Council of Canadians, June 26th: Council of Canadians opposes the Energy East pipeline
Sun News, July 6: A train transporting crude oil derailed and exploded early Saturday morning in a town three hours east of Montreal, forcing the evacuation of the town’s downtown and flooding a river with crude.

Same mentality that gave us the Terrible Twisty Toxic lightbulbs. Envirofascism. I was watching Brian Lilley last night on Sun, do an update on this one about the Toxic Twisted Lighbulbs, best stock up on the old incandesents, as they will no longer be for sale soon in Canada. The piece explained about the mercury and other toxins in these new lightbulbs. And how you have to evacuate the area for awhile after one breaks and how you must dispose of them as toxic waste etc. More scary sh*t forced on us all by the elite few Green Envirofascists who seem to always get there way.
Evacuation? Any word on whether the RCMP have moved in yet to confisca…. err secure firearms left out in the open in locked containers?
I suspect that the Council of Canadians is opposed to the transport of oil in any manner, unless a Kommissar is in control.
RFB, exactly. We have a fairly large supply on hand.
Everyone knows that carrying oil above-ground in 15,000 ton steel projectiles going 50 or 60 mph on tracks that cross multiple roads is far safer than letting it flow through underground pipelines.
We can thank the brainless environmental lobby for acres of Metal that brings in a trickle of energy, while mutilating birds by the thousands because of their unfounded fears.A blight on the landscape as well. High energy prices. On it goes with every twisted innovation. There real reason to exist is to undermine Western industry through incompetence. Whacked out theories that do more damage than good. All for foreign monies.
Pipelines are obviously more safe. Yet to these numskulls only their dogma matters.
The Religion they espouse is as bad as the cult of Islam.
Only they figure they can save the World through crazy policies, but never criticise their contribiters like China for REAL problems. Its a money scam married to Paganism.
If it produces this bad fruit you know its a poisonous tree.
Council Of Canadian Traitors.
A repeat of a pipeline in eastern Canada going west is safe but one going east is unsafe? The same pipeline changing direction of flow suddenly becomes too dangerous to risk? What are western or Alberta independence parties doing nowadays? Then we can get back to making money, Ontario can get back to being an exporter of low cost trinkets to the US market and Quebec can continue doing very little, suckling on the Ontario teat.
This is mental Maud Barlow’s band of suicide suppositories again. The new batch of lefties she leads are o deranged they think her senility is aged wisdom.
Council of “Canadians”? How about Council of deranged Canadians?
I commented on the CBC site that if the oil had been transmitted by pipeline this wouldn’t have happened. The Lefties eviscerated me with “Remember Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo Kalamazoo!”
Total abject morons!
They may have gotten off lucky THIS time, but if you’re going to move crude in tank cars through inhabited areas, eventually there IS going to be a disaster.
There may be some deaths in this one, it was unclear from media speculative reports. Let’s hope not.
One thing the envirofascists never say about Kalamazoo is that the Kalamazoo River has been a Superfund site since 1990 as it is contaminated by PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) due to a variety of paper mills waste and other waste disposal into the river. A photograph was released on October 5, 1953 in Life Magazine showing the Kalamazoo River with huge amounts of floating dead carp.
The ecofascists like to pretend the river was pristine and never mention that while Enbridge cleaned up its mess, the EPA was left to clean up the mess from the paper mills and other industry.
So when the ecofascists bring up the Kalamazoo, jam it right back down their throats.
Time to look through my old T-shirts and find the one that says “Let the Eastern bastards freeze in the dark.”
Trains carrying oil are just “pipelines on wheels” leftard enviro-nazis thinkthis is better than stationary pipelines.
Afterall Bill Gates and his CN rail and Warren Buffet and his SantaFe Rail are Oblameya supporters so it must be ok!
A driver-less freight train carrying tankers with thousands of gallons of petroleum products derailed at high speed and exploded into a giant fireball in the middle of a small Canadian town early on Saturday,
destroying dozens of buildings and leaving an unknown number of people feared missing or dead.

