Lennart Bengtsson – a Swedish climatologist, meteorologist, former director of the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg and winner, in 2006, of the 51st IMO Prize of the World Meteorological Organization for his pioneering work in numerical weather prediction – is by some margin the most distinguished scientist to change sides.
For most of his career, he has been a prominent member of the warmist establishment, subscribing to all its articles of faith – up to and including the belief that Michael Mann’s Hockey Stick was a scientifically plausible assessment of the relationship between CO2 emissions and global mean temperature.
But this week, he signalled his move to the enemy camp by agreeing to join the advisory council of Britain’s Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF), the think tank created by the arch-sceptical former Chancellor Lord Lawson.
Too bad that idiot Justin Trudeau does not wake up to the fact that global warming is a fraud. Then again, maybe it is a good thing for people to see just how stupid he actually is.
SunNews is reporting this morning that the Shiny Pony said last evening somewhere in Alberta that anyone who does not believe in AGW cannot run for nominations as Liberal MP candidates.
What’s interesting is that the defections are all going one way. There’s no prominent skeptics been converted to the Church of AGW, but lots of former acolytes now questioning the faith.
They brought attention to themselves in a foolish effort to pick sides in an argument over a premise that was invalid from the start.
Now they do not like the attention so changing sides is supposed to make it all right?

I think you underestimate the duplicity of the Shiny Pony. I’m sure he knows its a fraud. Most people in government do. They cling to it like barnacles because it is a USEFUL fraud, and it is squeezing hundreds of billions mof dollars out of the Sheeple (that would be us) every year.
Of course it is possible he actually believes it. He is a part time drama teacher, so he’s been through the brainwashing machine quite a bit by now.
What makes it more interesting is that they have more to lose than gain in their transition out of the Church of AGW (I like that description), not the least being future funding and salary, and public esteem as conveyed through the main stream media. All they stand to gain, as I see it, is credibility once the passage of time fully reveals the misdirection of it all.
I’m not prepared to credit JT with enough intelligence and freedom of thought to realize that Agw is a left-wing scam. I think he is a true believer.

The problem is that there should be no “we and they” thing here. No enemy and friend, this is supposed to be science. That is the shame in all of this fraud. The AGW crowd has whored themselves out to the pols, and some of them don’t like being on their backs, heels pointed to the ceiling, taking it for the team any longer. They see the fraud for what it is/was, a socialist transfer of wealth from the 1st world to the 2nd/3rd world, engineered by the UN. Once enough folks wake up to that fact, this will end with the same wimper that global cooling went out on. And the socialists will move onto a new scam.

Don’t worry if you don’t get why Y2K didn’t happen, the short answer is: We threw money, time and people at the problem. Which was an actual money, time, people and math problem and fixed it. Recoding something to fix an overflow problem isn’t hard, it’s getting the people deployed to do it.
For those who were never in the industry, it comes across as a “myth” for those of us who were in the industry, we know it was a problem that had to be fixed and we did it. It however was the media that blew it up into an earth-shattering doomsday scenario. But don’t worry, because us programmers are usually short-term thinkers, we’ve got another datebug for you for 2038. See in both cases, they’re integer problems. But at least this, the solution is already being worked on instead of waiting for the last 3 years.

And of course if you think this is an isolated problem, look at the issue created with IPv4 addresses. After all, who really thinks we need more than 4,294,967,296 (2^32) total addresses? Apparently we do, we’ve already run out several times, which is why IPv6 exists and has been in “deployment” for the last 6 years. ISP’s are just slow getting it out here in North America and Europe, it’s fully deployed in Asia already.
As a financial wizard once said, “Governments must maintain wars in order to justify taxation”. No where is that more true than the ‘war on climate change’.
I really hope we do manage to hit 30C or above for a week. Maybe (but probably not) some LIV’s/LIP’s would wake up as the rolling brown/black-outs hit and the bird choppers stand still,along with the closed coal/gas fired power plants. I guess I can dream.

The leader of the opposition in the Alberta legislature seems to actually agree with the orthodoxy of climate change.
It would help the debate for everybody concerned to have open mind on the subject rather than treat it as though it is a religious taboo.

One can understand the politico’s fear to oppose what amounts to modern religion.
It is of course necessary to know and state the matter so it becomes intellectual force to make certain that the population understand what is truth and what is falsehood.

No real answer, nothing that would indicate acknowledgement of actual points raised by the articles, just a lot of useless lip.
