Obumbles has been trying to hold the hawks in his spook agencies and the pentagon back from nuking Syria and Pakistan for a year now – I guess they finally broke loose on him – either that or he deliberately let the dogs of war lose to take all his scandals off the public radar and give a little payback to the security/industrial complex financial oligarchs who own the DNC.

    Obumbles does not have a middle east policy and never has, his approach has been to say things and hope majic happens, just like his getting a peace prize for doing nothing. The complexities of the dynamics in the ME are far beyond the fools comprehention, and then there is his close advisor, VJ, another failure writ large

So what you are saying Occam, is that more of my tax dollars are about to be dumped into that black hole, the Middle East, ironically this time to support the political aims of a group of people who hate us? No doubt the side effects will involve the accidental killing of innocent children motivating their brothers and sisters to grow up hating us more, all in the name of distracting us from the pathetic job our leaders are doing to run the country and destroy the market….
    Yeah. More of the same is coming.

  8. The geopolitics of Syria is all about containment of Iran. It has been a consistant ME policy by the USA for decades.
    It is Iran and their surrogates who have constantly threatened the future of Israel. Since Iraq is now under the influence of Iran as well not only is Israel threatened but now Saudi Arabia as well.
    I do not automatically believe that Syria has used chemical weapons. It is a public pleasing excuse to up the covert aid being given to rebels in Syria. They appear to be losing their uprising which has hugh implications throughout the Sunni world. After watching the video of the fake demonstrations in Egypt who can believe what you see on the 5 o’clock news.
    Is the battle in the ME economic or religious or a combo? How manufactured is the hate for Israel. The Sauds have used Israel as a scapegoat for all that is wrong for decades. Are the Iranian Shia’s becoming the beacon for the true Islamic believers? Westerners should be reminded that it is the Saudis who have spent
    trillions $ spreading radical Islam around the world. It was not Iranian pilots at the controls of those jets on 9/11.

  13. Like so may other things in this life, if left alone, big problems can often solve themselves. For example, if we get our western asses out of the ME and just mind our own business, the muslims will continue to kill each other and be less and less of a concern to us. When they finally annihilate one side or several sides of their own stupid religion/political philosophy … then we can suggest that they start figuring out how to make a living in their own countries on their own dime and their own steam.

  15. Why do we want to keep killing Arabs? The Israelis do it well and the Arabs, themselves, do it better. Just stay the hell out of there. What possible interest does the West have there? Because people are being killed? That’s a good one. Now what’s the real reason?

  17. The Iraq and Afghanistan misadventures combined with the environmental / social misadventures have bankrupted America to the tune of 15 trillion dollars.. Two separate political initiatives moving in two different directions spending the cupboards bare because they dont have the honesty to call the other one out on their political structural failures..
    Im sure China will give uncle sam an advance on their allowance for another missile or solar panel as long as they do the dishes at the next international meeting 🙁

    Cut off all airline traffic to the Middle East, set up a naval cordon in the – mid-Atlantic perhaps? Deport all people from the Middle East currently in Canada and the US? Or at very least, forbid their return or any contact with relatives? It probably could be done. Does any one of our politicians have the stomach for it?
    Otherwise, Islam will not leave us alone. That is the clear lesson of 9/11. Don’t delude yourself by thinking otherwise. Inducing Muslim to kill Muslim is a good idea but there will always be some left over to go after us.

  23. I don’t see the Arab states jumping up and down in shock over Syria………..or Egypt for that matter.
    I agree with glasnost. Nobody likes to see the innocents pay the price, ever, but it won’t be the last time, and, especially with Obumbles in charge, I don’t see how this turns out well…..
    Let the buggers eat each other, and stay out of someone else’s atttrition.

  24. Actually I can well imagine it. They would probably enjoy sharing some heavy pot together, and I am sure Obama would find Justin attractive….. On a more serious note I sudder to think about the empty suit Trudeau as PM at any time.

    Joe has a point. Russia always has a long range goal in mind whether it be Tsars, First Secretaries, or Presidents for life. While the leaders of the US have only the next election and more free stuff for the masses in mind.

  27. He was trying to give the M-brohood their first air force, he wants to help the Islamists in Syria. And the Syrian Jihadis, I believe are behind the gas attacks.. What does Assad have to gain by being behind a war crime on his own people. He is already winning. The entry of the Americans into the conflict would just push more hatred on themselves. I think the Muslims just want to put more expense on an already financially overburdened US. They want to bring them down like the US brought down the USSR/Russia,by involving them in a rediculously expensive weapons race.

  28. I never thought I’d agree with that sentiment Joe but I too feel the US is backing the wrong tyrant in this conflict, in fact I believe this is a good conflict to stay out of. For one thing it’s not clear who used chemical weapons or if they were even used in the first place. There’s been a lot of staged atrocities in the ME (not that they need to stage them) and I don’t see what ‘Asswad’ has to gain by going chemical, he seemed to be gaining the upper-hand lately. Also there was Obama’s statement about the use of chemical weapons being the ‘red line’ that would draw the US into the fray…that’s a little too convenient for me.
    American politics and policy seem to be off kilter these days. I first sensed it during the Clinton administration and its only gotten worse since 9/11. I have to say for the first time in my life I’m glad I’m not an American and I’m hoping Harper has the good sense to say ‘no thanks’ if we’re invited along for the kill.
