paderborn area. Normal for the area for winter is much like Chilliwack, B.C.
So, is this type of storm normal for the French alps and if so is it newsworthy just because it came when people were holiday traveling? Not being a climatologist I suspect that this storm has nothing to do with a AGW or cooling trend, but is just normal weather.
we have had green Christmas. some very pleasant weather for travel. all the snow is gone, unfortunately by Wednesday we will see double digit minuses. back to winter.

I am in my seventies and I have seen extreme cold, extreme warm, extreme wet and extreme snow. some years are worse than others and will continue as long as we inhabit this planet. this Christmas was just great weather wise. last year we had snow up the wazoo and this year it was green and mild. the weather network says this is about to change and I have no doubt it will. I also have no doubt that all the money in the world and CO2 reduction will “FIX” anything other that your ability to eat, after all your wealth has been squandered by your “superiors”.
