The Sound Of Settled Science

Via WUWT;

New research published today (Friday 27th June 2014) in the journal Nature Scientific Reports has provided a major new theory on the cause of the ice age that covered large parts of the Northern Hemisphere 2.6 million years ago.

  1. The climate cons can’t predict weather 2 days in a row, yet magically they can discern weather patters millions of years old. Soothsayer mumbo jumbo by using computers telling us what will happen in the future. That never seems to happen.
When oh when will the BS stop?
If you don’t believe them. The true believers of AGW will jail you. That or take you to court for defaming their fairy tales. It was all dinosaur farts I tells yeah.

  2. We are actually still in an Ice Age. When the same palm trees that are petrified on Ellsmere Island grow back, let me know.

  3. Amazing. I thought it was all caused by CO2. Clearly the only solution is to raise taxes.

  4. When trees grew on Ellsmere Island the continents were in different positions than today, and that part of the earth was much closer to the tropics.
The closing of the gap at Panama by the drifting continents also significantly changed ocean currents.
For those who believe that science is ‘bunk’, there is always the irrational comfort of religion to feed their fantasies.

  5. Science says a bumblebee can’t fly, so don’t put all your faith in science either.

  6. science is about questions and discovery, facts are not. The fact of why a bumble bee can fly is simply proof that scientists need to ask more questions and strive harder to answer them.

  7. That’s another bullsh!t urban legend. Those who learn how to use Google can discover the science of bumblebee flight; or continue to parrot misinformation. The choice, and credibility, is theirs.

  8. Science evolves with discoveries but becomes a Pavlovian corpse when politics invades it like a malignant disease.
Justthinkin, “We are still in an ice age”. That is what some of the commenters on WUWT also said.

  9. Actually, if one goes and reads the comments at the WUWT post, it’s clear that most of the commenters there, some very smart people indeed, are saying, “so tell me something we don’t already know.”
It has long been suspected that plate tectonics, and the formation of the isthmus of Panama have led to the onset of the Pleistocene glacial epoch, which we are still in. At best, this new paper provides one more small piece of evidence in favor of that hypothesis.
And over the span of time involved, neither Greenland nor Ellesmere Island have moved from tropical regions into their present Arctic location. At most, they have moved a couple hundred kilometers, but that is enough to move them from a “seasonal ice” regime to a “permanent ice” regime, and that, as much as the closure of the Pacific-
Atlantic seaway, was enough to bring on the snowball Earth phase we currently “enjoy”.

  10. By the way, looks like gordinkneehill put your theory on Ellesmere in the trash can. I suggest you take your own advise.

Science is all about facts unless you’re a climate scientist. Questions and discovery are the means to find them.

  11. At most, they have moved a couple hundred kilometers, but that is enough to move them from a “seasonal ice” regime to a “permanent ice” regime, and that, as much as the closure of…blah, blah, blah…
I wonder if anyone besides taxpayers paid these parasites to come up with these theories? Real important stuff when they have to force people to pay for it.

  12. Pay attention to details. The continents have drifted in the 55 million years since the Eocene when the climate on Ellesmere was tropical. Got it now?

  13. Science is science, facts are facts, and numbers don’t lie.
Unless you compare the dozens of settled-science apocalyptic climate change models against actual recorded global temperatures, in which case, the numbers are filthy two-faced whores and can be safely discounted, now give us more money.

  14. I will give everybody a scientific fact about the ice age……. it was freaking cold for a very long time.

  15. Re plate tectonics and continental drift….
It has been estimated that the continent of Australia has visited both poles several times, at different times.
During the Ordovician, I think, all landmass was concentrated at the equator and ALL land was glaciated…even at the equator. Fortunately all life forms were still in the ocean…..no land plants or critters had evolved…….
Magnetic reversals are a very interesting matter….another thing we have no control over….

  16. Not scientists: engineers. They looked at the bumblebee as if it were a fixed-wing craft and neglected the effect of the moving wings.
