  3. I find this interesting and a bit surprising (your mileage may vary): The actual size of Greenland compared to Africa, and Russia to Africa, without the distortion of Mercator projection.
    I knew Greenland was waaay too big in Mercator projection maps but I didn’t realize by how much, and it didn’t occur to me that Russia was similarly (if not equivalently) oversized.

  5. 7.3 percent tax increase for the taxpayers of Saskatoon. 7.4 percent was last year’s tax increase. I for one have had enough of this from this tax and spend city council. Fire Murray Tolland, the city manager. Who by the way makes more than the guy who manages the city of Vancouver.

  11. Interesting to note that Justin Trudeau went on the air today (CBC, CTV etc.) claiming a Liberal victory after losing the seat of Whitby-Oshawa to Pat Perkins.
    Even more interesting to note that Trudeau himself, the son of a past prime minister, has never accomplished anything close to what Pat Perkins did last night.
    In last night’s by-election, Perkins received 17,033 votes out of a total of 34,605 confirmed ballots with a lead of almost 3000 votes over the Liberal. That works out to 49.2 % of the pop vote.
    In Papineau, 2011, Trudeau received 16,429 votes out of a total of 42,772 confirmed ballots. He only received 38.4 % of the Pop vote. In 2008, he won his seat by only 1189 votes out of a total of 42,735 votes. And yet his cohorts made him the leader of the party.
    Hilarious to see that his occupation is listed as ”Teacher.” I think ”teach” needs to rewrite Math 101!!

    Definitely not a Conservative loss or a Liberal win, no matter how they try to frame it. It’s almost funny watching them try, though.

  15. Americans’ assessments of their personal freedom have significantly declined under President Obama, according to a new study from the Legatum Institute in London, and the United States now ranks below 20 other countries on this measure.
    The research shows that citizens of countries including France, Uruguay, and Costa Rica now feel that they enjoy more personal freedom than Americans.
    The freedom scores are based on polling data from 2013 indicating citizens’ satisfaction with their nation’s handling of civil liberties, freedom of choice, tolerance of ethnic minorities, and tolerance of immigrants.
    Of the eight categories in the index, personal freedom was America’s second lowest performance relative to other countries. The U.S. had its lowest ranking when it came to safety and security (a broad measure of how threatened citizens feel in instances such as walking late at night, or expressing their opinions) — ranking 31st out of 142 countries.
    But regardless of how the U.S. compares to other countries, there is no denying that Americans felt less free in 2013 after four more years of Obama’s presidency.

  17. Why is the media not talking about Trudeau’s booting out two of his MP’s for unproven allegations?
    Why are they not seeking comments from them, hounding them at their homes or anywhere they can nab them?
    If this were an action by PM Harper they’d be drumming incessantly on it.
    It’s another insight into the MO of Trudeau’s Butthead backroom strategies, it there’s a problem just disown those involved, shove them to the curb.
