Nothing for the unions to worry about. Obama has arrogated to himself the right to enforce the laws as he sees fit. He already gate GM 10 billion dollars through and IRS ruling and nobody talked about impeachment. He can simply make a tax ruling that will override the law, giving the unions 200 billion or so. Problem solved. It is only the naive types who still believe the Constitution who see a problem here.
I thought the administration has, or will soon, exempted the unions from Obama-care. Just give him a few weeks … after all he bought their votes and this will guarantee their vote in the future, It is good though to see the unions feel what the average American will face starting Jan 1, 2014.
Obamacare was the Dem payoff to their insurance industry ( who essentially wrote it) patrons. The bill essentially removes a lot of liability from private insurers and rationalized what liability is left over the tax base – sweet deal for the big private health underwriters – not such a sweet deal for those who must use this new health tax because it outright rations care and treatment worse than out public system – the big losers were those who had comprehensive funded plans from work/unions and seniors on fixed income who are no longer covered on many things they were with medicade/medicare.
Back at the district of criminals the total number of Reps who have fully read the bill remains at 11 (because they have been specifically written out of Obamacare and retain their lush congressional health plan intact) and the government has now delayed full implementation of Obamacare 9 times (because they fear the backlash at the polls?)

Given the high cost model of heath care, the United States simply cannot afford comprehensive universal health care. American doctors pay more in malpractice insurance than doctors in most countries are paid. It may take them 5 years or 20 years but medical care will bankrupt them unless they find a new model or drop the issue.

The argument of “unintended consequences” is a joke. Make a promise of health care for all, for no charge, for which not one cent has been put aside to cover. What did they think would happen?

So as to not let those numerous math courses I took 40 years ago go to waste. Alberta has 1 doctor for 400 citizens. If a doctor works 2,000 hours per year like the rest of us, they work 5 hours per citizen, per year. I have not spent 5 hours with a doctor, or even close, in my life and that include the hour with 2 doctors roto-rootering my heart. Something has to be seriously wrong with the work ethic in the industry.
I think the whole motive has become sucking as much out of the system as it will bear. That’s 5 hours of doctor time per citizen. My math must be wrong. Please feel free to correct me.

My old Union,BCGEU, fell victim in the early 1970’s to these radicals,British ex-labor radicals who came here after wearing out their welcome over there.
These guys ARE the fifth column,the useful idiots with the six-figure salaries,and they’re gaining more credibility with every passing generation. Every time I see this type speechifying to an adoring crowd,I cringe,knowing that the next battle is going to be just that much harder to fight.
So far the Conservatives have managed to appeal to the demographic that still retains some common sense, but most of us are slipping beyond that stage into senility.

Given that LIUNA endorsed Obama for both terms, and presumably donated to his campaign, this goes down as an own goal.
First of all, I don’t know any doctors who work a mere 2000 hours/year — that’s only 167 days worth of work and I’d love to have almost 200 days off/year. Secondly, the calculation is based on the assumption that every person sees their doctor once/year. Some people I don’t see for 10 years, other people I see once a week. When I do hospital work, it’s not unusual to spend a couple of hours/day dealing with a really sick patient until I convince the ICU that we’d all be better off if they just took the patient to the ICU so I could concentrate on my other hospital patients.
Then there’s the people with alcoholic liver disease, COPD patients that still smoke, HepC positive IV drug users and, in Vancouver, HIV positive queers with borderline personality disorder that would use up 2000 hours of clinic time/year were they allowed to. About 1/3 of the patients use up 95% of health care resources and some, despite how much they abuse their bodies, simply haven’t learned how to die.
The solution to the problem is a user pay system but that doesn’t go over well in the socialist nirvana known as medicare.
I think the reason reason this fellow is all stoked up is because he’s going to lose his viagra coverage that’s provided to him in his union plan.
