  1. Kyle Smith in the NY Post: “How are Obama and the IRS getting away with a blatant coverup?
    Short excerpt:

The thing about dogs eating homework is, it could actually happen. This can’t. This is “the dog ate my hard drive, broke into another building, ate the backup of the hard drive, then broke into six other top officials’ offices and ate their hard drives also.”

  2. The actions of the IRS are a tacit declaration that the IRS is above Congressional authority and that they only answer to a higher authority. The lack of criticism from the WH clearly shows how high the corruption goes.
The situation is similar to the recent election in Ontario where the Liberals attitude was “yes we’re corrupt, but the alternatives are worse” vote for us anyway; and they pulled it off.

  3. Another layer of crap has been added to the stew EBD…
“The IRS had a contract with email backup service vendor Sonasoft starting in 2005,according to FedSpending.org, which lists the contract as being for “automatic data processing services.” Sonasoft’s motto is “email archiving done right,” and the company lists the IRS as a customer.
In 2009, Sonasoft even sent out a Tweet advertising its work for the IRS”

    and…
When this became known via some blogger somewhere… and posted by The Daily Caller:
“The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) cancelled its longtime relationship with an email-storage contractor just weeks after ex-IRS official Lois Lerner’s computer crashed and shortly before other IRS officials’ computers allegedly crashed.”

MSM cofferdam around IRS scandal springs a leak
    By Thomas Lifson
Make no mistake: the weaponization of the IRS and the subsequent cover-up is the biggest political scandal in the history of the United States, and the survival of the Obama presidency now rests in the hands of a compliant mainstream media continuing to ignore the patently ridiculous claims of lost emails and crashed servers.
So when a major mainstream media pillar like the Chicago Tribune takes up the story and raises a few editorial board eyebrows, it makes a difference. The “World’s Greatest Newspaper” editorializes today:
On a matter this serious, the administration can’t adequately investigate itself. Given the amount of smoke now rising from the IRS, many Americans won’t be much interested in what one arm of the administration concludes about other arms, including the IRS, the Treasury Department of which it’s part, and possibly the White House….

  5. When future generations try to understand how the world got carried away around the end of the 20th century by the panic over global warming, few things will amaze them more than the part played in stoking up the scare by the fiddling of official temperature data. There was already much evidence of this seven years ago, when I was writing my history of the scare, The Real Global Warming Disaster. But now another damning example has been uncovered by Steven Goddard’s US blog Real Science, showing how shamelessly manipulated has been one of the world’s most influential climate records, the graph of US surface temperature records published by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

“The result in security terms is even worse: the largest gathering of jihadis we have ever seen, 12,000 now and expanding. They come from all over the world, a jihadi Arab League, a jihadi EU, a jihadi U.N. Two or three thousand are from Europe, and an estimated 70 from the United States. When they go home, some no doubt disillusioned but many committed, experienced and well trained, “home” will be Milwaukee and Manchester and Marseille—and, as we see now on the front pages, to Mosul. When Obama took office there was no such phenomenon; it is his creation, the result of his passivity in Syria while Sunnis were being slaughtered by the Assad regime.”

Conjecture 3: The War on Terror is the ‘Golden Hour’ — the final chance
It is supremely ironic that the survival of the Islamic world should hinge on an American victory in the War on Terror, the last chance to prevent that terrible day in which all the decisions will have already been made for us. That effort really consists of two separate aspects: a campaign to destroy the locus of militant Islam and prevent their acquisition of WMDs; and an attempt to awaken the world to the urgency of the threat. While American arms have proven irresistible, much of Europe, as well as moderates in the Islamic world, remain blind to the danger and indeed increase it. Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammad recently “told an international conference of young Muslim leaders … (that) … Muslims must acquire skills and technology so they can create modern weapons and strike fear into the hearts of our enemies”. Fecklessness and gunpowder are a lethal combination. The terrible ifs accumulate.”

  8. @Pkuster: While not necessarily disagreeing with the article, this statement did catch my eye:
“Nowhere in the detailed travel accounts from Roman times are glaciers mentioned.”
Hannibal crossed the Alps with his army in 218 BC and accounts of that crossing discuss his army being blocked and then caught on massive ice….most likely a glacier although the word is not, per se, used. And don’t forget that Hannibal was attempting to use the passes, not the high ground.

  11. Heard on the 6 o’clock news that Ontario’s Ministry of the Environment is now going to be called the Ministry of Environment …. and Climate Change. Can hardly believe she’s that brazen, and dumb.
Give a friggin crooked loon a majority and just look what happens.
She’s added two ministers to look after the new pension that’s supposed to be at arms length from government also, there’s a whole new bureaucracy in itself.
Just hope the people that voted for her get burned also.

    Papal Infallibility
    “Vatican II’s Explanation
Vatican II explained the doctrine of infallibility as follows:
“Although the individual bishops do not enjoy the prerogative of infallibility, they can nevertheless proclaim Christ’s doctrine infallibly. This is so, even when they are dispersed around the world, provided that while maintaining the bond of unity among themselves and with Peter’s successor, and while teaching authentically on a matter of faith or morals, they concur in a single viewpoint as the one which must be held conclusively. This authority is even more clearly verified when, gathered together in an ecumenical council, they are teachers and judges of faith and morals for the universal Church. Their definitions must then be adhered to with the submission of faith” (Lumen Gentium 25).”
