1. “Is Sylvester Stallone a better painter than actor?”
   Don’t know, art is relative, but for certain the man knows how to make MONEY far better than your average Joe.

   Would that be hard?

3. That’s setting a fairly low standard – about the height of a threshold. Is he a movie star who can make money? Yes, Rocky cost $1million and grossed $200million, if my memory is correct. Could he stand in for any member of the Royal Shakespeare Company? No.
   Phantom, Stella? I don’t remember Stallone reprising Brando’s role. Or do you mean something else entirely?

4. He was said to be an even better diddler star.

5. That red-stripe jobbie, maybe he could sell it to Canada’s National Art Museum. For a couple of million. They seem to like that sort of thing.

7. Sylvester did a very good job in Rocky, Rocky 2 and Copland. There are a few bombs in his lifetime as well, but any actor who works long enough will make both good and bad movies.

   Like him or not accomplishments between the gym and art canvas the man deserves an ounce of respect.

10. You may not appreciate his talents on screen or on canvas but I respect the fact that he didn’t take a grant from the Canada Council or any other taxpayer teat.

11. Stallone is an entertainer, did a pretty good job all in all. Thus far he has as far as I know managed to avoid telling me how to live my life in micro detail, so that puts him in the top 10 percentile

12. I agree that he’s always been a good entertainer. His films were good escapism and helped inspire me to push myself as a gym rat in my younger days.
    As for his painting, since it shows rather more creative talent than taking a dump on a piece of paper, it will probably invite scorn and derision from the Canada Council types. And as Lincoln said, “For people who like this sort of thing, this is the sort of thing they will like.”

15. I spazzed. It was “Adriaaaaan!” not “Stelllaaaa!” I barely remember Rocky anyway, I only saw it once at the movies a billion years ago.
    The only Stallone! movie I like is Demolition Man. “Now -all- restaurants are Taco Bell.”

16. As cheezy as it seemed at the time Judge Dredd on a re-run was actually a pretty good show.
    And who can forget Rambo III with the little Afgani Ewok’s that we all came to love in the 80’s then kill with Smart Bombs in the 21st century?
    I’ll bet Rambo III was responsible for a generation of lost drug addicted kids like LAS supporting little Al Qaeda “freedom fighters” around the world today.
    Just say’n there was powerful messages in Sly’s “entertainment” that motivated millions in one direction or another.

17. Not my cup of tea, but good for him anyway. He can certainly act when he puts himself to it; don’t forget he got nominated for Best Actor for Rocky (and Best Original Screenplay; he wrote the film too). I particularly enjoyed his performance in Rocky Balboa, too.

18. “Rocky” is one of the great movies and Stallone deserves every recognition for its success.
    That his subsequent work might be largely yawn-inducing can never change this.
