Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I guess the liberal “supporters” where too busy or something….
Remember though,we’ve been told by all the pundits to take him seriously.
No problem, he gets the criticism a serious candidate would get if they pulled a stunt like this…ridicule.
Over to you PPG, start treating him like a serious candidate and vet him like one….we know how they would act if his name was Stockwell Day.
I wouldn’t be able to be that close to him and maintain my best behavior. I’d heckle him and insult his parentage, both real and assumed.
“How’s your dad doing? Is he going on tour with the other Rolling Stones this summer?”
Media was furious anyone would darken The Justin’s day, and discussed beating up the protestors….lacked the required nerve. Or co-ordination.
Justin Trudeau is the idiot son of a successful Marxist (and thankfully dead) Prime Minister who thinks he can take over where dad left off.
This is going to be one of the most entertaining episodes in Canadian history. JT is dumber than Obama, but they do share a political philosophy guaranteed to fail and cause a world of hurt to all of us.
I will watch with amusement and ultimately, schadenfreude will occur.
Baby Turdoh gives me a whole new respect for a bag of hammers.
I wonder if some younger Canadians frequently confuse Justin Trudeau with Justin Bieber. The sad thing is, would anyone know the difference?!
Robert, that’s not hard.
One of them has actually accomplished something.
The other is still working on it.
Here’s 3 questions which I would love for David Menzies to go out on the streets of Toronto and randomly ask the under 25 set:
1. With the federal Liberal Party now doing well in the polls, how do you feel their leader, Justin Bieber, is generally doing?
2. How do you feel about his policies so far?
3. Could you name 2 of his policies?
Related. This is what happens when conservatives show up to riot. The press now wants to hunt them down.
Robert
Going to have to clarify that last point.
I’ve just been shown an alleged cell phone video, that allegedly shows someone that looks like Justin in what allegedly appears to be someone in the act of fathering a child. Said video was shown in a vehicle late last night by Ethiopian crack dealers.
Unfortunately, due to the fact that they want $200k for the video I’ll just have to take it as gospel that Justin is the father of his children.
I had a short conversation with two young ladies today. One is under 30 the other under 25. Both spoke of JT. Both said they wee intending to vote PM Harper because JT was such an intellectual flyweight. I guess the younger one had seen JT get told to be quiet the adults are talking here by PM Harper in question period.
“transformative transparency”
JT has the same speech writer as Obama?
He’s all for fancy language like “going forward”, “moving on”, “transparency”.
When does he say anything substantive?
Quote from one young lady I know was “it would be cool to have a good looking Prime minister”
Yes. Trudeau is nothing more than an idiot who has absolutely no idea how to run a garage sale, never mind a country. However, many voters also fit into this mold. Couple this fact with a never-ending barrage on the “control freak” Stephen Harper, the “scandal-plagued” Stephen Harper and the “mean” Stephen Harper by the media who seem obsessed with throwing sh*t at the Prime Minister in the hope that some will stick.
Canadians, by and large have gone unscathed by the economic sh*t storm that has ravaged most of the world due in no small part to PMSH’s leadership and policies. This fact goes unnoticed by many voters who are simply uninformed or, thanks to the media, misinformed.
Although there is no doubt that Trudeau is no more than a joke, he should not be taken lightly since much of the electorate does not wish to be bothered with facts.
He would have had better luck addressing his speech to the 24 Senators from Quebec, as he seems to think that is his natural constituency.

The media in Canada is disgusting.
The fellow,Chris Rands, who wants to find out the name and employer of the Justin protesters works for …… CBC.
He should be fired.
james.moore@parl.gc.ca , FWIW,he will be recieving at least one letter today about this.
Who would’ve thought it possible that we’d have someone worse than 0bama?
Actually, Miguel, that isn’t possible, but Trudeau is still pretty bad.
“Who would’ve thought it possible that we’d have someone worse than 0bama?”
As long as there’s a Trudeau around, it’s always possible to have someone worse than Obama — though it is astonishing, isn’t it?
“Only in Canada, you say?”
I’ve wrote my letter to James Moore, james.moore@parl.gc.ca , I urge all to take a minute or two to do so also.
The championing of everything Justin is wrong, but we have become so used to it,that most let it pass with a shrug and an “oh well, its the CBC”.
This time they have stepped way over the line. Our tax dollars should not be spent on people who want to stifle any criticism of the pompous prince of Papineau. This is still Canada, not Cubanda yet,but if we continue to sit on our hands and do nothing,Kate may as well shut down this site and the rest of us can wonder why everyone is so unhappy, except for our leaders and their friends.
BTW, I wrote to Justin Sunday afternoon asking for his detailed travel expenses for fiscal 2011 along with the days he collected ‘per diem’. The same thing that he is calling for in his press show. He has not replied back.
Last week the parliamentary info office informed me that detailed expenses are not available to the general public.I then asked about info on how to go about an access to information request, and was referred back to the parliamentary page of expenses.
We are getting screwed over, “I’m mad as hell and won’t take it anymore”.
So the media wants to allegedly go after the protestors, how quaint the brown shirts are so loyal to Herr Justine.
Obamba’s media Thugs are doing a bang up job in the states so why not have the Socialists media Thugs do the same here. Might as well ruin two countries at the same time.
“…Canadians frequently confuse Justin Trudeau with Justin Bieber…would anyone know the difference?!….”
I think so. Turdo la Doo hath flathing eye-latheth but no talent.
We must end that socialist propaganda organization called the CBC.
And he’ll still be the next PM. Not that it matters.
Do you remember when John MacCallum showed up at a CPC candidate soap box stop to protest the guy? The media thought it was provocative at the time. Not so much this time, heh.
