Zimmerman’s lawyers argued that he had acted in self-defense under Florida’s “stand your ground” law, because he believed his life to be in immediate danger. After 16 hours of deliberations, the jury accepted that argument.
(Granted, the story’s hosted on the “/strombo” subdirectory, so a CBC designated Journalistic Standards Free Zone.)
Update: SDA gets results!
Correction: An earlier version of this post contained an inaccurate statement about the defense mounted by George Zimmerman’s legal team. The reference has been removed.

Sent to the left-wing CBC’s ombudsman. They need *something* to do, after all. Left-wing CBC execs just sit around all day. Poor guys… they must get bored.
It’s too easy. You can spend all day every day pointing out the failures in every CBC story produced.
Beyond stupid … these people are just plain useless.
What really cinched it for the jury was that Trayvons shirt was 4 hanging inches from his body when the bullet hit ….. which indicates he was on top of Mr Zimmerman when the gun was fired.
The media also forgot to point out that Mr Zimmerman has a history of standing up for blacks who were mistreated in any manner …. quite the opposite of a racist.
In an incident in which a drunk adolescent son of a Sanford police official attacked a homeless black man named Sherman Ware without provocation …… It was Zimmerman who succeeded in organizing the black community to get results and justice for Sherman Ware.
Defund the CBC. A free country does not have a government run broadcaster.
Zimmerman defended himself under a different part of Florida Law.
It is the “If you are jumped and beaten to the ground by a 6ft 1″ 170 pound drugged up on Slim MMA wannbe thug and are having your life threatened by having you skull beaten into the pavement and your life is in mortal danger, you can fight back back law”
You would think the tall forehead types over at our Broadcorping Castration would know this.
On the other hand, that might be too much to ask. After all the CBC still firmly believes in and pushes the global warming story.
Do you think we should tell them the planet hasn’t warmed up for almost 20 years?
Stevie Wonder said it therefore it must be true.
The frightening or perhaps maddening thing about this disinformation is that it is deliberate and done for a purpose and that purpose is to present a false narrative of something that needs change, something that is broken and needs change. In this case nothing is broken except the CBC.
Welcome to The Narrative©
It’s not just the CBC. It’s a meme amongst the leftards everywhere that this was a “Stand Your Ground” case. It’s not, and never was. “Stand Your Ground” simply means that one has has no legal duty to flee when menaced by an attacker, but can exercise self defense. Zimmerman could not have fled if he had wanted to, not with being on the ground with a 170 pound hood rat straddling his body.
But the left hates, simply hates, SYG laws, because they affirm the common person’s inborn right of self-defense.
I used to like Stevie Wonder. Just because he’s blind doesn’t mean he’s someone about whom one should feel sympathy.
I now consider him a total imbecile. He’s more than just blind: He’s willfully blind. He chooses not to “see.”
Stevie wonder whined and said he was boycotting Florida. I don’t see what the big deal is. It is not like he’s going to see what he hasn’t seen the last time he went to Florida.
Love the comments over at the CBC so-called “story”.
“Official Propaganda Arm”
LOL!
Stevie Wonder? Didn’t he have some hits 50 years ago? When does one become as Has Been? Apparently he believes he’s black but doesn’t know for sure. It doesn’t stop him from hating a South American Indian/African/and White mix.
The whole spin taken by the agenda media is summed up early in this disingenuous screed – “The case has generated national debates in the U.S. about race relations, civil rights, and gun control, and after the not guilty verdict, protests took place” – now here we see the editor/author, substituting personal bias/opinion for fact. The political/NGO elite driving the anti-Zimmerman slander campaign in the media have agendas – these are spelled out in their media sycophant’s code words – “Gun control” means the pogrom against gun owners, the 1st amendment, justifiable self defense and armed civilians upholding the rule of law – “race relations” is the new lefty code for subverting polarizing race politics into every unrelated issue – and “civil rights” is code for the new martinet statism which removes civil rights and onstitutional rights and instills in their place state-vended privilege/entitlements on a race/ethnic/sex/political pecking order.
Obviously “fact checking” is anathema to propagandising such agendas and by extension, any news organizations, journolist and media spin bunny (like Stumblebumbolus) are part of the disinfo net which these statist pogroms employ. It is also why a quickly awakening public reject MSM spin with a virtual cratering in their viewership/subscribers and public credibility.
and the Toronto sun keeps using that trayvon photo from when he was 12 yrs old, it ain’t just the lefttards, it’s the whole bunch of them
“Defund the CBC. A free country does not have a government run broadcaster.”
Amen to that. Even if the CBC was an accurate, honest and unbiased broadcaster, do we really need to fork out a billion plus dollars year after year to keep it propped up? I think not. As it is, the CBC is totally biased, inaccurate for the most part in its reporting and totally lacking in integrity. Spending even a dime of taxpayers’ money to keep this bloated parasite alive is just wrong in so many ways and borders on insanity.
That’s the CBC for you. It’s biased, unneeded, nonfactual and comes at a price only a taxpayer can hate.
“…if the CBC was an accurate, honest and unbiased broadcaster…”
You know what, if you added thorough to that list, and my tax-dollars gave me that, I would have bugger-all to belly-ache about.
CBC and the word “fact” do not belong in the same sentence.
Stevie Wonder, he OLD.
If Zimmerman didn’t have a gun he wouldn’t be here today.
