  1. Oh, that is all nice and good.
But not clean enough for the clean one.
Obama Seeks $2 Billion in Research on Cleaner Fuels
    (snip)

“In the State of the Union, he asked what can we do to make America a magnet for the jobs of future,” the official said in a telephone briefing on Thursday afternoon. “One key answer is to ensure that the United States is and remains at the cutting edge of breakthrough technologies that will get our economy off oil.”
Mr. Obama came to office with grand ambitions of remaking the nation’s energy economy and tackling climate change. His stimulus package included $90 billion for clean-energy research, but most of that money is gone and Congress is unlikely to finance such work at anything like those levels in the future.

Money is gone? What else is new.

  2. Yeah well, back in 2008 or so, he boasted he would backrupt coal plants….
Don’t expect OBOZO to approve keystone…..
Unions want Keystone and the enviros don’t…
The unions are OBOZO’s reserve of funds and thugs…the enviros are occupy….them’s with the gold make the rules…..
OBOZO will alienate the unions, already a panicky critical mass…spooked by the growing number of right to work states.
With few exceptions the enviros are a not relevant political force….impoverished OWS types have zero influence….the Gores and Manns are now discredited…except for that LIV which unfortunately constitutes about half of the electorate….how large is that union?
I suspect that the donkeys have misread the people much like they missread the prospect of anti-2nd ammendment support…

  3. I’m cheering for a NO from the Zero.
Will hurt Canada briefly, might benefit longterm.
Our Federal Government could grow a set and cite national Interest to tell the well financed eco-terrorists, internal & external to take a hike.
Both east and west pipelines will buffer us from the coming slump in the States.
Worst case imagine Pelosi with control of our oil exports.
And for the opponents of Team Zero, a cancellation will fuel the fire.

  4. Agree that Obama will not approve Keystone: because of fracking technology, the US will become a net exporter of energy, not an importer. The need for oil from Venuzuala, the Middle East, off-shore drilling – and from Canada – will plumet.
This is already happening and under the MSM radar. This may be deliberate downplaying (i.e. directed by the Democracts), or it may be simply group-think and bias on the part of the MSM; either way, it’s a bonus for Obama. Most “environmental” organizations are only making perfunctory protests against fracking except for the truly radical environmental activists (i.e. the ones who still aren’t political). Result: more jobs, more energy security, mostly happy unions and happy a George Soros and other financial backers of the Democrats.
Blocking Keystone will have little impact to US energy imports in the short term – rail transport of Canadian oil is booming (hello, George!) – and can cover the slack until fracking really kicks in. That’s where the real jobs come in to play to lift the US economy – all unreported.
In the meantime, it will be easy to gain the support of enviro-Luddites by singing “Blame Canada” for oil imports, keep the Hollywood sub-intelligentsia onside, and thoroughly widen and enrich the Green pork-barrel by investing billions into “sustainable” sinecures for Democratic supporters. Any complaints from the US middle class about rising energy prices (when supply dictates that they should be falling), will be silenced with government and MSM marketing campaigns for the innumerate which will demonstrate all the amazing benefits that “Green energy” could supply (but only when pigs grow wings). So suck it up, bend over and enjoy, because it’s “for the planet!”
The most that Obama can do is to merely delay the time when the US becomes energy independent – while skimming profits for his supports and remaining politically far removed the actual increase in US energy production and industry.
All the benefits, none of the blame. Blocking Keystone is a political win-win-win for Obama.

  5. Alberta needs to let it be known far and wide in Canada. That when the negotiations for Equalization begin in 2014, that they will withdraw all funding into the scam. And before the scholars start correcting me, be sure to go and read the act in the Constitution. Yes it says their will be Marxist Redistribution in Canada, but it does not say how much that is always negotiated. No funds for Quebec or Atlantic Canada, they hate Alberta oil anyway, so they won’t mind foregoing the funds. Alberta should state this fact now and loudly and publicly at every opportunity.

  6. PS: Harper should also very publicly quit playing nice with the Chimp IN Chief. He should tell all US networks, that do to no XL Pipeline deal. The F35 is hereby cancelled along with all US Military hardware purchases. Quit playing nice.

  7. Anyone know whether a pipeline that passes environmental muster but gets torpedoed for political purposes would have a case under the Free Trade Act? It would be a crime if Uncle Sam had to write a cheque for billions. If they deny Keystone, they had better not approve any American pipelines.

  8. No American who heats a home in winter, or who pays a household electric bill or who must drive to work is complaining about Canadian oil coming on line. It always amazes me that politicians listen to the shrill wails of the radial left (to whom the responsibilities of a home and family are unknown) rather than the majority who benefit from abundant low cost energy.
As for citoyen Mulcaire running down this nations interests to foreigners , there are few words outside of “treasonous cretin”. This little jaunt to defame Canada’s major wealth engine amounts to actively working against this nation’s welfare, it won’t go over well with Canadians and I think the Dips will be running a leadership review after he looses a lot of votes to the liberals in the next election.

  9. The chicoms, Japanese, Koreans and other countries would be quite happy to buy Canada’s oil sands exports. Better yet, this would go at the world price for oil. The primary impediment to this is BC moonbats supported by foreign terrorists.
As a resident of the interior of BC, I consider myself to have almost nothing in common with the coastal moonbats. As far as I’m concerned, if an earthquake hits Vancouver and it slides into the ocean, the only way this would affect me would be is that I’d be a few miles closer to the ocean. What we need is a separatist movement for the interior of BC which would demand that we leave the moonbats behind on the coast and join up with Alberta. Once the province of greater Alberta also contains the majority of the province of BC (aside from Vancouver island and the moonbat capital of the country), then there will be no impediment for a pipeline to be build to the Pacific ocean.
I’d be quite happy if PMSH allowed the residents of the interior of BC to decide the future of the land they live on. The vast majority of coastal moonbats never come out here but view the interior of BC as one large wilderness area which needs to be preserved forever in unaltered form. Those of us who live here have other ideas of what should be done with the land. Foreign terrorist organizations are calling the shots in both Victoria and Vancouver and a good first step would make their interference illegal.
Expect the desire to separate from the coastal lunatics to become much stronger if the commies form the next government of BC.
