I wonder how many of these claimants are actually missing limbs or require “life sustaining therapy” (ie require more than beer to stay alive)?

If it was just the cost of the benefits, that would be bad enough. But there are armies of equally useless suits and briefcases depending upon this useless group.

Work is really becoming a game for suckers.
Lack of political leadership, excessive public sector salary and benefits compared to the private sector, abused expense accounts , lack of accountability, inability to reduce staff as required and reluctance to fire bad public employees means that if you don’t work in the public sector you probably should not work !!!
Factor in the governments meddling into the so called free market with their bailouts and incentives for friends and favourites , you may as well just call it quits !!
As the Captain says “enjoy the decline”.

Unemployment insurance from the US government is only available for 99 weeks but disability is open-ended. Since approx 20% of the workforce is unemployed or underemployed disability is a lifeline that more and more desperate people are grasping. Of course there are some cheaters, anytime any government offers free anything there will be abuse and fraud.

This is a false statement; which I suspect is exactly the message that Obama(or any other socialist)hopes will gain traction with the peasants they control. It is a false statement because in fact: ‘welfare is for suckers’. Why? Because it ‘suckers’ the Individual into bargaining away his Self-Respect for Dependence. The consequence for individuals that bargain away their self-respect is a) a loss of respect in the eyes of others; and b) the loss of the drive required for an individual to achieve to their potential.
For me, this is a price too high.
Perhaps, we should be arguing THIS as a way to combat the socialist meme.
Personally speaking, my Prime Directive is: to provide and set a good example for my daughters and wife. Everything else is second. EVERYTHING! Because of this, not working is not an option, no matter how much a ‘sucker’ people and politicians think I am.JMO

If Stephen Hawking can work almost anyone can. The work may not be fully self-sustaining, but everyone is capable of making some contribution to others in society. Wether they chose to or not is another matter.

I have a neighbor,in social housing, married, native,recently finished school. Social work.Really nice change, after the last neanderthals who lived there, were evicted.
Anyway they’re a nice couple, with two very young kids.
For Christmas I felt like giving them some cash to treat the kids.
$100 bucks.
Just before getting around to making the presentation, I noticed she was online, makeing noise about Idle No More. Turns out she was a very active, plays the race card, is a victim,calling the Prime Minister a bastard, etc.
Well I kept my money, and don’t discuss politics with her.
That was close.

Cash for life, ‘disability’ is like winning the lottery, it’s the new American Dream – get so fat that the government buys you a scooter so that you can pick up more food.

As I have previously stated, 49 Million on Food Stamps, 9 Million on Disability, 6 Million Free Cellphones, Section 8 Housing, Transportation Allotments, Daycare Vouchers, Supplemental Paychecks, Welfare for Fatherless Kids, Utility Vouchers, and that’s just the sheeple, then you have the Corporate Welfare, Corn Subsidies, Oil Subsidies, Natural Gas Subsidies, Solar Subsidies, Beef Subsidies, Wheat, Barley and Bean Subsidies, Milk Subsidies, Hog Subsidies, Chicken Subsidies, Defense Subsidies and then you get into the Technical Subsidies like Twitter, Facebook, Google and Youtube. Not to mention; we have whole cities on the Dole now, Detroit comes to mind, and then you have San Francisco one of our major Sanctuary Cities where Illegals gather with impunity. Throw in the fact that Blacks, Mexicans, Muslims, Asians, Jews, Atheists, Gays, Lesbians and that lil group from Ethiopia all bloc-vote Democrat, and furthermore; throw in 15 Million Stupid White Liberals then get at least 50% to showup, vote 4 – 6 times if they have too and Bada Bing Bada Boom you got yourself an election.
Hell, Romney never had a #$%%$$# chance.
