Let this be warning to you all;
[…] while the NOM donor disclosure scandal isn’t directly related to Eich’s ouster, it’s easier than ever to understand why it was a very big deal that corrupt agents of the Internal Revenue Service handed confidential donor information over to a left-wing activist group. In a better nation with a more universal commitment to free speech and democracy, maybe it wouldn’t matter as much, but Brendan Eich is the face of the ugly reality of American totalitarianism. Intimidation is the order of the day – a major reason for the persecution of Eich was to send a signal to the rest of the population that opposition to the fascists will be punished.
The intimidation factor will be huge with corporations, who don’t want to suffer through boycotts or corporate character assassinations; the path of least resistance will involve quietly checking the politics of high-profile hires, to make sure they haven’t voted or spoken in a way that might touch off the mob. Those who seek such high-profile positions will understand that their political credentials must be kept in good order; the exercise of free speech, or providing financial support to certain issues, will be judged far more trouble than it’s worth.
That’s how fascism works, and while you might be chilled to the bone by reading the previous paragraph, rest assured that Eich’s tormentors are delighted – it describes precisely the environment they wished to create. It will not have occurred to them that some employers will note the way gay-rights activists working for Mozilla played prominent roles in sabotaging their CEO, and conclude that gay employees are more trouble than they’re worth.
Related – a Firefox feedback forum goes horribly wrong. You can have a go at them here.

Like I said @ BCF:
“”Mozilla believes both in equality and freedom of speech”. I call bullshit!
If they really believed, Brendan Eich would still have his position.
“Mozilla prides itself on being held to a different standard””. Bullshit #2!
They are following the same jackbooted homo “standard” being mandated on everyone.
Yup, they’re different, just like everyone else!
Cowardly bastards.”
I like and use Firefox, but I’ll be damned if I’ll EVER give them a single penny in donations!
It would be easy to win against these Nazi homos by either ignoring them or simply giving them the middle finger. Also easy for us to do on a individual basis but corporate powers have been so pussywhipped by political correctness that the only thing left in their arsenal is retreat. This whole gay thing has gone way past acceptance. It’s at the point where endorsement is mandatory and that’s the end result of continual retreat.
I’m gratified to see some quarters of the alt-media starting to call this repression of political opinion diversity what it is – fascism
“It will not have occurred to them that some employers will note the way gay-rights activists working for Mozilla played prominent roles in sabotaging their CEO, and conclude that gay employees are more trouble than they’re worth.”
Indeed.
Employers have always had ways of carefully screening out candidates with “undesired” attributes (the over-tattooed, for example).
These days, a little anonymous Internet searching at home by an HR director can reveal useful background knowledge to tuck away before the big interview.
(A photo of the candidate holding up an OCCUPY sign on his Facebook page? Ah.)
In a civil society adult individuals who are not using force against other individuals when engaging in their private sex life should be tolerated, but tolerance does not entitle one to acceptance. The PC crowd demand acceptance so f*^% ’em with a rusty shovel.

This is truly disturbing.
Getting fired your board is not ‘fascism’. The IRS leak on the other is truly awful. This just emphasizes the need for anonymity in all things particularly donations. Cryptocurrency can step in for the latter. We’ll need to step on the NSA if we want secure anonymity.
Dixie Chicks didn’t have correct opinions either. Both sides engage in this black listing; the bigger issue is the IRS operating as an arm of the DNC.
The homo fascist movement is a disturbing bit of culture wars, but I agree with others that the truly disturbing part of this story is the staggering corruption of the IRS being used as a tool for the totalitarian “progressive” cause.
It is precisely fascism Spinal Tap, he was fired for no other reason than his political support of Proposition 8.
Eich’s hounding from office has precisely nothing to do with his abilities to run Mozilla in a sound technical and businesslike manner. The man founded Java Script which currently runs much of the internet, the proposition that he was fired for incompetence would be preposterous.
The man was fired purely, on the basis of his political beliefs. This is the very essence of the concept known to the National Socialists as ‘Gleichshaltung’. This is similar to using the IRS to target the Tea Party for their political beliefs, something Lois Lerner is now availing herself of the 5th Amendment for, much to her chagrin.
Among the goals of this policy of ‘gleichshaltung’, were to bring about adherence to a specific doctrine and way of thinking and to control as many aspects of life as possible.
Your difficulty is you don’t recognize ‘fascism’ when it presents itself in a very transparent manner. One would hope you would awake from your slumber before the fascist boot intersects with your posterior.

