At The Gods of the Copybook Headings:
…
What do we in English Canada believe? A failed experiment in socialized health care half a century out of date? A society willing to tolerate violent groups committed to its own destruction? An elite dominated by self-hating WASPs keen to erase whatever residue of British government and liberty that still remains? Between nothing and something, however unappealing the something, count on people to go for the something.
While Quebec independence is a pipe dream for financial and demographic reasons, the failure of English Canada to offer a compelling civic nationalism bodes ill for the future. Pandering to Quebec is no longer an essential element in forming national governments, dealing with the country’s rapidly expanding ethnic population will be. Multicultural hotels are not nations, they are decadent constructs that exists only briefly in the fervid imaginations of intellectuals…

I am just peachy with that new charter Quebec is coming out with.
Ordinarily I would oppose it, but since liberals and their lickspittle victim groups have been attacking Christians with such venom…yeah, maybe it is time to sic ’em on the moslems. There is always the possibility that the religion of peace will give them what they have coming because it appears nobody else will. This, in my opinion, is an excellent way to drive a wedge between our political enemies. Regardless of who wins that dog fight, the rest of Canada wins too.
Yep, brings to mind the awkward pre-WW1 construct which was the Austro-Hungarian Empire…..whose internal politics sparked WW1.
Poor English Canada, You – the same people who voted for Trudeau et al. The same folks embracing bilingualism and biculturalism. The same people who sat silently by and re-named “doing nothing” as the “Canadian Way.”
And now you wonder what you believe in?
Well, forget about balls and backbone. Try shooting for accommodation…or semi-peaceful coexistence … for a while.
I find it interesting now that there is more and more discussion of what Islam means to Canada and more threads about it. Hopefully people are reading and viewing the tremendous destruction and butchery going on in muslim countries particularly Iraq, Syria and Libya and relating it to what is down the road for us. Quebec is doing this because they are getting their immigrants from NA and they are having trouble with them, high unemployment and increasing social problems. In my view muslims wearing the hijab, burka and niqab are enforcing and “us/them” focus in our society as they have in Europe.
Doubt if Liberal eyes are being opened but the rest of us must pay attention.
Our immigrants are assimilating just fine. Much hooha over nothing much.
It’s the natives that are the ticking time bomb.
The Canada, I love is mostly in the past. Like the Red Ensign I used to salute. I need to get one of those and fly it just to remind me of British Liberty.
Fighting off the incessant incursions and raids from Ottawa in defense of Western culture and freedom is a 24/7 proposition.
Let your guard down for a moment with the federales and you get a High River incident.
Stephen Harper may have been elected in Calgary but he represents Toronto.
Quebec, seeing what is going on in the U.K. and France, has reason to be afraid.
The rate of Muslim immigration into Canada under the Harper Conservatives means we are only 10-15 years behind Europe, if we’re lucky.
In Toronto it’s more like four years.
Too true buddy. Canada as it was known, is perished in its own apathy to demagogues.
Like wise our Individual liberties.
History will call this time “The terror of the Bureaucrats”
I have to echo the Revnant’s comment.
Very good post. It is very similar to what I was saying in yesterday’s blog post here at SDA. Multiculti was invented by the English and it is deeply ingrained in English culture. English Canada loves its multiculti and it will be its downfall. The inevitable result is Balkanization and destruction of the country.
And don’t say it is just liberals from English Canada. You could see it evidenced very clearly when posters here at SDA were viscerally attacking the Quebec Charter of Values on yesterday’s post.
The Quebec Charter of Values is a full frontal attack against multiculti. As such, conservatives from English Canada should be supporting it, OR if they are not supporting it, they should at least be coming up with their own solution for multiculturalism. But they are doing neither, and they just throw shit with a fan at the Quebec law, just because of their ignorance and irrational hatred of anything French.
I for example see value in the Quebec law requirement to have signs displayed only in French in Quebec. It is also a full frontal attack against multiculturalism and forces the immigrants to assimilate. They realize they are no longer in their home country and that there is a local culture, a local language and local laws to which they have to conform. They cannot bring their customs and laws here because we don’t want to change. They wanted to come here so they should have to change, not the locals. But when these items appear on the news such as when store and restaurant owners in Quebec are fined for displaying signs in a language other than French, the same irrational posters here at SDA instead of seeing value in this for the fight against multiculturalism, were here attacking it.
