  2. At its core, we see here an argument between relativism and objective standards; those who contend everything is relative and those who contend there are immutable rights and laws.

  4. You see the ‘controller do gooder type’ has posited the question whether the 2nd Amendment is ‘relevant today’?
    The correct response is do you accept the entirety of the Bill of Rights?
    The veteran adroitly pointed out, who would be screaming the loudest, should one posit whether the 1st Amendment was still ‘relevant’?
    The presenter for the ‘gun grabbers’ is cherry picking the rights they will observe. Sorry kiddo but that ain’t the way the Bill of Rights works you either accept them in their entirety or you don’t. If you are rights cherry picker you have to consider yourself ‘outside the Constitution’ who would do violence to the Bill of Rights. In short, tyranny never takes a holiday and in any society there is an ever present danger by would be usurpers.

Everyone who enlists into military service swears not to uphold the government, nor to defend the people, but to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” The people have a right to defend themselves and the military has a responsibility to maintain and defend the Constitution. Other than an a Constitutional amendment there is no way to bring about the “control” the government would have over the citizens right and ability to defend themselves. I don’t see it happening but although the military take orders from the President they are not bound to follow those orders if they break the conduct code of the military or violate the Constitution they have sworn to defend. There is no logical or ideological argument to be had here because it is not a matter of “relevance” but of natural right. People who would not lift a finger even against the most obvious tyranny should not be making decisions for those who will choose to fight and defend.

  8. These leftists don’t know, or choose not to know, what ‘unalienable’ means. Unalienable rights cannot be surrendered, sold or transferred. Government doesn’t give them and government can’t take them away.
    The Bill of Rights only recognizes that fact. It didn’t give those rights, they already existed. Man just had to have stones enough to take them.

  9. When cowards show up to meetings they almost always bring the law and lawyers with them, (who happen to agree with their point of view) and hide behind its skirt. They are blinded to the truth of the “spirit” of the law and use the circular Hegelian Dialectic to try and run circles around those who are “uneducated” to their higher levels of thinking. Or so they think.
    Self-generated and -imposed morality is always the root of these kind of people. They don’t speak truth, they make their own truth up as they go along, and demeaning and “shushing” those who disagree or stand in the way of their advancement of their superior intellect and ideas.
    They should look at the videos and see how utterly ridiculous their arguments are and don’t even hear that what they have spoken to be true, as being so false. Then they backpedal and say they never meant to say what they actually said, that what they actually meant was something else, which turns into long-winded buffoonery.
    The push-back will be very interesting. Better get ready!!

  22. The American Constitution is under attack. The lefties, we’ll use that term for sake of argument, have been trying to make the Constitution irrelevant. Amongst the black community it is “white man’s” piece of paper. As for the second amendment, the left will use “mental stability” argument to nullify it. First from preventing people to purchase (need a doctor’s note for example), and secondly to label all owners as unstable and requiring “health checks” to ensure an owners capacity to own a fire arm. Name association with Nazi’s will become more prevalent. With Obama in his second term he has a blank check to do anything he, or his minions, want. Obama may of been a constitutional lawyer or what, but that was to learn how to undermine it. The next four years do not bode well.
    Interesting tho, notice how Harper hasn’t had a meeting with Obama (other than G7 type summits), since Obama’s first visit? I think Harper got him pegged for who he is.

  26. I, as an NRA member, support the “Don’t give an Inch” to the Obama Lizards and I would argue that buying a 30 round Mag is my absolute right to protect my family against the possibility of a group attack. A 12-gauge automatic for home protection
    The issue (law) should be that 30 round Mag’s couldn’t be legally carried outside the home without a special permit & a valid reason.
    The communists will not stop at your home door! They want all guns. The second amendment RIGHT must protect citizens from liability lawsuits.

    Bravo to the young vet in this video who took the time to educate himself and to speak up for Liberty. The 2nd amendment is a God given right, the Constitution protects God given rights because the founders put ‘one nation, under God’ in the Declaration; as an assumption.
    There are other rights that the Constitution protects, such as the God given right to life.

What matters, ultimately, is which side the army takes—and when push comes to shove the enlisted men won’t fire on their own for Barack Hussein Obama. The generals will, for the most part, do the right thing when it becomes clear that their choices are a firing squad assembled by Obama and one assembled by American patriots.
    After the footage of Obama and his Jezebel getting a taste of Targoviste justice makes it onto Youtube, not another shot will be fired. His followers will run like rabbits and the next anybody hears from the snivelling little cowards will be when they’re dragged out from under their mammies’ beds, whinging about their alleged rights.

I think this fellow who questions the modern relevance of the 2nd amendment (a shop-worn thoroughly debunked talking point of the 80s Sarah Brady cult) was so out of the realms of reality (ignoring all the wars and rebellions against tyranny and genocides against unarmed populations throughout the modern world), that he actually believes the crap he espouses in the face of enormous self evident fact to the contrary. He is really so morbidly delusional believe there is no advantage to having the ability to resist government tyranny?

Obama is laying out the plan which may humble the United States a bit (or a lot), but the people have a strong spirit and deep roots.   37. Actually, if the 2nd Amendment is literal and inalienable, one also has to note that citizens have right to bear arms within a ‘well-regulated militia’.
    That’s the preface often left out by the pro-gun zealots. If one accepts the Amendment as an ‘eternal truth’, this preface must be taken into account as well, not skirted over as so many of you like to do.
    In that context, the 2nd Amendment doesn’t give everyone at anytime to bear any kind of arms they like at all – if we were to be honest with ourselves.
    It’s disingenuous – to say the least – to pretend otherwise.

    Now you can pussyfoot around and quote whoever you like.
    But if you guys want to treat the Constitution as sacred, that’s what it says.
    It really is time to man up and start taking your rights as a citizen seriously.

    Since you have trouble with definitions, look up the definition of a militia at the time of the writing.
    Also look up the definition of ‘people’, bearing in mind these are ‘individual’ rights.
    If your definition were correct, the right to bear arms belongs to the government, not the people. Totally nonsensical.

    The Federalist Papers, and correspondence by the drafters of the Bill Of Rights are unambiguous about the meaning.

  43. “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State” is a preamble to the statement of right, and not a condition. A condition is preceded by words eg: “except that”, which clearly declare it is a condition.
    A militia is the people armed and ready to respond, such as in Switzerland.

  44. As other commenters have already noted, the SCOTUS has ruled that the 2nd Amendment is an individual right. The “well ordered militia” referred to in the 2nd Amendment consists of all able bodied members of the population.
    As a member of the NRA I fully support their position to not give an inch on this issue. I’ve donated money to their political action fund before and will do so again as the US is currently the only country with a constitutional right to keep and bear arms. My individual donations to the cause can’t match those of the arch-totalitarian Soros, but there are tens of millions of people that feel like I do and only one of him. If the US goes down, then the UN dictatorship will take over the world. A slave is disarmed and a freeman is armed. I have no desire to become a slave.
    A line in the sand has been drawn and if Obozo and his family want to go out like Mussolini, that’s fine with me. I for one, will never give up my guns and never registered them under the totalitarian police state regime that was present in Canada before PMSH. While my view may be a minority in Canada (although curiously almost 100% of gun owners I know somehow “forgot” about most of the guns they owned when the gun registry was in existence) there are many red states where my view on gun rights is the norm. If Obozo wants a fight, he’ll get one. He definitely can’t count on the military and there are far too many TSA, BATF and “homeland security” goons and a cull is desperately needed.
