Heavily armed Boko Haram Islamists abducted more than 100 girls from a secondary school in northeast Nigeria, sparking a search by soldiers to track down the attackers, a security source and witnesses said Tuesday.
Some of the schoolgirls in the Chibok area of southern Borno state narrowly escaped their kidnappers by jumping off a truck in the middle of the night as the gunmen sought to cart them away, according to multiple witnesses.
A security source who requested anonymity said the attackers were members of Boko Haram, a radical group whose name means “Western education is forbidden.”
The Western Education that Islamist jihadis fear the most is that of women learning how to use firearms.
A Christian Militia would put the fear of Yaweh into Boko Haram.

The Islamists have been blamed for a series of school massacres, including the mass shooting of students in their sleep earlier this year in Yobe state.

“Boko Haram’s stated goal is the implementation of Shari’a nationwide and in 2012 called on all Christians to leave northern Nigeria. With this goal, Boko Haram attacks churches during worship services to maximize its killing, kills individual Christians, forces Christians to convert to Islam or die, kills persons engaged in what it believes is ‘un-Islamic’ behavior, and kills Muslim critics.”
Lynch added that from January 1, 2012 through July 31, 2013, USCIRF found that Boko Haram had initiated religiously motivated attacks on 50 churches that were “bombed, burned or attacked, killing at least 366 persons.” She continued that there were 31 seperate attacks on Christians or southerners perceived to be Christian, “killing at least 166 persons.”
Lynch added that “23 targeted attacks on clerics or senior Islamic figures critical of Boko Haram” resulted in the killing of at least 60 persons.
Hajja said, “I can’t sleep when I think of being there,” about her captivity during the three month period of forced slavery.
She had watched Boko Haram members slit the throats of prisoners that were captured.”

The attacks, described by the country’s top broadsheet daily Thisday as “Nigeria’s blackest Christmas ever,” risk reopening old wounds and reviving tit-for-tat sectarian violence between the mostly Muslim north and largely Christian south, which has claimed thousands of lives in the past decade.
The Boko Haram Islamist sect, which aims to impose sharia, Islamic law, across Africa’s most populous country, claimed responsibility for three church bombings, the second Christmas in a row it has caused carnage at Christian houses of worship.
The most deadly attack killed at least 27 people in the St Theresa Catholic church in Madalla, a town on the edge of the capital, and devastated surrounding buildings and cars.