“The press now wants to hunt them down.”
Justin needs help compiling his Enemies List…
Just like Martin would receive a historical and crushing majority, that Dion would become PM, and Ignatieff would become PM.
Ho hum, yawn.
Because past performance is always a guarantor of future performance.
LAS: “Because past performance is always a guarantor of future performance.”
Absolutely! You are totally predictible!
Hey at least he has public press conferences.
When was the last one your Herr Harper/Nixon aka tongue-up-the-rectum-of-Mike-Duffy gave?
Leave your homoerotic thoughts out of a legitimate political discussion!
Did anyone send a memo to Trudeau’s handlers that he is a walking, talking disaster?
Just what does Mike Duffy have on Harper, that he can extort $90,000 from him?
I mean, most, Canadians don’t have $90,000 just hanging around, waiting to oblige a friend who’s fallen a bit ‘short’…
Why is the leader of our country ‘owned’ by Mike Duffy?
Aren’t you guys worried this looks bad for your financially conscientious ‘brand’ of conservatism?
How come Duffy gets a prostate massage from Harper?
joe, you’ve written nothing more than crap. No substance at all, which makes me wonder if you’re a reporter looking for a new headline. Or are you a 25-yr-old living in Mom’s basement?
If so, she needs to check the websites you frequent.
As a general proposition, I find Liberal questions about Conservative ethics to be without merit, based on the (modified) old adage about the seething cauldron calling my grandmother’s tea kettle “black”. And the more bloviating and red-faced the Liberal anger in demanding answers, or in demanding higher standards of behaviour, performance, quality of appointments, blah, blah, blah, the more laughable the questions and demands become.
But, even leaving aside the poor organizational optics of Mr. Trudeau, Jr.’s news conference, his proposals for “more accountability” seem to me to be pretty tactically superficial, even by Liberal standards. While Tony Clement was right to embrace them immediately (really, why not do them?), posting expenses “on-line” and in “spreadsheets” seems to me to be more about looking digitally “hip” than about increasing accountability. It seems to me rather doubtful that this particular part-time drama teacher, or any of those who seem impressed with him, would have much call for Microsoft Excel: what, exactly, would they do with the information if it were available to them in the format proposed? The information might actually be of more interest to, you know, numerate, analytical, feet-on-the-ground, economics-interested Conservative types.
Aside from which, I’m not sure how well digital “hipness” is really working for them, so far, at least. It was trumpeted far and wide, for example, that Mr. Trudeau, Jr. had “signed up” 165,000 “supporters” on the internet, which turned out (after a massive manual GOTV effort that forced a week’s delay in leadership voting registration) to be 80,000 or something. Just last weekend, we heard that “4,000” had committed on Facebook to turn up at Nathan Phillips Square to demand that Mr. Ford resign, which number (according to a crowd photograph published by Mr. Levant) turned out to be about 100 (how many of those were the normal passers-by on any given Saturday afternoon in downtown Toronto?). And we all know what internet polling and robo-polling has done to the credibility of the public opinion research industry. I think the digital age is wonderful and all that, but I’m not sure that it can be relied upon yet for quantitative analysis and prediction in the field of politics, particularly of the leftist variety, where it seems to have over-committed and under-delivered.
Which brings me to the protest behind Mr. Trudeau, Jr. It appears to me that a good number of the placards seemed to be lamenting his fondness for the unreformed Senate of Canada, which may be playing well in Quebec, but not so much elsewhere. Was Mr. Trudeau’s “announcement” of proposed digital accountability measures a rather poorly-contrived effort to deflect attention away from his Senate gaffe of last week? Methinks all of the above, but I might be wrong.
“…I find Liberal questions about Conservative ethics to be without merit, based on the (modified) old adage about the seething cauldron calling my grandmother’s tea kettle “black”…”
Aye, indeed. It’s a pity the Conservatives don’t have the imagination/guts to throw it back in his face. Which can only lead me to conclude one of two things:
(a) the Conservatives are so lacking in political skills that they deserve to lose the next election, or
(b) their silence on the ethics of Turdo la Doo’s parliamentary truancy while he was away collecting ‘speaking fees’ from publicly-funded institutions, can only mean that at least some of the CPC crowd have done the same thing.
“Just like Martin would receive a historical and crushing majority, that Dion would become PM, and Ignatieff would become PM.”
Women voters (low-information or not.. not sure it makes a lot of difference) did not SWOON over any of those losers. Martin was a doddering old man. Dion could barely speak English. Ignatieff was a boring academic. But Shiny Pony is pretty, and he can speak fairly well, much like the idiot president south of the border. The women will SWOON for him, and the votes will follow. I’ve seen it up close already. My own sister is one of them, for !#%()*& sakes. She’s otherwise quite intelligent, but she’s in full SWOON over Trudeau and has a near ferocious hatred of Harper. Women who are in full SWOON are utterly IMPENETRABLE to reason. Toss in the beginnings of a “time for a change” itch (Harper will have been PM for 9 years) and that could be the ball game.
Ironically the only thing that may save us is if Quebec doesn’t get over its hatred of his father and instead stays with the NDP or even goes back to the BQ. Quebec has a long memory so I’m hoping that’s the case. Otherwise Shiny Pony is probably our next PM :-(.
Hi DS,
Good post.
Particularly these two points:
1. “what exactly, would they do with the information if it were available to them in the format proposed? (MS Excel)”
2. “(they) seem to have over-committed and under-delivered”.
Perceptive

To heck with Justin.
What depressed me was learning there are regular yoga exercises held out in front of Parliament.
Do Canadians have any sense of pride and decorum about their national institutions at all?
