Canadian show jumping legend Millar, 67, triumphed in a two-horse jump-off over young U.S. phenom Reed Kessler in the $1.5 Million CP International to cap this year’s Spruce Meadows Masters tournament. Millar won this class twice before with his superstar Big Ben–in 1987 and 1991. Both those victories came before Kessler was even born.

Anyone remember the name of the old, grey-haired (well, later on) little guy who always used to “lose” his helmet in the middle of the course on purpose? Was it “Elder”, or something like that?
Was a lot of fun to watch him capture the victory. He really showed the young punks what a true champion he truly is. Two faultless rides with the pressure of $500,000 on the line plus €500,000 as well, up for grabs.
The tension built like a tidal wave, especially when a couple of the top rails wobbled…the roar when the hoofs finally hit the manicured turf with the last top rail in place shook the grand stands and the atmosphere.
Kudos to the Southern Family for an incredible feat of teamwork to clear the snow…twice, by hand, in the main stadium, as well as all the tree limbs and branches from Snowmagedeon.