Their biggest mistake was to not monetize it like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton do. Next steps maybe? With insiders in the IRS, this could turn into a serious extortion racket.
“Getting fired your board is not ‘fascism'”
Fired for what??
Incompetence, financial fraud, trading company secrets, sabotage, harassment, criminal behavior, libel???
Or a stinking LEGAL donation of $1000 that was nobody’s business in the first place?
He was supposed to cop a Mea Culpa for that!!!
When a “board” loses its corporate directive to act in the best interests of its shareholders, and swings into group think to acquiesce control of its fiduciary responsibilities to a minuscule group of radicalized, militant, subversives, that’s fascism.
I applaud him for resigning.
And screw the “board” and all those who didn’t stand up for him and his rights at Mozilla.
If you can’t see the difference, good luck on your choices when you face the cognitive dissonance at the crossroads in your life.
“It will not have occurred to them that some employers will note the way gay-rights activists working for Mozilla played prominent roles in sabotaging their CEO, and conclude that gay employees are more trouble than they’re worth.” Kate
Actually they are all Trouble. I know because as a Engineering Manager I made the mistake of protecting an employee who was a Transvestite. It was a moral decision that I learned to regret. Every time the SOB got himself into trouble..CIA, FBI it was me that got the heads-up call and I felt obligated each time to protect him. I am ashamed to admit that I felt relived that he died of Aids. The Tech industry has overreached into a monolithic political policy based on a selfish childish POV. It will destroy the Industry.
The venture Capital will flee!
That was fun:
I’m a life-long lesbian, but more importantly, a free-thinking American who values freedom. You just assured that I switch everything to Chrome, I resisted Chrome for years as a loyal Firefox user. I look forward to your campaign to have Barack Obama fired for this same stance.
Obama is just doing what he knows best. Applying Chicago style Ward politics to the national level.
It has kept the corrupt Democrats in power in Chicago since whenever and it is, so far, working at the national level.
The difference is Chicago has the State and Feds to $bail out the stupidities, where Obama has nobody but taxpayers to pay for his moronic policies.
But he has bought so many voter blocks with his Obama stash, he may have found the secret to making America become a self inflicting wound until it collapses and then can emerge from the ashes.
It is evident what is necessary to get ahead in the US these days. Be or become a member of the
Democratic Party and donate plentifully to them. Tithing would be a good idea. And say, every
morning, “I believe what the Democratic Party believes; the Democratic Party believes what I
believe.” At present that should suffice.
As the US sinks deeper into socialism more will be required. The left devours its own;
Communists had always to keep on top of the Party Line, which often necessitated some real
adroitness.
“Flexing its new-found political muscle in ousting its co-founder Brendan Eich for having been “anti-gay-marriage,” Mozilla has upped the ante by demanding that President Obama resign for having raised funds in 2008 and 2010 for candidates known to oppose gay marriage and for having said in his own campaign in 2008 that “marriage is only between a man and a woman.”

Note to those 19 people that don’t know, The People’s Cube is a satirical site, usually.
Just said “bye bye, Firefox.”
Along with many, many others.
This will be fun to watch.
Glad to see so many people around the web speaking up. These fascists MUST be met with equal force or it is game over for the free world. Enough sitting around and taking this nonsense. People have to speak up.
As for me, Firefox is gone tonight. Just finishing my beer and then I will swap in something else.
Screw them. They can all go to hell.
Someone on the web said there are gay bars, gay magazines, gay TV channels, gay website, and now they have a gay browser!
Anyway, this post is being written with Chrome (only marginally better because the Google crowd would probably do the same to one of their executives – but at least so far they have not).
Firefox has been obliterated!
Kate: I suggest a contest to redesign the Firefox logo!
No, you got it backwards. The Democrats are the political arm of the IRS
Who fired the Dixie Chicks?
My comment on their board:
I am disgusted with your total lack of support for Brandon Eich, your obvious contempt for the concept of free speech, and your utter cowardice in capitulating to the screeching vitriol of the fascist gay lobby. Effective immediately, I am removing your product from all my home computers, and my corporate network and mobile devices. I will be migrating to whatever competitor that poses the greatest business challenge for Mozilla.
You have made your choice and taken your stand. Now I will do likewise.

The Dixie Chicks angered Bush supporters and were treated in kind. They were NEVER censored or oppressed.
What happened to Eich has been tacitly allowed to happen. Whenever groups like this aren’t told to get lost, they increase in power. Chik-fil-A stood up to the bullies and had a boom in business. Would that others had the same spine.
Fascism is an authoritarian system of government. Boycotts and getting fired for donations have NOTHING TO DO WITH FASCISM. Cripes you crybabies need to get off the cross already.
Just removed Firefox from all my computers.
It sucks to be them when they lose millions of downloads and sponsor/advertisement/feedback monies.
(From the Firefox link)
“Please describe your problem below.”
They could start by seeing it as their problem.
Spiny Tapped Out just can’t stand it when he’s wrong.
Geez even the media lefty talk show hosts are calling out on this one and Spiny Tapped Out doubles down on a ridiculous position…
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2014/04/04/bill_maher_there_is_a_gay_mafia_if_you_cross_them_you_do_get_whacked.html
Maher seemed to disagree with gay rights activists for targeting Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich because of a 2008 donation to support a ballot initiative that would ban same-sex marriage in California.
“Well, and he gave it when President Obama was still against gay marriage. So, I don’t think it’s very fair,” guest panelist fmr. Rep. Tom Davis (R-VA) said.
“Good point,” Maher responded.
“I think there is a gay mafia,” Maher said. “I think if you cross them, you do get whacked.”

