Thoughtcrime at Mozilla;
This is a perfect illustration of the degree to which the same-sex marriage movement has succeeded in conflating the belief that the down-stream effects of same-sex marriage might be, net-net, problematic for society with hatred, bigotry, etc. toward gays.
Of course this is a selective conflation. If you’re Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama circa a few years back, you’re just misguided. But whatever.
Related: ‘Should he be impeached?’

Probably the worst part of this story is that his donation was leaked by the IRS.
Sorry Kate, I just posted a link to this story in Reader Tips, and while I was doing that your post appeared.
Being a high-tech person myself, I’d say the Eich story is one of the scariest things I’ve seen in quite a while.
And of course the hard left Mercury News can do nothing but say it is all his fault:
http://www.siliconvalley.com/michelle-quinn/ci_25489008/quinn-brendan-eich-mozillas-former-chief-executive-needed
These people are *scary* !!
An old guy I knew was describing his feelings for someone, “I don’t hate them, I just don’t like ’em.”
Who would have thought it would ever be mandatory to like others? That’s not far from being mandatory to be like them.

“I’ve just flown in from California, where they’ve made homosexuality legal. I thought I’d get out before they make it compulsory.”
Bob Hope, 1975
Just gets closer to home every day!
And for your viewing pleasure, this is the pinko witch that hit Eich with the door on his way out:
http://images.businessweek.com/ss/08/09/0929_most_influential/image/michelle_baker.jpg
I won’t point you to her blog, you will get ill.
“Who would have thought it would ever be mandatory to like others? That’s not far from being mandatory to be like them.”
That’s double-plus un-good./ off George Orwell’s shade
No, President Obama shouldn’t be impeached for having held the same view in 2008 that gets Eich sacked now, because he didn’t hold that view. He just lied that he did because back then he thought that lie would help get him elected.
(N.B. I didn’t say he shouldn’t be impeached, I said he shouldn’t be impeached for that reason.)
Hmm.. The IT industry has become a LIKE-MINDED cult, not much individual innovation is to be expected. US companies are going to lose investment going forward. What Country will become the next center of Technology?
The ideological harridan would drive out a man who has created employment for thousands simply for expressing a political opinion not in conformity with her preferences.
She’d fit right in with the Marxists of East Germany…who would also put a bullet in your back should you try to escape ideological conformity.
Its the new ‘progressive tyranny’…”never mind respecting a difference of opinion fire the bastard!”
The ‘new tolerance’ is just ‘old tyranny’.

test
I’ll try this again, my apologies if this double posts.
I use Firefox and know that others here do too.
Here are some alternatives to using Mozila Firefox as a browser.
Remember A&E and Phil Robertson? A&E got the message.
So should Mozilla. Let Mozilla eat this one the same way A&E did!
That the IRS leaked his donation is despicable. Instead of Mozilla taking on the IRS they canned Eich.
I want to tell Mozilla why I’m dumping them if they ask for a feedback report on the uninstall. ” I use my browser as an extension for reading people exercising their first amendment rights in the USA, as well as there civil right to donate to whomever they so desire without the IRS squealing on them. I will not support a corporate mindset aiding and abetting Fascism”
Does anyone here have any experience with the Maxthon Browser?
I may just revert to IE out of spite until I figure out my alternative
I suspect that there’s more to this than meets the eye.
I’m stuck in comment purgatory and need someone to ♫Please release me♫
Thanks
We are inventing a unique form of retro-active persecution, for not conforming to absurd norms created by crazy people.
Its a form of “rein of terror” without the whisper of a guillotine.
Though lives are ruined by this insanity.
The National Socialists had a word for this type of behaviour modification:
Gleichschaltung!
Among the goals of this policy were to bring about adherence to a specific doctrine and way of thinking and to control as many aspects of life as possible.

