    I too, as a middle aged white women experienced this response – when I visit Toronto and go to Holts the staff rarely serve me. Up until then I thought it was just their fine sense of style which I did not meet, but I now know that Oprah has the exact same experiences. We are soul sisters!!! Who knew!

That Orpah Winfrey (“Oprah” is her stage name) has had her reward several times over is undeniable, and there’s no need to belabour the point that she will find it as difficult to achieve the kingdom of heaven as to pass through the eye of a needle (I dare say the camel would win that race easily).
    I must confess Winfrey was probably correct in her belief, as far as it went, that the Swiss girl in the shop refused to serve her because all the black people she’d ever met were African asylum-seekers. If Winfrey had not merely thought herself the Queen of Sheba, but had been literally an Arabian “princess” come in full hijab, with a daughter or two in tow, to spend her husband’s share of the tribute sent to Arabia from the Christian world, the girl would have been falling over herself to help her look at anything she liked. That the Arab gentry will burn more brightly than Winfrey is quite beside the point when Mammon is your master.
    The Swiss have supported themselves for a long time by giving those who reap where they never sowed somewhere to hide the loot (and lend it back to the poor saps it was stolen from in the first place), and offer their wives, daughters and mistresses any number of opportunities to squander their allowances on luxury. What should horrify you more? That the Queen of the Jezebels is daft enough and has forgotten the value of money so utterly that she’ll squander more on a handbag for a wedding than many here earn in a year? Or that there are enough women like her swanning around Zurich that a shopkeeper can stay in business charging that much for a handbag?
