Only one conclusion can be made.
The ‘medical’ marijuana didn’t work. I hope his family can find peace at this time.

Anyone who has never consumed cannabis is definitely unqualified to tell anyone how bad it is for them.

I guess not refuting other peoples’ arguments by saying that they have no merit is the way to go. Typical leftist thinking, all you’re missing is the name calling.

Doowleb, interesting to get your experience with marijuana as an anti-nauseant, appetite stimulant. Without getting too personal, how long ago, roughly, was your transplant? Had you used or tried any of the newer and/or atypical anti-nauseants such as ondansetron, diclectin, aprepitant, chlorpromazine or iv erythromycin? Did you use the cannabis in pill form? Genuinely interested to get your perspective. Thanks.
Transplant was over 5 years ago.
Always administered through smoking. It may be of interest that when using cannabis while ill I never got a ‘buzz’ , simply relief from the nausea. After the transplant the hospital drug specialists then recommended I discontinue as they feared lung infection because of my compromised immune system. Some improperly harvested pot can contain dangerous fungi. My entire medical team was aware of the cannabis and at no time did I receive any countervailing advice to stop. It was easier and simpler to access it myself and the doctors were relieved to not have to “officially” prescribe. The medical staff was happy with the results but equally happy not to have to deal with the prevalent attitude of ignorance as illustrated above. My liver damage was caused by Hep C which I unknowingly carried for over 30 years. After the transplant I received a years worth of Interferon treatment which was also successful in eradicating the Hep C. A very lucky fellow am I.
Those that say cannabis is addictive have obviously never used it and are talking through their hats. Those that state that it’s a gateway drug would then also have to tell us that alcohol use will also undoubtedly lead to drinking rubbing alcohol under bridges. Since law enforcement forces cannabis buyers to interact with the dredges of society for access ( who invariably also have dangerous drugs and narcotics), worse outcomes are bound to develop.
I’m in no way advocating for unlimited recreation use of any drug, but feel that there will always be those among us that cannot control themselves. There is also no doubt that some cannabis does cause paranoia. This is overcome by simply purchasing a different crop.
“I know not one person who has had a hangover, let alone a “crushing” one,EVER from smoking pot.”
Well, now you do.
As with almost everyone my age, I smoked up occasionally in the 1970’s. The last two times, smoking home-grown weed rolled in front of me by people who weren’t adding “things” to it, I had two of the worst hangovers of my life. The depression and anxiety were acute, to say the least. The second time was years later confirm the first time wasn’t a fluke, and although I was dumb enough to do the experiment at least I was smart enough to take it easy.
Such things are not common perhaps, but they most certainly happen. People are not all the same, you know.
SSRIs are likewise notorious for creating catastrophic effects in a small percentage of patients. Some people just shrivel up and kill themselves when given SSRI anti-depressants. Its in the news all the time.
Heads up for those of you feeling under the weather, Lemon Balm and St. John’s Wort from the health food store are both SSRIs. The first time you take either of these herbs, you take a SMALL, and let me emphasize —SMALL— amount. As in, MUCH LESS than the dose recommended on the bottle. If you’re going to be badly affected you’ll have skin prickling, hot flashes, cold sweats, and you’ll feel like you got hit by a truck. It reportedly wears off after an ugly couple of hours.
Again, an uncommon reaction but one that I have personally seen happen. Don’t try it at home, kids.
As for the other things out there, here’s three words to conjure with: cocaine induced dementia. One more thing I can’t un-see, thank you medical training.
My point is, the difference between Dr. Loki prescribing medical-grade THC and etc. for chronic pain and some doofus trying a couple of tokes on top of beer and medication because his life sucks is quite large. Loki knows what the hell he’s talking about. He’s obviously done the research, he’s got real world experience with real patients, and he can tell if they’re reacting badly or not. Most likely he’s also seen SSRIs go wrong as well.
That’s why we have doctors. Because they know stuff we don’t know.
Recreational drugs of all kinds are BAD for you. It doesn’t take a genius to see that, just take a wander through the rough part of town and view the wreckage that drugs make in people’s lives. Maybe alcohol is worse for people than pot, I’d say that could go either way as the science progresses.
People generally tolerate both well enough that government prohibition of either is a bigger problem that the booze and pot themselves will ever be, but that doesn’t alter the fact that the stuff is not awesome and smart people lay off it. There are easier/safer ways to get laid than pickling your brain so the ugly chicks look better.
In my estimation the jury is still out on whether prohibition of cocaine and heroine etc. is more damaging than the drugs themselves. I think it would help if the administration of justice in this country was more about Justice and less about social engineering, politics and taxes.
Doowleb, thanks for that.
With the current commercial suppliers, the fungal contamination issue should be greatly reduced.
Shall file your experience amongst my arsenal should the need arise.
