Since the civil war began two years ago, Assad’s complete dependence on Iran and Hezbollah – as well as on Russia – has been exposed for all to see. There is little doubt that whatever checks the US was able to exert against him before the civil war began no longer exist. And if he survives in power, he will be completely indifferent to US pressure and so will behave far more violently than he did before the war began.
And yet for all Assad’s horrific behavior and the reasonable presumption that his actions will only become more violent and dangerous with each additional day he remains in power, the most telling aspect of the Syrian civil war is that Israel, the US and Europe are incapable of deciding whether he is better or worse than the alternatives.
And much, much more. Read the whole thing.

assad’s “friends” are well out of range.
where’s the u.n.? in NYC, right….
it’s an internal war. to be settled internally. with outside help. on both sides.
the west is tide of fighting “wars” ovah dare. soon have own war. internal.
The whole thing is none of our business. Let them kill each other off and when/if there is a winner they can talk to us if they want to. We certainly have a lousy track record for picking winners.
From the article:
“This week, PJ Media reported that a State Department whistle blower is about to come forward to divulge new information about the September 11, 2012, al-Qaida attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other US personnel were murdered in the attack. The whistle blower will reportedly reveal that Stevens was sent to Benghazi in a secret State Department effort to buy back anti-aircraft Stinger missiles that al-Qaida received from the State Department during the 2011 US-led NATO campaign to overthrow the regime of longtime Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.”
Obama wanted Stevens dead. Put him before a congressional hearing on live TV.
There is no happy scenario in Syria. Assad is a butcher and his replacement could be worse than he. Even stabilising the situation is bad.
Just keep us out of the Syrian civil war and don’t let Obama get involved in any way. He is a child when it comes to international relations. The only positive thing is they are killing each other and not us.
I think this situation is likely to take on global proportions, and very quickly. Israel is already threatening to go head to head with Russia. I agree Canada should stay clear, but I doubt the US will do so. I predict this situation will explode — big time — before two weeks is out.
“…Assad’s complete dependence on Iran and Hezbollah – as well as on Russia – has been exposed for all to see.”
He, heeeeeee, heeeeee! That’s not all that’s been exposed.
“bama’s got a wee one,
‘bama’s got a wee one.
‘bama’s got a wee one…
I know….
How about we draw some more red lines?
Yeah, that’s the ticket. More red lines.
Stay the frig out of it. This is an Obama diversion to divert attention from his corrupt un-American junta. HE needs this war, not us. Stay home and reduild the economy, let the commies waste money on that sink hole.
The Syrian Civil War is a “Dream War”. The prime backers of international Jihad, Iran and Saudi Arabia, through their respective Shiite and Sunni proxies are killing one another. What could be less disconcerting other than the possibility that one side end ups an eventual winner. Russia is simply arming the side that Obama didn’t arm.
Stay the frik out of it. This is an Obama divrsionary thing to distract attention from his corrupt,scandal-ridden tyranny. The Israelis are egging him on. Let the commies waste their money on this pointless sink hole. The best thing America can do right now is stay home and fix the economy and get America back to work.
A staggering 100,000 Christians are killed annually because of their faith, according to the Vatican — and several human rights groups claim such anti-Christian violence is on the rise in countries like Pakistan, Nigeria and Egypt.
“Credible research has reached the shocking conclusion that an estimate of more than 100,000 Christians are violently killed because of some relation to their faith every year,” Vatican spokesman Monsieur Silvano Maria Tomassi said Tuesday in a radio address to the United Nations Human Rights Council.
“Other Christians and other believers are subjected to forced displacement, to the destruction of their places of worship, to rape and to the abduction of their leaders, as it recently happened in the case of Bishops Yohanna Ibrahim and Boulos Yaziji, in Aleppo [Syria],” Tomassi said.

Not any ‘winners’ in Syria at this time or in the foreseeable future.
It’s been a while since St Paul made his way to Damascus…
Psalm 147:20 “He has not dealt thus with any other nation; they do not know his ordinances.”
Meanwhile the call goes out for deliverable ordnance.

Hans, unfortunately most western societies could care less, including a few who post here. How does that story go about, first they came for _____, but I wasn’t one of those people; then they came for _____, but I was not one of those either; then they came for me, but there was no one left to help me.
Sadly our natural allies in this area, face the devils dilemma, under Assad’s peace they had lives and opportunity.
The Jihadists offer them death or slavery.
We are not helping anyone with our posing for the rebels, especially when they appear to be dominated by the haters of all other cultures and religions.
If we lack the guts to stand with our allies, we could at least offer sanitary to those those who can run.
The cowardice and confusion we pretend, only traps our friends and emboldens the psychos.
Once again the world prepares to facilitate mass murder, while wringing our hands and mouthing platitudes .
It breaks my heart to see any Coptic Christian being denied his own AK47 and rocket launcher.

Auto spell cheek, Sanctuary…
454guy, there are various Christian, Sufi’s Janes and miscellaneous “others” who practice live and let live.
It is not just Moslem versus moslem.
The Christian enclaves of Lebanon are still fighting, with bugger all to thank us, their gutless allies for.
Course for the Jihadists, announce a Koran burning in a suitable public square, set chain guns in crossfire, enjoy.

the kristians of the middle east are quite often NO different than their muslim counter parts. the 1972 high-jacking of an USA air-line in Beirut, and the shooting of a Jooish passenger was done by a kristian medical doctor. A friend on mine from Lebanon said she would never marry anyone from the middle east as they are pretty much all the same, whether kristian, shiite, sunni, or orthodox jew, she married a dutch jew
Hans & John;
When the fighting starts in Europe in earnest do we step in again? Where does responsibility begin. As I say this I understand that Canada has a poor history with immigration ass well. The Euros have abdicated their self defense and national self preservation by encouraging immigration to the level they have.
Syria is a fight between Shites and Sunnis, Iran vs the Sauds. The only involvement I would support is a guarantee to Israel. One could argue it is in Canada’s self interest to see ME oil production destroyed or minimalized. It was the Canadians who went in to Iraq and put the oil fires out in double time. A case could be made for Afganistan but certainy not for Libya. Canada should stay the H… out of the ME.
