  1. So this means that Canadian taxpayers will be getting full value for our money in the form of tweets and blogs from CBC hacks?
“TORONTO — The CBC says it is cutting back dinner-hour newscasts and in-house production in a bid to shift its priorities from radio and television to digital and mobile services.”

  2. Snicker snicker snort….. “airbus mulroney cbc”… “About 174,000 results (0.35 seconds)”.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch!!!

  3. I was reading the comments on some other site and one commentator was saying that he thinks his tax money that goes to support the CBC is well spent since it is the only MSM source he follows. I was hoping he would pick up my tax tab because CBC is one of the MSM sources I do NOT watch.

  4. Prescient CBC adaptation is not good news. Good news will be “100% of CBC subsidies have been eliminated”.

  5. well I hope their don’t shut down the in-house production, as I don’t think there are enough McD’s to employ all those useless twits

  6. Maybe you missed the memo, but the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada, Brian Mulroney’s party, ceased to exist back in 2003.
I know it’s a shock, but it’s true. You can just keep running against Mulroney, and have a nice day.

  7. Oh noes, a source of revenue for Herr Doktor Fruitfly cut off?
I guess he’ll have to make do on the $5M annually his Foundation sucks in. Oh, the tragedy of it!

  8. I’m pretty sure that my not giving a damn about the plight of the Ceeb is racist or something…

  9. Well it’s that whole ‘actions and consequences’ thing. If your programming is meant to appeal to gay hipsters, elderly hippies, and fat angry feminists – they are the only ones that will watch it. To further complicate matters – these types seldom have a lot of money because they don’t have a lot of smarts either.
I don’t care what they say or do – I care about the bottom line. My fear here is that instead of paying through the nose for a bunch of radio and TV libtards, we will be paying for a boat load of internet libtards. And – if I want to read liberal shite I think Warren Kinsella is still blogging. If not I am sure there is some other pasty faced twerp that can do as well – and for free.

  10. One more majority Conservative term should pretty near do it. Let’s hope Turdeau doesn’t get a hold of the reins and resuscitate this dying Liberal mouthpiece.
I have a feeling the CBC will be going “all in” during the next federal election campaign to try and dislodge Harper.

  11. “You’re going to see an investment in mobility that’s going to rise as the investment in perhaps television … is reduced.”
Somebody please tell Huey that the CBC has missed the parade. With the loss of HNIC, the partisan political broadcasts emanating from the CBC for the last forty years have now finally gone the way of the Dodo. Huey should get the CBC science wonk to explain to all of the redundant employees that anything that leans to far to one side will eventually fall unless it is externally propped up. Your heretofore captive audience has found the new medium, and Huey I hate to break this to you but the CBC is a pound shy and a dollar short of leading the way in mobility.

  12. CBC was busy relating the story of the Mother’s Day e-mails . . . while Ezra was doing background documentation on fracking. I have pretty much had it with the silly political posturing at the CBC. Maybe all their journalists are just immature. They seem to totally lack judgment. I am not sure what the issue is, but they have ceased to be relevant.

  13. That’s an insult to McD’s. McD’s runs a tight ship, creates tangible value, and is more important in the daily lives of more Canadians than CBC could ever hope to be. I’m being entirely serious – a McD’s staffer is more worthy of respect than CBC trash. Plus CBC staffers wouldn’t last a week at McD’s anyway.

Do what? End the CBC? AHHAHA no. The Cons will never end the CBC. They’d rather use it as a bogeyman to rally their simple base.

  16. CBC is filled to the brim with self-righteous pricks who think they know everything and who all hate Harper. It is good news that they are short on money. Did they honestly expect that Harper would be their bosom buddy after what they have done to him over the years? Duh!
CBC used to have an outstanding jazz show on the radio in the evening called After Hours. In one of their many cases of infinite stupidity they canned the show, and the replacement is unbearable.
At this point I hope they collapse. They are not worth one nickel.

  17. The internet has changed everything. There is nothing that CBC produces that I can’t find, at better quality, on other channels or on the internet.
More and more you’re going to see shows like The Guild being posted exclusively on YouTube, Vimeo, Hulu, or the other video streaming sites.

  18. I trust this is also true for Radio Canada which never has a good word for Canada, the federal government or (gasp) PM Harper. Unfortunately also try for the main private station, but at least I’m not paying for it and they don’t have a mandate to support Canada.

  19. Google ‘ fifth estate schreiber’.
    There is ” About 931,000 results “.
    Also interesting.
Harvey Cashore wrote a Toronto area semi-best-seller about KHS/Mulroney.
Cashore is/was a CBC Fifth Estate producer and talking head.
The CBC even sent him to Germany to follow KHS’s trial.
When KHS was found guilty, the subject was dropped.
I’m going on memory here, but the Fifth Estate did 9 shows on ‘Airbus’.
I wrote them asking for an approximate cost of the shows. They replied, ‘none of your business’. My uneducated guess is at least 30 million.
    That is your CBC.
    This is also interesting.
KHS was active in political circles until 2000.
He has admitted to throwing millions around during that time.
The CBC was never interested in those 7 years between 93 and 2000.
    Hmmm …

  20. I truly thank God nightly for SDA and SunMedia, and would likely go crazy if there were not places like this to go for respite – I am getting up there and sometimes think I’m losing my mind as I search for common sense and the traditional world I once lived in. By the way MJ, Coyne is not alone, try reading the Van Sun and ilk like Ian Mulgrew and Vaughn Palmer. Of course, being called “Vaughn” is as bad as Larry!

  21. All his buddies at Fecal Matter(s) are at the food bank, so he came over here to waste our time.

  22. The “simple base: is following their simple leader, the SIlver Spoon, Trust Fund Spawn of the Quebec Draft Dodger who wore a Nazi helmet.
its the simple base of the Fiberal Party, who think Turdeau is some kind of wunderkind. A kid who has never held a fulltime job, and never been responsible for much, not even supervising a shift at Timmys.
And Fiberals view that as a leader? THAT’S a simple base, “JT”!

  23. Too bad Canada doesn’t have the notion of a Referendum as in Switzerland. It would be interesting to see the outcome of a national referendum to eliminate or privatize the CBC.

  24. The CBC. Marxist obsolescence redundancy that is losing its parts on the road to extinction.

  25. When did Mick Jagger ever wear a Nazi helmet?
You, Mr.Teach, owe me one new laptop!

  26. No but Coyne did write an excellent article about how real conservatives would have scrapped the CBC already while the CPC just dangles it in front of its base.
DanBC: that is some low-grade deflection. D- apply yourself.

  27. With HNIC gone, the ad revenues will certainly tank this gummint albatross – economic natural selection – gotta love it.

  28. Googling “liberal sponsorship scandal cbc” produces 189,000 results. For anyone following CBC the two scandals are equal.
One was made up and the other has been swept under the rug.
