  2. George Zimmerman Not Guilty!
    I feel bad about Trayvon Martin. I do not relish his death and I feel bad for his parents. But convicting Zimmerman would have been very wrong given what happened. This remains a tragedy, but a conviction would have been a travesty.

  11. I think this is the same group that regularly feeds people in front of Calgary City Hall each week. City Hall has issues with them, they give food away, tell folks they’re loved unconditionally, talk to them as though they were actual humans.
    I can see why the current City Hall doesn’t like them.
    A similar group was singing down the street from there yesterday at 4 pm … on the main C-train line, 7th ave & about 1st street. They sounded at least as happy as those others wandering around aimlessly until dawn, but they don’t usually puke on anyone.

    “It’s very questionable whether the handbrakes were properly applied on this train,” Edward Burkhardt, the chairman of Montreal, Maine and Atlantic Railway, told a crowd of angry townspeople on Wednesday. “As a matter of fact, I’ll say they weren’t or else we wouldn’t have had this incident.”

  14. Edward Burkhardt is lying through his teeth. Air pressure is applied to both the hand brakes and car brakes to keep the brakes OFF!! If there is any fall in pressure,then the brakes APPLY. A train sitting idle,with an engine(s) running and air pressure up,is not moving simply because the engines are keeping it in place.Air pressure must be applied to release the brakes.It is a fail-safe system.A train with 5 engines and over 200 cars moving at 60 mph is doing so because the engineer has applied power to the engines to move the damn thing. If for any reason,there is a lose of power in even one engine,the air drops and the brakes,on all cars,start locking up.Yes,it will take 70 seconds to stop that much tonnage moving at that speed,but it cannot start moving on its own.
    Another point.On any CNR/CPR train carrying even one car with dangerous goods,there are 2 engineers,and at least 1 conductor.And no CNR/CPR engineer would park his/her train on a hill!!