It appears that there’s nothing more intolerant than the “inclusively” minded moonbats. When queers start getting beaten up with baseball bats in increasingly large numbers they will have only themselves to blame. I find myself slowly sliding from a point of view where I don’t care what people do in the privacy of their own homes to a far more hostile viewpoint.
In case anyone has forgotten, marriage is an institution which provides a framework for having children and raising them. Two queers adopting a child doesn’t constitute marriage. Couples, regardless of their sexual preference, should have the right to form a civil union wherein they enjoy some of the legal rights that married couples have, but under no circumstances should it be called a marriage. The state has no right to arbitrarily decide that a man and woman living together are “married” which it did in my case.
Today I decided to do one of the medical surveys that ask me a bunch of stupid questions and then, some months later, I get a check for participating in the survey. This one was on venereal diseases, specifically gonorrhea. Where I practice, I don’t see any as gonorrhea now seems to be almost exclusively a queer disease and particularly common in Vancouver among devotees of “bathhouses” where men can have anonymous unprotected copulatory activity with multiple partners and share venereal diseases. I haven’t seen a single case in the interior although chlamydia is widespread as young heterosexuals haven’t been scared out of engaging in copulatory activity as they have been in Vancouver. It was an easy survey to do as most of the questions were about homosexuals and I pointed out that they either don’t exist in the interior of BC or are in hiding. We’ll see if I get stricken off the list of physicians who get emailed such paid surveys as a result of my answers.
What I’ve noticed over the years is that intolerance is becoming institutionalized. One of the things one must agree to when becoming a member of the clinical faculty at UBC is to accept the BC human rights act; just one of the odious totalitarian policies one must agree to abide by. This is something that I will never voluntarily do and thus I have refused to become a member of the UBC clinical faculty. I didn’t get a very friendly response when I refused to participate in the “anti bullying day” at the hospital and my comment that the best way to deal with bullies to to pound the crap out of them wasn’t very favorably received. Every month it appears that there’s some new form of “intolerance” that we’re supposed to embrace with negative consequences occurring if one doesn’t go along with the statist uniformity.
The way to deal with this increasingly intolerant “tolerant” society is to refuse to go along. The “tolerant” hate it when the logical inconsistencies of their behavior are pointed out; the only response they have is to yell as loud as they can at the party who has demonstrated their illogic. Being self employed I have far more latitude to oppose mandated conformity and statist approved perversions. I’m just curious how long it will take before the vast majority of the population who are fed up with this crap start to strike back.
The Anchoress has a good post about it here: http://www.patheos.com/blogs/theanchoress/2014/04/04/a-gay-ceo-with-balls-needs-to-hire-eich-and-halt-this-crap/
Quote: Barack Obama only “evolved” on the issue of gay marriage when his re-election team deemed it necessary. Hillary Clinton came along even later, once the issue was clearly showing up in the “win” column. They blow with the wind, stand for nothing, but they’re given a pass. Meanwhile, as Allahpundit notes: “The difference between Eich and Obama is that. as far as we know, Eich didn’t lie to people’s faces about his views to further his own ambition. He could have publicly renounced his donation this week in the name of keeping his job, but apart from a statement about making sure that Mozilla supports everyone regardless of orientation, he didn’t. . .When forced to choose Eich evidently preferred to sacrifice his job [rather than recant].” Imagine that. A man who didn’t simply kowtow to a movement for the sake of personal or political expediency! … I hold out absolutely no hope that this chill wind will be checked or reversed — too many people with money and influence and no individual courage at all find totalitarianism an alluring idea … it is an execrable, detestable trend that, if unchecked, will affect every facet of our lives as “correct” thoughts and “correct” ways become ever-narrower and trap more and more people in its stinking and miserable gullies … I would ask my gay friends to openly reject this movement to oppress so-called “wrong” thinking — suffocate it right now, as it is being born — because eventually it will grow into a monster that will consume anyone, indiscriminately.”
Well expressed Deb; Thanx; Cheers
As I’ve said before, I we don’t ACT when we see the exercise of PC tyranny we will all be prisoner to it – so as an act to defiance to PC thought crime oppression, and as an act of individual freedom, I just dumped firefox as my browser and did so to all the computers at work – no Mozilla product until this man is reinstated.
@Loki: You said, “I find myself slowly sliding from a point of view where I don’t care what people do in the privacy of their own homes to a far more hostile viewpoint.” I also find myself moving in a more hostile direction on homosexuality. I’m also of the belief that this “moving” is more widespread than just you and me. But even if I’m correct, I also believe that nothing will change until the children of these “marriages” become adults and start to testify about the damage that’s been done to them.
Firefox duly uninstalled with email to mitchell@mozilla.org If there are few million more like me will they realize the error of their ways? Nah, didn’t think so.
In Putin’s Russia you have the freedom not to agree with same sex marriage and their children don’t play pin the tail on the anus in their preschools. And for some reason you conservatives think Russia is your new enemy. Folks, you have way more enemies here in the west to deal with. The Russians are your least of worries
I have removed Firefox from my computer.
Nozilla.
It goes beyond tolerance of other peoples’ private choices. Now we must be publicly forced to accpet those choices and rejoice in them. Oh, those courageous homosexuals.
Brendan Eich invented JavaScript.
Therefore, JavaScript is anti-gay.
Therefore, every website in the world that uses JavaScript must stop using it. And every JavaScript developer must be jailed.
Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Assuming anybody listens to your advice.
Eich QUIT … because he was not going to get the support he deserved withing the company.
Te way to get back is to promise to NEVER buy shares in Mozilla.
“you conservatives think Russia is your new enemy”
There is nothing new about Russia being the enemy(Russia never stopped being the enemy) and Stanley Ann Dunham met Barack Obama sr. while they were both studying Russian at the University of Hawaii in 1960 at the height of the Cold War.
The whole ‘out-of-the-closet-and-in-your-face’ homosexual problem is courtesy of Russian agents like you in our midst.
As a society we are regressing. I’m not talking about gay marriage, which I support, I’m talking about this need to force everyone to conform or be punished. This need for “Conformity Or Else”is not a gay or progressive thing (although they are in many ways the worst self-righteous, neo-Puritans at this moment in time). It’s a really ugly human nature thing. For example: the Romans threw Christians to the lions, the Christians burned heretics at the stake.
That gays and progressives cannot see this shows how unenlightened they really are and that their intolerant, authoritarian foundation is no different than the Christian traditionalists they like to mock. Libertarians, OTOH, have no internal inconsistency regarding equal marriage and freedom of expression, property rights and tolerating dissenting political voices.
I believe in the toleration of the aberrants of nature, not celebrating them. But now my tolerance is being strained and sympathy is gone. Now the aberrants feel strong enough to destroy the lives of those who do not openly love them. Homos have become hateful bigots, worse than those with white privilege and meaner than a white Latino.
Not sure why they didn’t go whole hog and burn Mozilla installation CDs in the public square.
I removed FireFox when I stopped drinking coffee. You see, I always liked having time to go get a cup of it between the time I clicked on the icon and the time it started up.
hitler and the Nazi (national socialists) killed off Jews, gays and gypsies first. The very demographics that were most likely to vote for them. These foolish rectums what to watch their backs, else they may find that they become the targets of their very supporters!
It is more widespread. Where once I was indifferent to homosexuality, not I am hostile. They brought this on themselves.
It is more widespread. Where once I was indifferent to homosexuality, now I am hostile. They brought this on themselves.
This is very disturbing. Sun News just had a report on it in which they revealed that dating site OKCupid.com posted a message about Eich’s donation if you entered their site with a Mozilla browser.
This is part of the same campaign that bullied Samuel Adams out of a recent St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
I really don’t care what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their own home. And I believe that gay people should be able to engage in a Civil Union that provides them all of the same rights and tax benefits as a heterosexual married couple. However, I’ve always objected to the word “Marriage” being used for these civil unions because if it means anything then it ends up meaning nothing.
Mark my words, it won’t be more than another decade before initiatives are launched to declare polygamy legal, which will see 3 people getting married. You’ll then see these same zealots on the Left using exactly the same arguments of “fairness” to belittle and destroy anyone who disagrees with them.
Russia has a civilization dating back more than 1000 years.
While the people in Europe were beating themselves on the head with clubs while worshipping rocks and trees in the dominant pagan religion, the Russian people survived many attacks from the jealous who misunderstood the roots of their inner strength.
Communism was a blip in the history of Russia, who, I submit is not an enemy but a rival. Their people are much more subdued than the blustering leaders of the west.
While Russia continues to strongly defend itself on existential issues, the west is collapsing under its moral decay.
I’m glad Russia has dropped its subsidy of natural gas prices to Ukraine.
I’m also glad much of the $18 billion the IMF (read sucker taxpayers of the west) will be going directly to Russia, to whom Ukraine owes $2.2 billion just for natural gas. At least the rest of Europe pays their bills, unlike Ukrainian pikers who avoid paying their debts.
Only one question. Do you believe it’s OK to not pay your bills?
NATO and the EU will be proved to be on the wrong side of history.
his donation was leaked by the IRS.
Not true.
The names of donors in the Proposition 8 battle, for and against, have always been public information, even before the election. The Los Angeles Times has a searchable database here. Eich’s name is on it
Caveat:The possible IRS leak is a real thing, though. First Things didn’t invent it, just misunderstood it. The IRS is accused of leaking the National Organization for Marriage’s (NOM) tax records from 2008 to the Human Rights Campaign. The IRS has claimed the release of the records was “inadvertent.”

