Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
At least it was only a double barreled bull dog and not one of those high capacity assault bull dogs.
This wouldn’t have happened if he registered his dog!
Disturbing to watch. A few few years ago, while on our vacation property in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, a fawn, probably about 6-8 weeks old, burst out of the woods at high speed followed closely by my normally laid-back golden retriever. I ran after them for about a quarter of a mile, recovered my dog and checked around the area…pretty sure the deer escaped. I would have been sickened had it not. I have no objection whatever to legitimate hunting (except on my land, which is posted), but I like to think that baby animals are off limits.
When PR plans go bad…
My Golden retriever would likely be afraid of the fawn or want to wrestle it.
And if by chance my dog ever found itself wanting to dine out, time and time again his recall has been absolutely stellar.
Nothing like seeing a rabbit stroll through the yard at the lake and calling your dog back. You can just see the dog saying to me with his big brown eyes pleading “but Dad…. it’s a rabbit!”
Anyone who can’t control a dog of any breed is not worthy of the higher race.
Lets see if the holier than thou congresswoman vows to ban dogs now that this has hit close to home………
Now,if someone there had a legal carry permit, they could of shot the dog, and saved the seal.
Of course had been here in Canada, they would have then clubbed the seal!
Win-Win!
Dogs eat things. IMHO Mark Kelly is not to be pilloried because a dog got away on him. If Joe Shmoe’s dog did that would we care? Doubt it.
I think Mark Kelly should be pilloried because he’s a lying skunk who lets the DemocRats treat his brain injured wife like a f-ing sock puppet. Too bad the dog didn’t take a big frickin chunk out of him.
This was not “dogs being dogs”.
When you choose a dog with the potential to do the damage this breed is capable of, and then you choose to walk it on a public beach, you have a responsibility:
a) train it to obey commands and
b) ensure it’s wearing suitable equipment so that if a) should fail, you have control
The dog reportedly “got away” from his 18 year old daughter while being walked on a leash. That tells me that neither of those two conditions were in place, and thus, the incident was a product of his irresponsibility.
Guys like Mark Kelly are to “pit bulls” what irresponsible gun owners are to “assault weapons”.
He has no business owning this breed. None. The seal could have as easily been a 2 year old playing in the sand, and had it been who knows how many responsible dog owners would be fighting legislation to “ban” them tomorrow.
Mark Kelly can’t control his dog…yet he wants to control the actions of free, sentient and law-abiding people–using the sledge-hammer known as the legal system.
“Anyone who can’t control a dog of any breed is not worthy of the higher race.”
You’re probably right Jeff, although this was a one-off. He is normally extremely obedient and controllable and submissive, I suspect it was a case of the fact that he hadn’t ever encountered a deer before and was interested in finding out what it was. But quite obviously I couldn’t take the chance that he would harm the fawn.
But to suggest that I’m not worthy of the higher race is perhaps a bit harsh…
I should amend the above comment…my dog was accustomed to ADULT deer….they used to come down to the house virtually every morning to scoff our vegetables from the garden (which I didn’t mind…I liked having them around), what I meant to say was that he hadn’t encountered a fawn before. My dog got along well with the adult deer, one in particular he used to play tag with. I’m asssuming he was snuffling around in the woods on our property, came suddenly across the fawn laying low as they generally do, the fawn got startled and bolted, and Murphy did the same.
Sorry Bruce….. That did come across harsh.
What I meant to say was what favill said.
White trash, or as my kids would say WTWC, white trash with cash.
THAT’S Mark Kelly? Astronaut?
Around here, guys who look like him are either meth-heads, or parolees.Creepy phuck.
I don’t think pitbulls should be banned, but some of the owners well, should undergo a psych eval…… if you know what I mean.
Don’t confuse pitbulls with bulldogs.

I bow to your superior dog knowledge. My Retriever only ever ate two animals in his life, a gecko and a chipmunk. Gecko was in the kitchen and the chipmunk was in the back yard. Not much of a test sample.
I stand firm on the Mark Kelly being a dirtbag thing though. Brain injured women are not for use as campaign props, particularly if you’re married to them.
The nice thing about this purchase refusal is that little Marky gets put on the DHS watch list for all future activity…
Progessive activists are never wrong – the sea lion had the wrong political affiliations and so Kelly’s dog is guilty of nothing more than a justified attack on a “wrong-thinking” animal. Once the reeducation was complete the animal expired from an over dose of enlightenment.
As an aside, don’t get too worked up about a dog almost killing a deer. I can see 500 or more deer any day in a 10 mile drive. It’s like a dog almost killing a rat.
Cut the crap folks. That dog was out of control, poorly trained and disobedient. No, dogs don’t ‘just kill things’ if they are properly trained. They kill only if they are unstable or poorly trained – and this a-hole’s dog could go off on YOUR dog, or your kid or your cat.
Real adult responsibility there, Mark. You gonna turn in that poxy mutt to the police for the good of society, I hope…?
Yeah well, I agree with the onlooker….drown the dog…or at least till he let go.
Yeah we do have a weakness for young critters…
Odds are the seal could cope with immersion better than the dog…
Yep these things happen, I woulda have expected Mark or one of them wimyn to have got bit bigtime…
I recall Dad sayin’ a bucket of water is the safest way to bust up a dog fight…I prefer a cattle prod…
As far as the AR15….that “strawbuyer” gambit works jus fine….inspired actually….
Hey Bruce, ever had veal?
Mark Kelly should be charged with attempting a straw buy, are they not illegal?
