  1. Ukraine President Offers Posts to Opposition Leaders — Update
“At the meeting with the heads of the three main opposition parties, Mr. Yanukovych offered to fire his government if one of the opposition leaders, former Foreign Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, accepts the post of prime minister, Justice Minister Olena Lukash said after talks.
Another opposition leader, boxer-turned-politician Vitali Klitschko, could become deputy prime minister for humanitarian affairs, Ms. Lukash said.
The offer Saturday came after two months of protests turned violent in recent days, causing the deaths of at least three protesters amid a police crackdown.
The demonstrations started in November when the president shelved a European Union integration pact in favor of closer ties with Russia. Protesters are currently occupying Kiev’s central square and parts of roads leading to it, as well as a ministry and a city government building.
Opposition leaders were discussing the offer, aides said, which they see as a step in negotiations.”

Could well be too little, too late.

  2. Ukraine opposition reject compromise deal.
Demonstrators soon afterwards began storming Kiev’s largest exhibition hall following reports that riot police were hiding inside, threatening violent new clashes after a week in which two-month-old anti-government protests turned deadly. But they formed a safe corridor to allow interior ministry troops (Berkut)inside the building to leave.

  3. Makes me wonder if once again the Mennonites will be the ones to take the brunt of the blame and punishment. Putin is a long way from being Stalin but there are always other ways to punish those that don’t appreciate the communist manifesto. So sad. All these people have ever wanted for the past hundred years is to be left alone from outside influences.