That Black Son of a Bitch in the White House and his environmental turds bear much of the responsibly for this disaster.
Remember Keystone Pipeline?
Not taking away the responsibility of the railroads,
which will probably be sued into oblivion.
Millions of human beings have been killed or injured by these same environmental turds and it is about time for some Payback..
Could only take a few seconds of the incredible stupidity displayed on the council of senile moonbat Canadians web site. They don’t want the oil sands developed because, if we do, we won’t be getting our power from bird blenders. Why do moonbats like this get any publicity?
So now I expect the watermelons to start digging looking for a pipeline explosion that was as massive. They’re not going to find one unless they toss in the Russian pipeline explosions which are largely as a result of meeting targets of the last 5 year plan regardless of quality, and the Nigerian ones where people drill holes into pipelines to obtain cooking fuel. The biggest pipeline explosion I can recall immediately was a gasoline pipeline in Bellingham that leaked and created a massive bang about 10-15 years ago. Surprisingly, damage was fairly light and it took a bit of driving around a week later to find the singed trees in a park where most of the damage occurred.
According to the Sun News story, each railcar was carrying 100 tons of crude and there were 75 cars — that’s a lot of fuel. I guess the good news is that it wasn’t a train carrying the same tonnage of propane. Pipelines are far far safer ways of transporting crude oil and other petroleum products and why there is so much opposition to them is curious. Given the increase in rail traffic for oil transport, I predict that we’ll see more incidents like this one.
You realize that it’s the enviro-nuts and low info voters who suck at the whole “omg mercury” in the CFL’s right? And you do realize that tube florescents also contain 5mg of mercury. No one gave a rats ass about breaking a tube, and most still don’t. But it’s all hysteria over CFL’s. Well personally I don’t like them anyway–all I see from them is flicker, flicker, flicker. I prefer the new style LED bulbs that are out. And if anyone is looking for a good brand, I suggest looking at CREE bulbs.
Eli
I used to have 90k sq ft under roof, and incadesents would be a bit difficult to lite the place, so florescents made sense, butt what dugs the sh!t outa me is that when the gov’t asked us to use CFLs, we did, and consumption went down, so did revenues, so then the bassturds jacked up the price to offset the revenue lose.
Eli, if you see fluorescent bulbs as flickering, that suggests that your flicker-fusion frequency is higher than 60 Hz. Out of curiousity, do you have trouble watching movies? Most people have a flicker-fusion frequency less than 30 Hz and thus are able to watch TV, watch movies and perceive fluorescent bulbs as giving a steady light.
I like fluorescent bulbs and hate CFL’s. My tube fluorescent’s will last for years and they’re generally left on continually given their low power consumption. I far prefer their light to that of incandescent bulbs although with automatic light balance and color correction in new digital cameras it’s not as much of an issue for indoor photography. I still remember the days of when one used to have to buy Tungsten color film to do indoor color photography when the lighting was incandescent bulbs.
Perhaps it’s the many thousands of hours I spent in labs during my youth working many nights in a room brightly lit with fluorescent ceiling lights. I now know that bright light causes a stimulant effect and might explain the programming marathons I used to partake in under brightly lit keypunches and computer terminals. I find other people rarely share my taste in lighting and so I have incandescent bulbs as well for those whose preferred illumination frequencies lie closer to the infrared.
Exactly! Overhead and have to pay the unions you know.
Council of Canadians ? That name needs some revision as it sure as hell doesn’t speak for me, or most of the followers on this site. Sure sounds impressive but in reality it should be changed to Council of Canadian wing nuts. I would guess it has a large CBC following. Any collection of eco freaks should be barred from using the word Canadian.
The Council of Canadians seem to think that the watermelon perspective is a uniquely Canadian phenomenon. Forty years ago there were a significant number of Red Tories involved but it’s pretty much NDP now. Anti-American except for fellow travelers like Soros.
Never forget that the banning of incandescent light bulbs is Stephen Harper’s doing.
Never forget.
It would cost very little to build a new plant here in Canada to supply Canadians and enterprising Americans too.

do U understand POWER transmission????
or are U engaging in political stoopidity

I see you made a non sequitur there, satan.
“A repeat of a pipeline in eastern Canada going west is safe but one going east is unsafe? The same pipeline changing direction of flow suddenly becomes too dangerous to risk”
This is the modern equivalent of freight trains going west travel free but freight going east is taxed – the Laurentian elite, as well as historically controlling Canada’s federal government policies, control our crony capitalist system as well. Nothing much has changed since confederation there.
Cheap abundant western oil threatens the fuel monopoly a few Laurentian families have on oil import, refining, distribution and fuel price fixing in the east. Moonbats like Maude Barlow and Laurentian elite puppets like Mad Tom Mulcair and the Shiny Pony™ actually work for eastern monopolist interests to protect those interests by turning their crass market rapacity into a so-called moral/patriotic cause and attack their competition so their venal puppet legislators have a flimsy excuse to retard the nation’s energy self-sufficiency – and in the bargain fatten the bank accounts of their patron energy monopolists.
The convergence point for both these collectivist zealots and corporate cronyism is the need to keep us reliant on government and its crony monopolist patrons. This has been the political agenda from confederation onward – there is little doubt that if western oil and energy company competition were allowed into protected eastern monopoly markets with cheap abundant oil and natural gas and new refining competition/capacity, the east would have some of the world’s cheapest energy and become a manufacturing powerhouse again – but eastern monopolists and their puppet politicians fatten themselves with reliance on high energy prices and protected markets – which is destroying our manufacturing self-sufficiency as well .
I wonder if the fools who march lock-step behind Maude Barlow realize they are working for the likes of Irving Oil and its crony corporate ilk?
Yeah well, I recall a few years back Suzukster, treked cross country in a big diesel bus…..to his eventual goal of joining a protest in St.John’s to stop Irving Oil from building a new oil refinery.
Explain that one.

OK.
We want all those nasty abattoirs closed down but we still want to enjoy that Big Mac.
Is it possible that sabotage had something to do with this train running free?