“This is a perfect illustration of the degree to which the inter-racial marriage movement has succeeded in conflating the belief that the down-stream effects of inter-racial marriage might be, net-net, problematic for society with hatred, bigotry, etc. toward gays.”
This is another example if Kultur Kons defending a baseless position based on some vague sense of tradition, losing the culture war, and then then impotently bellyaching about it. The lash out at the Mozilla guy was a bit much but supporting Prop 8 was an evil act. FireFox is an even greater evil-unusable dreck.
“I find myself slowly sliding from a point of view where I don’t care what people do in the privacy of their own homes to a far more hostile viewpoint.” I also find myself moving in a more hostile direction on homosexuality.
You’re an evil bigot good for you.
I’m also of the belief that this “moving” is more widespread than just you and me.
It’s not you’re alone.
But even if I’m correct, I also believe that nothing will change until the children of these “marriages” become adults and start to testify about the damage that’s been done to them.
The data is clear that there is no damage.
While the people in Europe were beating themselves on the head with clubs while worshipping rocks and trees in the dominant pagan religion, the Russian people survived many attacks from the jealous who misunderstood the roots of their inner strength.
Um wrong. Russia slid into its Middle Ages while Europe was coming out in the Rennaissance. Communism was not a ‘blip’ it took root in Russia because Russia already had an authoritarian system of government headed by the Tsars. Russia has never been anything but a boil on history’s asss and nothing good came out of it aside from Ayn Rand, Dostoyevsky, and the guy who made the first periodic table. I wish Napoleon had won the eastern front.
Good post LC Bennett.
True, libertarians are neutral on “gay marriage” tho I think more pragmatic types like me would at least nod to tradition and ask that the WORD marriage retain its many millennia meaning.
And, of course, a good libertarian is strongly against the idea of being forced to, say, photograph a same sex wedding or bake a cake for one, the quaint right of association being foundational to liberty.
Gawd I’m ancient.
Note that this Mitchell Baker creep got her law degree from UC Berkeley. That tells you just about everything you need to know.
There is a good deal to this story, beyond just the growing thuggery of the gays.
This is a very serious free speech issue.
Conservatives should also reflect carefully on this issue. Why is it that high-tech seems to have been largely lost at this point to the left and the anti-free speech movement? How the hell did conservatives allow that to happen?
I think too much ground is being lost to these savage, fascist left-wing bastards: high-tech, education, public policy, science(!!), entertainment, you name it, all lost to these evil people.
What do conservatives have left? Guns, cowboys, oil men, Walmart and God. What a sorry state of affairs.
Too bad you are wrong on your first two responses. There is growing ire over the ‘in-your-face’ attitude of the radical gay activists.
I have spoken with many people (of varying backgrounds) who don’t like their approach of forcing everyone to agree with them or else.
As to your third point please show us the data. Considering most of these ‘marriages’ just occurred or haven’t been established for more than 20 years I would say any data is from a particularly small source and most of the children haven’t become adults yet.
I know that reading this story is prompting me to delete my firefox browser and I will also never, ever purchase a Sam Adams again….or any other product of that brewery in Canada or during my relatively numerous visits to the US.
Yes….actions do have consequences. These two companies just lost my business.
Hilarious. You lead with an anecdote and then ask for data.
You want data here’s a whole slew of studies. Scroll down for the studies on gay adoption.
http://reason.com/archives/2013/04/05/the-science-on-same-sex-marriage
Every single poll is clear that people are only getting more accepting of gays and gay marriage, especially young people. They just don’t want to hear this malarkey about ever-ephemeral harm from gay marriage. Not interested. If you want to have any success in my generation you best STFU and toe the line.
“The data is clear that there is no damage.”
Not true.

