Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Speaking of train wrecks….
Last Saturday a single empty oil tanker rail car derailed in the Sarnia Ontario rail yard.
Immediately following the report of this, Bucky May tweeted that a 22 car train, loaded with crude had derailed there. Such is the credibility of the Green Party. The city’s mayor
followed up with a demand for retraction and apology from Bucky. Crickets are still chirping…..
The green party has never let facts stand in the way of their ideology.
I left a nasty post on Green zealot May,of the UN Agenda 21 group, expressing my disappointment that a politician who is supposed to be a Leader would spread unfounded rumors.
Apart from repeating lies about AGW/CC, May really has nothing to offer in the way of solutions, just “shut it down” rhetoric. It’s a shame the delusional people in her Riding thought she would be an effective MP.
That’s a clickable image, Ralph.
Nothing to be concerned about. The company says they have it covered.

May is just freaking out over nothing.
Re the train derailment… here is the exact text: “Why is no one reporting the train derailment in Sarnia yesterday? My sources say 20 cars jumped the track.”
So she has said “my sources say” which indicates that she has been lead to believe something. Clearly it’s wrong, BUT it’s very, very different from saying definitively “20 cars jumped the track”. Incidentally, you got you got her tweet wrong too Ralph. She said nothing about crude and you had your numbers wrong, AND your statement was definitive.
I have no sympathy with Mike Bradley. This mayoral turd has been playing footsie with the green slime for the past several years. He was instrumental in blocking the shipment of old steam generators from the Bruce site, and he’s been vigorously opposed to the low level waste disposal facility at the Bruce. In short, when industry tries to do the right thing and manage its wastes responsibly, he’s huddling with GangGreen.
Wield the green rusty knife and get impaled by it, I say.
Woops!
Relying on media reports here John. You know, the always trustworthy mainstream media.
The subsequent newspaper article clarified the items is question.
Poor Lizzie. Her sources also tell her that Global Warming is real, all the climate models work, all the predictions have come true, there is no ice left in the Arctic, Tuvalu is underwater and David Suzuki is not in for himself.
Poor girl, the inability to deal with reality is the first step down the slippery slope of mental instability.
Leftards don’t sincerely apologize. Ever. They’re so steeped in their pseudo-religious dogma that everything they do & say, they believe to be correct. Apologizing for their horrendous actions would bring into question their Faith, so they don’t do it.
Imagine living with one of these cretins. What a horror show that would be! 🙁
Bradley said he received a voice mail message Friday from local resident Ron Plain indicating there had been a 20-car train derailment in Sarnia that had not been reported.
The Observer made repeated attempts but could not contact Ron Plain Monday.
Plain has been found in contempt of a CN court order related to the Idle No More blockade in Sarnia last Christmas. CN is seeking $50,000 in compensation from Plain.
In January, Plain told Superior Court Justice John Desotti, “I do not fear CN…I will run this up the flagpole as far as I can.”
Here is Ron Plain: he appears to be whiter than white, certainly whiter than George Zimmerman.
Well done. Miss May, well done.
Plain may look white but he’s not entirely so.
Just another run of the mill local shit disturber.
Elizabeth May……
Speaking of train wrecks……
I think I am gona change my handle.
You`d be correct, of course.
Over the past twenty years, I have bemusedly and amusedly observed four Liberal mayors/former mayors (including Mr. Bradley), of tertiary southwestern Ontario cities with which I am familiar, who have/had dreams of higher office. I won`t mention the names of two of them, as one is vastly superior to the other three and could pass himself off as a Conservative, if he really wanted to (lots of bona fides, actually).
While all are (more or less) reasonably well-educated and presentable, and all that, the schtick is pretty much the same: feign indignant “defiance” and “concern“ about issues of local relevance, and then cave to the prevailing conventional wisdom, straddle-all-sides position (normally the safety-in-local-political-insider-numbers consensus, as represented by the “views“ of wholly inordinate numbers of other less well-educated and less presentable municipal politicians and the so-called `leaders` of the local legal community). In this regard, it`s not really hard to see the derivation of Mr. Trudeau, Jr.`s act — which is made all the more revolting, IMO, by the latter`s so-called `dramatic` training.
The only one of the four who bit the bullet and actually ran (with Dalton McGuinty in 1999) was Steve Peters, former mayor of St. Thomas. I`m sure history will judge how well that worked out for all concerned. Happily, on the other hand, `present` history has closed the door on these gentlemens` nascent ascendancy, as all of the constituencies concerned have turned to more substantive Conservative members, both provincially (except for one) and federally.
Related: Federal government agency (EAA) delays and possibly gold and copper mine. Harper does nothing.

