Sustainable…Steak? – small dead animals

That first “s” word is now effectively, for right- (in that other sense of the word) thinking people a meme to identify elliptically all those things they support and those they condemn. From sustainable development to sustainable transportation. And we already have sustainable food, more from a usual suspect.
Having just eaten a superb, barbied on charcoal, one-pound and thick rib steak (gnawed to the bone as best one could) one is both glad and sad to be of a certain age.
By the way the perfect and only side: watercress. Does that green one? A bit?

The drivel on politically correct food just keeps piling up higher and deeper. Of course all this Euro “grow local” stuff is all just disguised protectionism to keep African farmers poor. But then the Left doesn’t want a prosperous Africa, it wants one perpetually grateful for economic table scraps.

Now we can add rabid vegetarians to the stew of social chaos.Hitler was ons. Need I say any-more.
What I find disheartening. Is the fact sooner or latter someone will clone meat, like we now are skin for grafts. Steak Vat farms anyone?

What’s household water usage have to do with anything? I make sure I put a little something extra into the river every time I flush. Low flush toilets are particularly stupid. Cities that have halved their water consumption have doubled their rates. The expense is in capacity not throughput. If we can afford to burn in cars potential food for billions of people as ethanol or bio-diesel, we have no problem yet.

Stalin was big time into sustainable this and sustainable that. Millions got 600 gm in the labour camps. If you became to ill to work, collapsed and were sent to the infirmary, your ration was cut to 300 gm. Of course most eventually died before their terms were up.
Those less equal than others and who actually had to work on the state farms or elsewhere had rations not a whole lot better than 600 gm and were constantly trying to steal a few extra potatoes or a few handfuls of grain.
Somehow I think the modern sustainable mantra it connected to the same sort of ideology.
No doubt the lefties that frequent this blog on occasion would approve.

Venison, wild duck wild trout/salmon/walleye and pheasant beat all that store bought feed lot crap all to hell – and it’s been sustainable for a couple million years. Beef steak and shrimp cocktail is the refuge of poor/lame hunters. Self reliance or dependence.
All this blab about domestic meat production being unsustainable is the demented delusion of population control psychopaths – don’t allow any politician to get near your food choices or production – they can’t get out of the ration/tax/ban tunnel vision – when psychocrat meets food supply regulating, we are in deep do do.

Oh Yum, Canada Day. 8 Racks of baby back ribs, and Alberta Beef Rib and T Bone Steak, home made potato salad and fireworks, and shoot the hell out of those AK47’s and repeater shotguns. Oh almost forgot the Indian TV a great big day long fire, try and keep it at least 4-5 feet high. Yahoo. Gawd I love Alberta.

Oh wonderful! My favorite barbeque-cook likes to mix a few sausage in with his steaks. I never thought of eating watercress with steak – sounds great.
Will someone please define “sustainable” for me? And explain to me why we are encouraged to
send food to Africa? Africa is agriculturally fertile. When anyone listens to Africans,
they will say that what woud make a real difference to their economies would be lower tariffs on their agricultural products. Frankly, the post-colonial oh so virtuous PC leftists are far more arrogant, and in most instances (i.e. leaving Leopold II out of it) more harmful (e.g. the DDT ban) to Africans than the colonial powers ever thought of being.

The whole Africa starving thing is so hilarious. Only brain dead leftwing Liberals buy that load of crap anymore. China owns over 100M acres of prime African farmland and ships all the food home. Saudi Arabia and India also in on this scam. All the while STUPID WHITE LIBERALS are sending money from the west and demanding we send BILLIONS to feed Africans. What? The Chinese, Indians and Arabs are hauling away their food, but we should send more. I say NO. Let them figure it out themselves. NO MORE FOOD FOR AFRICA. Unless they pay market rate.

The two categories of ‘sustainables’ that the left never speaks of is the size and power of government and the size of public debt. We are living through what happens when government gets too big and borrows too much money. Not so much those of you in the western provinces but those of us in Ontario will be paying for McGuinty’s screw-ups for decades.

Right. How can a continent that produces chocolate, coffee, petroleum and various produce be poor? Just as in North Korea (which could grow its own rice and trade if it wanted), the decisions are political. Furthermore, I think this food sustainability and eating insects nonsense is just a bunch of fear-mongering. We’re the fattest generation and there is a problem securing food?

Cracks are starting to show for sure.. Dambisa Moyo is especially difficult for the aid industry apologists to ignore.

What I’m going to do in the next few days is to write a letter to the local towns “sustainability department” asking them to look into completely unsustainable property taxes and school fees. I just have to dig up my previous years property taxes but it seems that they’re higher every year. Considering that it cost 1/10 or less the current amount spent/student to educate us in the 1960’s then I’ll also suggest that the education budget be cut to that extent as spending more and more money has just resulted in stupider and stupider people graduating from high school.
Will be interesting to see what kind of a response I get and I’ll play the doctor card in my first letter which will guarantee there will be a response. Surprised more people aren’t swamping the “sustainability” departments which are sprouting up at a totally unsustainable rate all over the country.