So, the Left gets Hollywood, the music industry, all the universities and schools, the tech industry, the publishing industry, the newspapers.
Meanwhile, middle-class conseratives are starting another news aggregation site and wealthy conservatives are giving hundreds of millions to politicians – most of whom won’t win.
Are the terms of our surrender?
Marc Andreessen has stuck up for Eich with the following tweet:
“Brendan Eich is a good friend of 20 years and has made a profound contribution to the Web and to the entire world”

Spinal Tap said
Communism was not a ‘blip’ it took root in Russia because Russia already had an authoritarian system of government headed by the Tsars.
————————————————–
Wrong
Communism that overwhelmed Russia took root in New York City and was transferred there. Most if not all monarchies in Western Europe were also authoritarian not just the Russian Tsars.
Now that they’ve established that the very idea of supporting traditional marriage is a hateful and destructive act which must be PUNISHED!!!!, where do the Lefties go next?
Here’s a clue:
http://phantomsoapbox.blogspot.ca/2014/04/mechanized-identification-of-political.html
Title of the Mother Jones article: “This Machine Can Tell Whether You’re Liberal or Conservative.”
Seems Conservatives have a natural and hereditary “Negativity Bias” which is detectable with a simple test.
What’s the future of Lefty family look like? An old lady’s corpse found after it sat on the chesterfield for six months in front of the TV, which was still going.
In other words, it’ll be the same as always. They’ll just kill everybody who disagrees.
That’s who’s side Spinal Tap is trolling for. Just so we’re all clear who’s who and what’s what.