Heh heh, let it roll! I bet the railway oligarchs never thought the foundation funded loons that were set against their competitors (pipelines) would turn on him attacking the new enviro threat – RAIL transport. The rabid dogs have turned on their enablers.
“Feign indignance and concern” indeed. It’s 32 pieces of steel. They’re the boilers from Bruce 1 and 2. Over the past 30 years, they’ve become mildly irradiated, with small parts of the steel components having been activated. The Swedes have a wonderful process, developed by themselves, of extracting out the 0.000000001 per cent activated material, recycling the steel, and glassifying the activated material (about 1-2 kg).
Yes, that’s it; the actual activated material is between the size of a baseball and a basketball.
It’s shipped in big steel and concrete containers essentially indestructible to any transport accident. If the boat sank off Sarnia, the containers would simply fall intact to the bottom of the St.Clair River even if the boat was completely destroyed. Where they could be leisurely fished up by any floating crane. The hazard of the trip is as close to zero as can possibly be imagined. In fact there is no possible scenario in which residents of Sarnia could possibly receive a measureable dose.
But the nuclear industry tries to do the best thing and look what happens. Mike Bradley raised a huge clamour against it. You cannot imagine how much I despise that opportunistic cretin. I can only hope that Evil Liz well and truly butt-f***s him. They deserve each other.
Well that explains what Lizzy May finds so appealing about Justin Trudeau. She’s found someone that can be taken as seriously as she is.
I pray that they allow her in the next leaders debate just so she can be the comic relief.
The Green Party voters agenda’s exposed.

Does anyone know where the photo of that steamer going through the wall was taken?? My guess is somewhere in France.
It’s a famous photo taken in Paris in the late 19th century. The location is either Gare de l’Este or Gare du Nord (can’t remember which).
The photo is often used as a comic piece, but it’s actually a tragedy caused by brake failure. Underneath the rubble at the bottom, a flower seller was killed.
Actually it’s at Gare de l’ouest, the marquis is barely visible under the clock. It certainly is a classic.
Thanks CGH and DRD.
If you want to see a movie that reflects that era, and takes place (in part) in “La Gare Montparnasse” in Paris, then watch this trailer. It’s an English movie, made for all ages!

So, the moral of the story is that we should be feeding Elizabeth May all manner of random crap so she can make even more of an idiot of herself.
Its like being back in elementary school and playing the telephone game xD
By the way, good work outing Ron Plain as Lizard May’s super secret source.
Forgive me, sir, but I feel compelled to offer you correction. Be careful of your words! I believe, from a purely semantical perspective, of course, that you have overstated your case (understated it, actually; but this is all tongue-in-cheek, anyway), to wit:
– “mildly irradiated” at the “0.000000001 per cent activated material” level is wildly overstated. As you well know, the Ontario Energy Board’s definition of “materiality” is 0.25% of equity, or, to project, for no other purpose than convenience, on to your situation, about 0.1% of total capital employed. So, “mildly irradiated” would be about 100 million times less than “materially irradiated”, by that definition (I recognize that I am mixing metaphors, at this point). Tell me, if you happen to know, at what level radio-oncologists treat their patients, precisely, as a percentage of lethal dose, please? “Mild” might be a word that those professionals would use — at, say, the 1.0% to 2.0% level (I have no idea, of course, but I’m guessing that might be about right; where is Loki or DrD, when you need them, anyway?). So, “immaterial”, or “unnoticeable”, or “immeasurable” would not even cover it, especially when the subject material in question is contained in,
– “big steel and concrete containers essentially indestructible to any transport accident.” And here’s where I’d offer you a further bit of correction: what if the “transport accident” were caused by an errant nuclear weapon test?
So, there!
Heh, heh, heh.
It doesn’t matter what the OEB thinks. It’s the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission that regulates the nuclear industry, so it really doesn’t matter what the OEB thinks about anything nuclear with respect to safety.
Ah, and as for your secong point, that’s good for a mutual chuckle too. If there was an errant nuclear weapon test, as you well know, a few cannisters on the bottom of the St. Clair River would be the least of our concerns.
But there is a more serious point to all this. For years we’ve been bombarded with stuff about earthquake threat and how the entire community would be endangered by hazards at the nuclear plant. It’s long been the contention of those like me that in the event of a big earthquake the nuclear plant would be the only thing left standing.
Now, on a serious note, you asked about radiation effects. In general terms, a whole body dose delivered at once of 1 Gray or more delivered in a very short space of time (say a second or less) is understood to have immediate injurious or lethal effects. (1 Gray is the absorption of 1 joule of ionizing radiation by 1 kg of matter.) The actual radiation dose received varies with the location of the body affected, so I’m not going to go into details, as they’re extremely complicated in converting radiation exposure to radiation dose. It also depends upon the type of radiation, alpha, beta or gamma or neutron, with gamma or neutron radiation being the serious ones.
In the case of cancer treatment, this involves a program of treatments involving 1-2 Gray of radiation typically from gamma or beta. It’s done over a sequence of treatments to allow the body time to recover between them (cancer cells do not regenerate nearly as well as healthy ones.) The treatment is not lethal because it’s concentrated on one very small area of tissue, not as a whole body dose. So yes, medical treatments can involve very high levels of radiation, because the idea is to kill the infected tissue.
