  1. If I want to find out about the Scopes Trial, of which I freely admit I am almost completely ignorant, I will most certainly not go looking in the popular press.
    In fact I find that as I screen out all popular press from my consciousness, I get better informed every day. Because I’m less dis-informed.

  2. Recently I saw a cartoon in the local newspaper; it had a group of men in a buggy with a “premier’s Spouses” label on the cartoon. The ‘spouses’ (men) were replacing the former ‘Premier’s wives’ of the past and the ‘joke’ was supposed to be that these spouses were all men (the big shots now were the women). I took a moment to count the men married to women premiers – that cart did not have a living man to represent! Clark is single, Redford is divorced, Dunderdale is a widow, Wynne’s spouse is another woman. The only ‘spouses’ in that cart would still be women!
    Even the so called jokes are poking fun at fairy tales. The joke is on the dumb fool who created it. Ironic.

Regardless of how the globalist left media spins the Scopes trial as a victory for statist secularism, of more concern to us is the fact the Darwin theory was being taught in public schools at the direction of John Dewy (the arch progressivist educrat) who saw Darwinism as a way to tear children away from parental/tradition/church influence so the state becomes their mentor. Dewy HATED individualism, critical thinking and independent minds – he was structuring the new order collectivist state through school indoctrinating – creating servants of the state – Scopes was the beginning of the state putting claims on your kids.

    it has been said, that once one questions their “belief” it will no longer survive
    evolution can be tested, a belief is strictly religated to the mind that holds it, so it can NOT be tested

  10. I believe you have that exactly opposite NME666. In Christianity we are commanded to test ALL things to make certain that what we are told and/or believe is true. The same definitely can not be said of the humanist religion and one of its main tenets – evolution. That is an article of faith never to be questioned.

    WRONG. Public schools were already being adopted. The Scopes trial was all about forbidding teaching of Evolution in public schools.

  14. joe, you just proved what I said to my Christian neighbour today (not about religion), that there are 2 things about ppl and their knowledge, one they don’t know(have knowledge in a certain area), and two, they don’t know that they don’t know, and that my good lady is your position on this. You see, the first time I read about “questioning one’s belief” being the first rung to it’s demise was an article by theologian. And subsequently I’v read articles that expound similar POVs on beliefs (all beliefs, not just religious), and that is why scientists should never state in absolutes, as they should always question their “beliefs”. Religions on the other hand do “pretend” to have absolute knowledge of the existence of their “created”(in their mind) god!!

I do get a chuckle out of these atheist/secular humanists who can not see that their particular set of beliefs is every bit as religious as any other belief system not based on fact or proof but rather an attempt to make sense of the world we temporarily inherit. My belief system is based as much on the implausibility of the other ‘religions’ especially the atheist’s causeless causation. They don’t even realize “Evolution occurs because” is an oxymoron. Without a Cause there can be no because. Now what was it that someone said about the beginning of wisdom? It explains a lot about the foolishness of Atheism. Oh and btw to the goof who thinks Christianity is a death cult: Have you ever looked at the mass and I mean mass slaughters that occurred in the 20th century at the hands of the secular humanists? Makes all the other religious inspired killings look like a 3 year old girl’s tea party.

    Do you people never think about anything else? WTF?
    Besides, both sides are wrong. Science is not about Finding Truth. Its about finding mistakes. We hammer on the hypothesis until it breaks, then think up a new one and hammer on that. Everyone who challenges the -theory- of evolution is doing science a favor.
    Christianity is also about finding mistakes. The true Christian looks into his life and finds where he’s being a JERK, and then tries to fix it. Everyone who points out where Christians are full of sh1t is doing them a favor.
    See? Problem solved. Go find something more productive to fight about, whydontcha.

  19. Look at who raises it first all the time. BTW the Bible is a guide book not a rule book and only fools think otherwise. Sometimes you have to join the fray. To paraphrase Kate, not showing up for the discussion is a failed Christian policy. So while atheists/leftists have the field to themselves look at the evil they bring.

    This is the same debate in a different venue as the Scopes Trial.
    I really dunno for sure whether there is a God….but I have reason to believe there are few atheists in fox holes…..
