  1. Kathy Shaidle has commenced publishing a once-a-week (Tuesdays) column at PJM in which she will keep Americans informed of what’s happening in Canada. In her first one she dispels a few common myths/misconceptions/false assumptions about the differences between two countries.

  2. “Today, there will be no fireworks shows at Camp Lejeune, Fort Bragg, Shaw Air Force Base, Pearl Harbor-Hickam, or McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
The media is spinning that the lack of fireworks shows is because of Obama’s sequester (which of course is being blamed on Republicans.) In Pittsburgh, a company offered Camp Lejeune fireworks show free, but still the Obama regime said no. So try and understand this. There is $100 million for Obama’s Africa vacation, $7 billion for electricity in Africa, $600,000 to waste on Facebook likes for the State Department, but no money for a fireworks show at Camp Lejeune. Yea, ok.”

  3. In a profane, dyspeptic post (h/t American Digest) titled Gay Marriage: “What-The-F***-Ever”, Jack Donovan – who is gay – explains why he is strongly opposed to gay marriage, and why he is past caring at this point. Short excerpt:
“Every day American culture is a little more like a Black Mass against nature and manhood and anything decent or beautiful or noble or worth saving. Western Civilization has become a Black Mass for Western Civilization. Everything our better fathers believed in has been spit on and placed like a tainted Host between the yeasty thighs of a giggling whore.”
    Speaking of which,

Rapper Jay-Z has placed artwork for his forthcoming album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, next to the 1215 Magna Carta in Salisbury Cathedral.”

  4. ‘Dean of Salisbury the Very Revd June Osborne told the Salisbury Journal that she was “delighted” Jay-Z had chosen the Cathedral to display his artwork.
She added: “Jay Z is creating a huge awareness of this historic document and its modern significance to a huge audience … We hope to welcome many of his fans here this summer to see the artwork”.’

So they’re not even pretending that there’s a school system anymore.

  5. Toronto police board drafts report on“dooring”:

The chair of the Toronto police board has drafted a report on recording “dooring” accidents — when cyclists collide with an abruptly opened car door — which aren’t currently tracked.

    ..
    Tee Hee..

Councillor Mike Layton, who was doored on Bathurst St. in April, said, “I think it would probably be worthwhile” to keep track.
“It doesn’t seem like it would require too much effort . . . Part of keeping cyclists safe is being able to keep track of what type of concerns there are.”
Councillor Adam Vaughan, who was also doored recently — “It hurt like hell” — said he asked police last year to set up an online database on which cyclists could report when and where they are doored. (Police spokesperson Meaghan Gray said she was unaware of any such request.)

Have there been any recent Toronto dog shows?

Alberta is putting its taxpayer money where its mouth is, agreeing to pay up to $5-billion over 20 years to get crude to Canada’s East Coast.
The province has signed a memorandum of understanding to take up to 100,000 barrels-a-day of firm capacity on TransCanada Corp.’s proposed Energy East pipeline, the energy ministry said in its annual report.

Also Nenshi advocates stealing from home depot.
When explaining what that means, Nenshi used the example of a fence that needs reinforcing.
“We can go to the Home Depot and steal their fence, and use it without asking,” said Nenshi when addressing media last week.”

  9. “Mafia turning to wind farms to launder money”
“(BRUSSELS) – The Italian mafia is ramping up investment in wind farms to launder money and benefit from EU subsidies, according to a Europol report published on Thursday.
Europe’s policing agency said an analysis of the financial activities of the Italian mafia’s four groupings found wind farms to be the most popular target for dirty money within the renewable energy sector, itself a criminal favourite.
“The Italian mafia is investing more and more in renewable energy, especially in wind farms, to profit from generous European grants paid for by member states which allow them to mix dirty money with legitimate economic activities,” the report said.”

  12. Fiddle boy fiddles while Calgary parades. Give Phil a call fiddle boy. Kindred spirits need to stick togetherr

  13. Yeah, Calgary, the home of the dependent western spirit. With the mayor to prove it..heh

  14. So, where’s the watchdog to look into the confiscation of the public treasury for flood ‘victims’ who chose to live in a slough?

  15. You could volunteer to be the watchdog fiddle boy. You don’t appear to have much on your plate. In my case I am waiting for the sun to come out so I can make some hay.

  16. No comment on the juxtaposition? That’s expected…just snide comments, like all leftists resort to when they have no answers.

“RWE npower closes Tilbury biomass power station”
“The blow to the UK’s renewables industry was welcome news to some green campaigners who argue biomass is unsustainable”
“RWE npower is halting operations at its Tilbury biomass power station, with the likely loss of 220 jobs, in a blow to Britain’s renewable power industry.
But some green campaigners welcomed the closure, which will take effect from the end of October, as they argue biomass use on a large scale is environmentally unsustainable.
The closure will also raise further concerns over the ability to “keep the lights on” as an increasing number of ageing power stations are taken out of service.”

  20. How ironic if Ottawa were to beat Detroit in the East finals and go on to win the Stanley Cup 🙁

  21. Comments coming out of High River that some of the problem was caused by a recently-constructed bridge downstream of the town. Apparently, it became blocked by debris and so functioned as a dam.

  22. Thank-you for that link to Afghanistan, EBD. The video at the bottom of the page is very interesting. I remember when America (Bill Clinton, I think) stabbed the Afghanistan people in the back; it made me sick. Sylvester Stallone made a movie about the resistance fighters in Afghanistan vs Soviets and Tom hanks starred in a movie about a Texas Senator who tried to help the people of Afghanistan. The latter, “Charlie Wilson’s War”, was based on a true story. Hollywood when some were still good.
It is always good to learn both sides of any story, IMO.