I told them my problem was their intolerance and political correctness and their browser was now fired. (I don’t use Firefox but it was cheap ammo.)
Does anyone think that suddenly not using Firefox is going to be effective? Will it be any more effective than buying Chick-Fil-A or Duck Dynasty stuff to spite them?
It’s so reactive. There are millions of targets to choose from for the Left – if the Right neutralizes one threat, another pops up in its place, over and over until we all just get tired of it. The pace is set by the Left, and the Right reacts. That’s why there’s a ratchet effect, and that’s why little by little we lose.
Isn’t it about time for the Right to set the tempo?
Personally I don’t think it’s enough to quit using firefox. More importantly I think websites (Kate, you listening)should start blocking viewers who arrive using Firefox as their browser. Truth Revolt has done this, and I will be doing it with my business websites. Unfortunately, the percentage of the population that actually cares enough to switch browsers probably isn’t enough to really hurt Mozilla. But if people using Mozilla start finding sites inaccessible to them because of their browser, this then becomes an issue of the quality of the service that Mozilla offers and they may well start looking around for another browser.

I believe TSB has the right answer.
Just add a javascript esomething like
navigator.sayswho= (function(){
var ua= navigator.userAgent, tem,
M= ua.match(/(opera|chrome|safari|firefox|msie|trident(?=\/))\/?\s*(\d+)/i) || [];
to detect which browser then say in 14 days you’ll stop supporting it.
good idea TSB!
Great suggestion, TSB. Turn the Commie phrase ” No Pasarán ” back on them.
It would be a nice touch to put a statement on the block page explaining the reason for blocking Mozilla brand browsers.
Lipton dropped them as a sponsor.
Two Radio dj’s were suspended for playing their music.
Numerous death threats.
Boycotts, smashed and burned cd’s.
This behaviour happens on both sides, and elements of the right will pick up where the left leaves off as soon as the Republicans are back in power.
Same as it ever was.
Fantastic idea! Had I a website, I’d do that immediately. Well done.
Very interesting comment discussion in the NYT in response to this typical piece of NYT shallow journalism http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/04/04/why-mozillas-chief-had-to-resign/?_php=true&_type=blogs&_php=true&_type=blogs&_r=1&
The suggestion to use Javascript to create a Firefox lockout is EXQUISITELY ironic. Few seem to know that Eich was the creator of Javascript eons ago…LOLZ!
Gee, that darn freedom of association thing, eh?
Too bad that doesn’t go for the IRS and some of the things tax money supports. Sometimes the Constitution doesn’t really mean what it says…well, according to the official interpreters, anyway.
http://whyfirefoxisblocked.com/ has what you’re looking for.
The difference is Eich did NOTHING – nada, zip, bupkis – as CTO (which he was for NINE – 9! – years), or in the two whole weeks he was CEO to denigrate homosexuals, to deny them opportunity within Mozilla, or to create an atmosphere where homosexuals were unwelcome. Let me make this clear to you, “chir” – he did not use his POSITION to further his PERSONAL views.
The Dipsh.., er Dixie Chicks used their PLATFORM as performers to force their political views on their audience. Some people, on hearing these views, which the Dipsies HAD MADE PART OF THEIR PUBLIC PERSONA, decided they didn’t like those views, and by association, the Dipsiedoodles. Those people reacted by cancelling advertising contracts, banning Dipsie music on radio stations they owned (public service, if you ask me, but let’s continue..), and some individuals reacted by smashing Dipsie CD’s/etc that those individuals had PAID for.
In no case were the Dipsomaniacs’ tax donations made public. There were no demands to have their record label fire them. Within some circles, their popularity rose and within others, it fell. That’s the cut and thrust of public opinion.
Eich’s position wasn’t made public by him, it was made public by criminals within the IRS. He wasn’t allowed to put his position to Mozilla users or the public at large; it was all done behind the scenes.
And when Eich had his Galilean “Eppur, si muove” moment, he was fired for it. Mozilla no mo’!
Hardly. My refusal to support the Dixie Twits by buying their product is not the same as demanding their record label stop carrying them, or the radio station stop playing them. I will never watch any movie with Jane Fonda in it. I do not prevent you from doing so, nor will I boycott whatever studio employs her. You cannot compel my acceptance.