In Vancouver and Toronto you have entire neighbourhoods without any signs in English at all and where customers cannot be served in English. These immigrants in English Canada DO NOT respect English culture and they DO NOT respect the English language. And they have Canadians conforming to their culture and not the other way round as it should. These people have no intention to assimilate and you can already see the Balkanization starting.
Instead of their usual childish knee-jerk reaction, conservatives from English Canada should copy this law and require that all signs be displayed in English and enact it across all provinces in English Canada.
What do conservatives in English Canada do against multiculturalism? Again, absolutely nothing because they like their multiculti.
Canadians (as opposed to Canadiens) believe in bugger-all.
Multiculturalism means that immigrants can recreate their ancestral societies while Canadians (but not Canadiens) pay for it.
These are features not bugs of Trudeau pere’s Brave New Canada.
Shut and give thanks to your Dead National Liberal God. You can pray to it if you wish.
“You could see it evidenced very clearly when posters here at SDA were viscerally attacking the Quebec Charter of Values on yesterday’s post.”
Sorry, but I beg to differ, there were many on Lance’s post yesterday, That Quebec Thing”, who had mixed feelings about the law and agreed with some of it, the burqua and niqab, and disagreed with some of the other parts.
go read all the posts again.
Right on Ken. Niquab is an annoying visual poke in the eye for people like myself, because I don’t like people rubbing their religion in my face.
But it’s not my business to decide what some random lady wears on her head. She decides that, and then has to live with my displeasure over her choice when she has to deal with me. That’s a free country.
Furthermore if a private company decided to ban all religious garb and symbols from its employees, that company would be in the courts the next morning. I see no reason why the government of Quebec should be immune.
However, the veil/burka/full coverage garbage bag deal is a different matter. As I said to LASsie on the other thread, there’s a profound difference between unidentified person and unidentifiable blob of tenting. We don’t let people run around dressed like ninjas, do we? No. So this is no different.
“…Instead of their usual childish knee-jerk reaction, conservatives from English Canada should copy this law and require that all signs be displayed in English and enact it across all provinces in English Canada…”
Nope. Display a sign or signs in any language you want; if you want to walk around dressed like a bran bag, go ahead; and if you want to pray to the great god Nqa, go ahead.
But don’t expect that (a)I’ll support your business if I can’t read your advertising, (b) you should be able to to drive a car or tender a cheque if we can’t see your face, or (c) I will build a prayer room to accommodate your ablutions and genuflections.
In other words, we just need the right – individually and collectively – to say “No”.
“In Vancouver and Toronto you have entire neighbourhoods without any signs in English at all and where customers cannot be served in English.”
Can you please name those Toronto neighbourhoods? Are you from Toronto?
These immigrants in English Canada DO NOT respect English culture and they DO NOT respect the English language.
“Three Canadian schoolgirls are in the U.S. capital region this week to compete at the world-renowned Scripps National Spelling Bee.
“A year after a Canadian took second place at the famous contest, Jennifer Mong of St. John’s, N.L., Zhongtian Wang of Windsor, Ont., and Vancouver’s Mignon Tsai are among 278 competitors squaring off Wednesday night in the spelling bee’s preliminary round in National Harbor, Md.”

Re: historic revisionism –
“Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.” – George Orwell commenting on the statist socialism’s predisposition for rewriting the historic record for political control purposes
I agree with Rizwan. I live in Toronto, and while there are parts of the Toronto area that are heavily Asian, I have never had trouble being served in English at either restaurants or stores.
And my younger daughter took the Kumon supplemental reading course while in public school. Of the 40-odd students taking it with her, only a couple were white. Everyone else was Asian. Those nefarious Asian immigrants sure have a devious way of showing that they “DO NOT respect the English language”!.
KevinB, agreed that its hard to find a place in Toronto where they won’t serve you in English. Sometimes pretty bad English, but still.
On the other hand, there’s plenty of places I go in Toronto and Mississauga where I’m the only white guy in the joint, and sometimes they look at me funny. Like, “are you lost?”
Only fair I suppose, I look at obvious foreigners funny when they show up in the Cayuga Foodland. Usually they -are- lost and want directions to the race track.
On the whole I prefer the foreigners uptown, myself. The girls are usually better looking (and more polite!) than the pinchy-faced liberals downtown, and the food’s better.
They are Conservative in name only. This government is selling us down the river just as quickly as any LPC or Dipper government would.
