way too much nonsense. what climate do we want? heck I would like it to be sunny and about 80 degrees f. everyday. I would like it to rain only at night between 1am and 4 am. I would like that 365 days a year. now back to the reality of a planet that circles the sun with parts that are permanently cold and some that are moderate and some parts that are desert. I wish people would realize that we cannot control the climate. we can dirty up our water, our air and our soil, but to say we can control the climate puts us in the category of a god. God we are not.

The Neo-Malthusians saw human population rise from about 1 billion to 6 billion in the 20th century (now 7.3 billion) and were convinced the globe’s biosphere could not sustain the population. They “knew” the only way to save the planet and humankind was through controlling how we all live. They knew that in an industrious prosperous world built on oil, “he who controls the oil controls the people”. Then the hockey stick was the icing on the cake. With that one picture, every person who saw it regardless of their scientific background could see with his own eyes man’s activities were clearly responsible for the rise in global temperature. The hockey stick more than anything else instilled in EVERYONE a sense of urgency. The hockey stick was a godsend to the Neo-Malthusians. Now all they had to do was convince the 7 billion people on Earth to surrender their liberty, freedom, way of life and national sovereignty to a bunch of Neo-Malthusian government backed overseers to save the planet and the human species. They stole a page from the book of Revelations and used apocalyptic predictions of catastrophe and fear as their primary tools to try to “persuade” us how to live. But it would take time to convince 7 billion people to give up their freedom. And as time passed, it became clear the hockey stick wasn’t quite what it first appeared to be, temperatures stopped rising, the ozone began to heal, polar ice stopped melting, global crop yields continued to soar and set set new records, etc. And after about 25 years, the whole house of cards is either on hold or starting to collapse.
As with ALL things political and governmental, IT HAS NEVER BEEN ABOUT CLIMATE! It has ALWAYS been about increasing government tax revenues, and wrapping that desire in a warm fuzzy blanket of palatable bull$#!t so we the sheeple wouldn’t rebel at our ever-increasing tax burden. As others have said for centuries, it is always about the money … so always follow the money.
Hopefully you are right about “the whole house of cards is either on hold or starting to collapse”, as at the moment the supporters of this massive fraud are still moving ahead with stifling industry, resource development and implementing us living in caves and eating grass policies.

If I remember correctly, the Rio Summit in 1992 got the ball rolling with deliverables such as the “Rio Declaration on Environment and Development”, “Agenda 21” and “Forest Principles.” Our own Maurice (Mo) Strong was a big part of it, pushing for much of what has occured since.

I agree with just about every comment above in it’s entirety. After skimming the topic article, I guess my mind is now closed to the scam known as climate change and only scan most information about it. The confusion I drew; was the author still assumes something needs to be done.
Something should continue; which is the steady and proper reduction on pollution as we are accomplishing in Canada; avoiding the draconian alliance of self-interest groups and bureaucracy in the U.S.A., which is against the law, and being tolerant of developing nations attempting to bring their citizens out of squalor and pestilence as China and now India is attempting to accomplish.
Education will triumph in the world if the self perpetuating bureaucracies will not continue to misrepresent and dumb down to the Lumpen level.
One of the significant evolutionary moves in civilization advancement, prior to the American Revolution, was Benjamin Franklin developing the subscription library in the 1830’s. This grew into a source of information for all literate people and a goal for all people to reach. This in and out of itself created a populace better educated than almost all members of the British military and their mercenaries, including the Officers.
At what level of education would we presently be in Africa and in preventing the spread of the Ebola virus with a more educated populace, if 10% of the money wasted trying to scam the developed countries was utilized for world education. Did any of you actually read the linked article? Judith Curry, a renowned “climate scientist” has actually taken what amounts to a skeptic position here. She is saying that she is not certain that CO2 is the main driver for climate change, and she is decrying the fact that governments have adopted policies based upon the CO2 model, to the detriment of human well being as a whole.
Like Mike Sr, I have a closed mind to the CAGW scam.
This kind of scheme to stampede the mob for personal profit/power is as old as language.

No, Curry has not taken what amounts to a skeptic position.
The skeptic position is that CO2 is not a driver of climate change until proven.
In fact CO2 follows, not drives, FOLLOWS climate change by about 800 years give or take.
Judith Curry is a Scientist / Academic who has distanced herself from the rent-seeking herd and is trying to bend the curve toward reason (and in this presentation, not without hubris). Many Climate scientists, like those of the greater Conservation Biology faux-science (think theocracy of the Inquisition) share a perverted science model contaminated with irrational pieties such as the Precautionary Principle. As a result, hypotheses that further the looting by the vast community of rent seekers and coincide with the dominant progressive-led incremental statism are reinforced or accepted rather than challenged and attempted to be disproved as non-corrupted science would otherwise dictate.
Curry has also been helping Mark Steyn with his legal battle with Hockey Stick Mann.

Temperatue change is the CAUSE, CO2 change is the EFFECT, not the driver.
As I mentioned my reading of the article was to scan the first sentence in each paragraph to see if the paragraph was worth a complete read. This as you are aware is a standard approach for reviewing large amounts of material, particularly in a history reviewing approach. However I do repeat why is this misdirection for the benefit of the today’s disadvantaged people “something that needs to be done”?
The funding wasted to date would surely have met many current urgent needs to remove some people from squalor. The effort of one person to increase the information access for two generations helped to establish the “We the People” constitution. Just imagine what remarkable contributions education could bring for improved understanding of the future for humankind, from the Continent where humankind began.
Gentle little steps, are periodically used as a pejorative in this place for not taking large steps to correct a decades longer Progressive agenda, which lead to Canada’s deficit difficulties, Surely delays are less appropriate for a far more expensive delaying of the approximately two decades of Global atmospheric misrepresentation. J Curry is a skeptic of the scientific process as it stands, and that is were the focus should be. Because when the results of a study (model) do not follow as predicted, YOU DO NOT ADJUST, TWEEK AND SO FORTH, as the so called climate scientist have. She has taken the methods to task, and that is how it should be done. End of lesson on studies.
Curry is and has been perpetuating the lie that CO2 drives climate change.
The hypothesis is the whole battle, it has already been falsified and yet Curry carries on as if it has not been.
Copious evidence exists proving that the opposite is true, that CO2 levels are an effect, not a cause of climate change.
