ISIS, The Inside Story

Brought to you by the Guardian, who are apparently, also on the inside.

Abu Ahmed was an essential member of the earliest incarnation of the group. He had been galvanised into militancy as a young man by an American occupation that he and many like him believed was trying to impose a power shift in Iraq, favouring the country’s larger Shia population at the expense of the dominant Sunnis. His early role in what would become Isis led naturally to the senior position he now occupies within a revitalised insurgency that has spilled across the border into Syria. Most of his colleagues regard the crumbling order in the region as a fulfilment of their ambitions in Iraq – which had remained unfinished business, until the war in Syria gave them a new arena.

An interesting article, nonetheless. (h/t Frank)

  1. Complete removal of cancer without damage to the rest of the body is the goal of treatment. Sometimes this can be accomplished by surgery, but the propensity of cancers to invade adjacent tissue or to spread to distant sites by microscopic metastasis often limits its effectiveness.
A disease such as this, requires early detection, aggressive treatment and often complete removal of the affected cells, before they can expand to other areas which would eventually lead to the demise of the whole entity.
    ISIS is a CANCER!

  2. I don’t believe a lot of what I read about the ME. What goes on there under whatever name has been going on for centuries. Blaming American action in Iraq for ISIS is ignoring history.
My guess is that the Saudis have funded much of the trouble throughout the ME and around the world. Their version of Islam is radical and aggressive. IMHO all the refugees from Syria should be settled in Saudi Arabia. Canada should most definitely NOT take ANY of these people. Their belief structure is so alien that there is no fit.

  3. Yeah well, the Saudi’s are stirrin’ the pot…..
In reaction to Iranian pot stirrin’
In the aftermath of Gulf II Iranian backing of the Shiites was the primary problem in Iraq. The Saudi’s more or less stood aloof…..even when the surge crushed the AQI.
Iranians are not backing ISSIS….Shiites don’t back sunnis. Sunni Saudis are another matter.
The IS phenomina in Syria and Iraq are more or less a proxy war between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

  4. So,ISIS and/or other radical extremist Muslim groups fester away in the prison camps we send them to in hopes of ….what? Rehabilitating them?
I know here in Canada, the U.S., and EU, we often send criminals to prison and they come out fully rehabilitated and reformed in their ways, with almost none reoffending, ever.(!)
So, why don’t we put CSC in charge of the prison camps in the ME? With their proven success rate this crisis should be over within two years!
Or we could just make sure there are no prisoners, fight fire with fire, so to speak.

  5. “Or we could just make sure there are no prisoners, fight fire with fire, so to speak.”
This is why the DemocRats are so in looooove with drone strike aircraft.
    No. Witnesses.
DemocRats, having decided 1984 is a manual and not a warning, also forget the lessons learned by the SS in that ancient war nobody talks about anymore. Lesson is: you better win.

  6. I think even many of the Saudis are having second thoughts?
But Qatar seems to be in the middle of it. Hamas, Taliban, ISIL all seem to have safe haven for their political faces in Qatar.

  7. ISIS barbarians beheading kids typical for a backward bunch of heathens and Obama sells them weapons If there was to be another Neremberg trials Obama should be tried for Treason, aiding and abbesting the enemy abd Crimes Against Humanity

  8. ” Life with Isis means power, money, wives and status ”
In other words, it is a desirable job in an area that has few.
The pay is good, and the qualifications are easily met.
You may not always agree with the boss, and you may have to do some unpleasant tasks, but it beats squatting in the dust hungry and forlorn.
Poverty and ignorance are the sides of the coin that make ISIS a desirable option. Islam is the one flipping it.

  9. “Poverty and ignorance are the sides of the coin that make ISIS a desirable option. Islam is the one flipping it”.
IMHO, it has always been Islam in general that has been largely propagated by taking advantage of poverty and ignorance.
Promises of rivers of milk and honey and virgins (for the dudes if they do the ‘right’ thing) look pretty good to someone who was born and raised in some total shithole with no education, no food, medicine or hope for anything better.
Islamic ‘fisherman’ teach that life on earth sucks but a better existence awaits you if you just conform. That’s the hook and that’s why it usually happens that the poorest, least educated and those who have little to live for embrace Islam. At least that has been the way up until a few decades ago. Now, it seems to be becoming fashionable for some young people. I can’t imagine what goes through their minds – or lack thereof.

  10. “..US-run prison provided an extraordinary opportunity. “We could never have all got together like this in Baghdad, or anywhere else,” he told me. “It would have been impossibly dangerous. Here, we were not only safe, but we were only a few hundred metres away from the entire al-Qaida leadership.”
Just like downtown Calgary or Toronto.

  11. This whole thing with a virulent conquering Islam has been going on for 7 centurys..it is not a new thing people. and I agree it is a deadly cancer, one very difficult to erradicate as can be seen in my home country, the Netherlands along with Britain, Spain, Germany, Denmark, Sweden etc where Islam has taken a dangerous foothold ant hreatens to destroy Europe…or should I say Eurabia.
Ya know, to me it’s not the uneducated idiots that populate ISIS…that worry me, it is however the sly, educated, highly intelligent sleepers througout Western Countries that have been here for decades & that have infiltrated various levels of Government & Academia (at least in the US – can’t say for sure but highly suspect in Canada as well – but l;ook at who is Justins adivisor.??), and those insiders quietly perpetuate the BS of The Religion of Peace – as can be heard everytime Mohamed Al Masry opens his yap among other so called “Moderate Islamic leaders”. Yappin & preaching about how ISIS has nothing to do with Islam. as if.
Nothing but Taqqiya…Deception…it’s in their books as sancioned by Allah as long as you are working to promote Islam.
This coupled with mass immigration from Africa from the Middle East likely urged by said 5th colunists has greatly increased the danger in my opinion. Not sure what was wrong with European immigration or those from Argentina or Brazil…?
One can see the effects in the US and elsewhere. They use our Democratic open society to pursue their goal. They use Political Correctness aided and abetted by the left and the MSM to slowly destroy any vestige of Christian values and morals..and supplant them with Islam. Witness the comments from pretty much anyone in the US administration..”ISIS has nothing to do with Islam” uhuh.
Of course the Multi-Cult / Diversity majority will howl with protest Screaming Bigot and Racist at those of us (self included), who say so….right up to the point the sword strikes their neck.
Walking around – EYES Wide Shut.
As such..what is going on world wide is this: The Muslim Brotherhoods “PROJECT” – the Takeover and subjegation of Western Civilization by so called “peacfull means”. While we focus on a bunch of yahoos called ISIS running around IRAQ and Syria.
Here’s a few damned good reads that will enlighten you to no end..
