  1. Global warming has been occurring for at least 14,000 years — no arguing that.
Man has had no real impact on the environment except maybe the last 50 years.
14,000 years ago Toronto was under 1 km of ice — so why has global warming been a bad thing? (please hold back comments about Toronto LoL 😉 )
It is ludicrous to blame all this warming due to man.
Time to rub some brain cells.
    gerry from gta

  2. I’m sure that by now with all the open evidence proving environmental radicalism to be wrong on so many counts, that things like the Sierra Club are really cults for contrarians.

  3. That’s your carbon footprint for the entire year, Howie et al. Now you have to walk everywhere until 2014.
Or be a hypocrite. Your choice.

  4. So, as I understand it, they`re hoping for 20,000, out of a country with 310 million or so residents.
So let`s say `over 130` means 131 (whereas in, er, factually verifiable terms, it might mean 110, or something), and let`s say each bus will carry 60 people (generous load factor of 75% — they won`t all be full; on the other hand, we could go with the Ray Nagin bus load factor of, um, zero):
    131 * 60 = 7,860.
So, I`m guessing they`re going to come up a bit small this time around…

  5. Sure, organize a rally – stir up a willing press.
Yet another sign of the eco-parasites desparation that their gravy train is facing a derailment.
Things don’t look good. The odd signs of skepticism are even starting to appear in lefty rags, and with nothing but an echo left in most government treasuries (and personal bank accounts), the likelihood of new sources of income looks pretty grim.

  6. Gerry.
14,000 years of Global Warming has kept Holden Beach NC from having Polar Bears, Killer Whales, and Seals.
But the thoughts of idiot Obama being chased across Hawaiian Beaches by a mad, hungry, Polar Bear does make me smile.

  7. Also Coke has a Ad / donation deal with WWF re: Polar Bears
Someone forgot to inform Coke that Canada has a huge Polar Bear population
I refuse to buy Coke because of this patronizing Ad campaign

  8. When it comes to sucking in donations and/or tax dollars, Sierra Club is a relatively minor player.
You can come up with some interesting stuff by checking out our “charities” on Rev Can’s public site:
    http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/chrts-gvng/lstngs/menu-eng.html
What confuses things is the similarity of names, and the fact that they constantly resurface under different umbrella organizations. For example, Sierra Defense, is not the same as Sierra Club.
The chief tax-dollar sucker has to be Ducks Unlimited Canada – which presents itself as a ‘hunting’ organization, but has much more in common with organizations such as Ontario Nature and Ecojustice than many of it’s supporters would be comfortable with.
DUC alone sucked about $23 million out of various government coffers in 2011.
The amount$ in the “Total revenue received from all sources outside Canada” line in the detailed financial statements of these “charities” is often huge, and troubling. Makes you wonder where all this cash is really coming from…and why.

  9. “14,000 years ago Toronto was under 1 km of ice…”
Ya know, maybe the Greens are on to something with the whole destruction caused by global warming thing.

  10. “That’s your carbon footprint for the entire year, Howie et al. Now you have to walk everywhere until 2014. Or be a hypocrite. Your choice.”
Not nearly as bad has having tens of thousands flying into Copenhagen, who are then driven around in SUV’s, and then must fly home early to beat a once-in-a-decade blizzard….
But yeah, really doesn’t make sense, does it?

  11. The Sierra Club of Canada is a poor cousin to its US counterpart and an integral part of the institutional left, along with numerous other US foundation money-laundering organizations. They are inside academia, government, (white collar) labour, mainstream churches, and have effectively intimidated many corporate wimps into eco-dhimmitude. Their goals are fascist domination through eco-theocratic rule and their means are hysteria-pimping. They love statist power and coercion over their fellow citizens and are true enemies of liberty, science and reason.

  12. So far today (Sunday) only the CBC is giving the Washington anti-Keystone demonstration any online coverage, and that as its top story for the past six hours: not the G&M, not the Washington Post, not the Star (!) etc. Now why would that be, I wonder?
It’s apparent to me (and I am not a conspiracist in any sense) that the CBC has declared war on (a) Harper; and (b) Alberta. The flood of negative stories in recent weeks has been atrocious and unrelenting. Anything that can be supn in any way has been seized on with shrill squeals of delight by the tax-payer funded “State Broadcaster”. Time for us little people to act: The CBC’s budget is approximately 1/200th of Federal spending. If when we do our taxes this year we all deduct 1/200 of the amount owing perhaps the message might get through.

  13. Weather today in DC was windy, mostly cloudy, and 35F. That may be warm to Canadians, but down here in the mid-Atlantic that is a cold day (not frigid, just cold). And with the wind, I’m sure it was mighty uncomfortable out in front of the White House.

  14. Patrick, the CBC declared war on Harper and the CPC long before it formed its first government.
On a more general note, lamentably, Border Services is going to let all this green sludge back into the country after their National Mall picnic this weekend.
