  2. The department of foreign affairs, or whoever it is that dispenses largess to overseas destinations, should pay for one way tickets for jihadists to fly to wherever it is they want to become martyrs, thus freeing Canadians from the possibility of further expense.

  9. I’m amazed the the CBC even carried the story, considering it puts certain Muslims in a negative light. It’s certainly a parting from their usual stance of all Muslim, all good, all the time.

  10. It was an investment in appeasing the base. Have a religious leader perplexed with the idea that the youth of his religion are murdering in its name. Secondly a shot at the Conservatives for not doing anything to stop it from happening. Thirdly, further paint Alberta as a breeding ground for intolerance and extremism never satisfied without blood or oil on our hands.

  13. Well, ya gotta understand that the CBC was in a bit of a dilemma here. It is true that running this story would necessitate a break from their “all good Muslim all the time” policy. But on the other hand, running the story would also allow them opportunity to excoriate western Canada, Calgary in particular. In the end they went with their heart.

    I do agree with RD that having a Muslim Mayor is a draw to Muslims and increases their influence in the community.

  16. Just Truth, I sent a note to Team Nenshi prior to the last election asking for his opinion on Sharia.
    The response? Mayor Nenshi believes in the will of the people. In other words, he would accept Sharia if the people voted for it. Consider that with the fact that he has gone across Canada asking for Muslims to come to Calgary.
    Tell me, what media outlets have questioned Nenshi on Sharia, or its current place in Calgary Muslim schools, or the fact that the mosques are breeding terrorists? NONE.
    I would trade Nenshi for Ford right now. Nenshi a typical progressive with no principles who simply goes with the flow. He is a oily, untrustworthy, BIG GOVERNMENT snake, and he’s really good at it.

  17. Syed Soharwardy knew the kid, apparently quite well,watched him grow up. Perhaps if the dear Imam had spent less time threatening lawsuits and HRC actions against anyone who disagreed with him, and had given the disaffected youth the spiritual guidance he so badly needed, this could have been prevented.
    Or maybe not.
    I would suggest that maybe it’s the teaching of Imam Soharwardy that is creating so many jihadists in Calgary, but Mr.Sohawardy would probably sue Kate so I will NOT make any such suggestion.

  18. Nenshi is a spendthrift attention-hore and there is absolutely no evidence that he is bringing Shariah law to Calgary or even increasing Muslim influence here. That is pure nutbar. His response to you could just as easily and more likely means that he respects the will of the people to disallow Shariah.

  22. Just as a side note every so often I go into my local gun club and the place is full of muzzies, who are cocky rude,and arrogant. They talk in Arabic and everyone in awhile I hear an Allah Akbar and a small cheer.
    I am used to it now but they love the ak-47 for some strange reason, and several other “restricted” firearms. I know the ak-47 is prohibited just saying though.

    I was up at a gun shop in Edmonton several months ago, and watched a nasty looking Al Qaeda type arab getting a Chinese made M14 replica tricked out as battle ready to the nines.
    Unlike 99% of Canadian sheeple, I’ve lived and worked for decades in the ME/ North Africa to know the difference between a nasty Arab and a good one. This guy was nasty, and everyone went out of thier way to help him like he was the Dali Lama bringing a message to the lowly.

    All he has to do is encourage other Muslims to take office. Than import more Muslims.

  27. It would be more correct to say that Nenshi “calls himself” a Moslem. He’s an Ismaili who calls himself Moslem, which is roughly analogous to a Unitarian calling himself Christian. He can call himself what he likes, but it makes no difference. He is what he is, and the Ismailis simply aren’t Moslem, any more than Unitarians are Christian.
    Under sharia, Ismailis are either oppressed as infidels or put to death as apostates, which is why Nenshi’s family lives here and not in any Islamic country. I think it’s safe to say he won’t be agititating for sharia any time soon.
