This Is Awkward

Sun News;

In yet another shocking twist to the gas plant e-mail saga, Tory MPP Vic Fedeli told the media late Wednesday that gas plant e-mails previously thought blown away by key Liberal staffers have suddenly turned up.
He said he has been informed by Information and Privacy Commissioner Ann Cavoukian that “a lot of records were found” and a “significant number” related to the cancellation of two gas-fired plants in Oakville and Mississauga.
The e-mail records, he added, belonged to Craig McLennan, the former chief of staff to the energy minister, who’d previously told the gas plant committee under oath that he’d deleted all of his e-mails.

  1. Oh, I’ sure he deleted them. And I also quite sure some unknown tech in the background reminded someone of a little thing called “backups”…

  2. As rat mentions, my bet is that a higher up person in IT services at Queen’s Park does not want this to come anywhere near his/her department and their personnel, and has taken it upon the dept to dig out the backups and recover any possible email.
The only way email disappears forever is if the email is removed from the server and the clients, the logs are trashed, the backups are trashed, document management systems are wiped along with its backups, and any paper copies are destroyed.
That’s a lot of IT knowledge and server-level access by LPO “Staffers,” neither of which they have.
I highly doubt IT was complicit in the email deletion and they are now making sure the legal buck doesn’t get down to them. As I tweeted when this broke, the only way email have been deleted is by order from either the minister or the deputy demanding IT break the law. And THAT will be recorded somewhere, assuming IT at QP are not a bunch of complete masochistic morons.
    But that’s just a theory….

  3. I thought this terribly uncivilized comment from a fellow at the Sun link comments should be repeated, just to show how barbaric (sorry Justin) some people can be!
Earl:”And these crooked , lying liberal sonsabitches have the gall to stand before the cameras and deny? Lynching would be too good for these lying thieves.”
The fact that I totally agree with him should not dissuade others from doing the civilized thing, demanding a Royal Commission, which will solve absolutely nothing, and can be followed by another Royal Commission whenever it’s convenient.
But the sound of that,”ROYAL COMMISSION” rolling and thundering off the tongue of a politician full of faux outrage just kind of makes a tingle go up my leg.

  4. As I’ve stated several times this level of malfeasance mimics organized crime – it will never end until we start prosecuting and incarcerating these political gangsters.

  5. This issue, along with the Levin file are mysteriously absent from the Mainsteam Media…
Go ahead and google either and only the odd headline from Sun, etc. pop up. Type Ford and you still garner a fair number of hits, not about Ford trucks or cars either.
Justin Trudeau was glad handing his way around the Green and White lounge before Friday’s game. Yes, I just shook it and quietly sat back down…
Following seeing the picture of him cavorting with Wynn and the Pedophile at the gay pride deal in Toronto has made me wash that hand repeatedly. Of note, the flag he has in the that picture was no where to be seen in the Green and White lounge.

  6. ONTLIBGOV’s IT unofficial on the job training must have soared after they
were all caught flatfooted (sorry) in their own initial web ignorance during
their unsuccessful Caledonia OPP deletion forays. Those gas plant deletion
attempts apparently showed a much more sophisticated understanding of just how
deep into the IT server systems they would need to voyage before erasure was
certain and who they would have to brace face to face to make it happen. Yet
even at that level, there is almost always lots of good data kicking around
in dead boxes that pile up over time if you know where to look. Given enough
money and effort to get them sent through data recovery ……

  7. Did they find the emails in Benjamin Levin’s files?
oh I know, there’s nothing connecting them but their liberalness…
    their liberalosity?

  8. Pay attention to Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing Temiskaming (North Bay).
He been on fire since his election, exposing the Libs in one energy scandal after another. He doesn’t let up.
Of course the Redstar ignores him.

  9. If they cannot put DM into the can can they at least go after the mendacious Mr. Campbell? He has not only committed perjury, he was annoyingly arrogant and dismissive to the panel as well.

  10. “…gas plant e-mails previously thought blown away by key Liberal staffers have suddenly turned up…”
Look how effective The Dildo’s green energy act is! I mean, a guy just can’t get away with anything these days.
You throw something in the trash, and it automatically resurfaces in the blue box! Amazing

  11. Dalton McGuinty probably came close to perjuring himself on his last appearance before the committee. Thing is, how could any court convict a person like him of lying? They would have to prove that he distinguishes between truth and lies, but his whole career has demonstrated that he does not. He always says whatever he thinks best suits his argument at the time, truth or lies just don’t exist for him.

  12. Vic Fideli is the real deal, so glad he joined the Tory’s.
His win was contested as it was so close, 16 or 17 votes, iirc.
I’d back him as a potential future PM.
He crossed over for the last election did he not? Wonder if that anything to do with this sudden appearance of ‘deleted’ emails?
