Bruce Bawer of FrontPage Magazine looks at a particularly egregious example of a reporter at a legacy media organization blatantly disseminating unadulterated leftist propaganda:
Case in point: an article in Time Magazine, datelined Oslo, posted on August 19, and written by one Charlotte McDonald-Gibson (hereafter CMG). Entitled “Norway’s Far Right May Come to Power Despite Memory of Anders Breivik’s Killing Spree,” it provides a classic example of what it means to twist the facts beyond recognition in the name of ideology.
The headline alone does a splendid job of telegraphing – to anyone who actually knows something about subject at hand – the article’s breathtaking bias. The reference is to the forthcoming Norwegian parliamentary elections on September 9, which, barring a major upset, are expected to lead to the formation of a government by a coalition of non-socialist parties. The dread prospect to which CMG refers, in short, is that Norway, currently run by socialists, may soon – horrors! – be run by non-socialists.
Read the whole thing (blood-pressure warning) here.
Socialists, leftards, and commies. When, cornered fight like rats.
Lets feed them some rat poison.
Ask a Person of the Left, even mildly left, to describe some of the “Far Right” and you’ll quickly get a response. Then ask them to describe someone from the “Far Left” and you’ll usually get a blank stare.
Norway don’t know what right is, never mind far right, and that goes for all those countries, including all of europe
First up for that reality check . . . Norway
Then Australia . . .

Because socialists always run out of other people’s money to spend on fake crisis and trumped up victim schemes.
Weird. In WWII Norway was invaded and tyranically ruled by anti-semitic socialist foreigners who allied themselves with Muslims. Now the ruling parties in Norway are anti-semitic socialists who side with Muslims. Next they’ll be erecting a statue of Quisling in front of the parliament buildings.
Bawer did a pretty good piece of deconstruction in this one. There’s only one small but important point he missed. CMG tries to label the Progress Party a “folkish” movement. That’s a bit got lost in translation. What it really means to Norwegians is a “volkisch” movement, a term synonymous with German Nazism. This British liar in Brussels really pulled out all the stops on this one.
Bawer: “The Progress Party doesn’t oppose immigration per se; it opposes (as do most Norwegians) the catastrophic immigration policy of the current Norwegian government, which has saddled Norway with a sizable minority of Muslims who don’t work, won’t integrate, take everything they can get, and have nothing but contempt for the people who are giving it to them.”
While I suspect this description is (unfortunately) largely accurate, there is one fairly big caveat. A major reason why many immigrants in Europe don’t find work is the sclerotic welfare state with its high-tax and anti-business policies. Had these disasters not been legislated in the first place, the radical-immigrant problem might well have been much diminished.
I’ve said before that Islam does seem far less compatible with western democracy than most other religious ideologies. Yet many Muslims integrate fairly well anyway, while retaining their faith. The broader problem is one of human psychology, in which the less stable or self-assured persons usually become the troublemakers.
Bawer: “When Progress Party candidate Kristian Norheim, apparently in CMG’s company, walked ‘past photos of Thatcher and Reagan’ in the party’s offices and identified them as the party’s heroes, he was, in CMG’s characterization, ‘at pains to portray the Progress Party as a ‘folkish’ movement guided by Ayn Rand’s philosophy of the power of the individual over the state.'”
If the party were to form a government guided by Ayn Rand’s philosophy, that would probably be the best news out of Europe in decades. It would also be the exact opposite of the Nazi-related term “volkisch” as described by commenter ‘cgh’ above.
It would indeed be the exact opposite. Nazi “volkisch” economic philosophy meant state control over essentially everything.
This bovine scribbler is no “leftist” she’s a full bore commie, and all commies hate Fascists (AKA “the far right”) not because it’s evil but because it is a competitive evil with statist communism, so all competative ideologies become Fascist – only statist communist fascism/ evil is a righteous evil because they are right, er left – Capisce? No? Well go get a MSM commie news hack to explain it to you.
