Video Lecture: Solar vs. Anthropogenic–Better Understanding of 20th Century Climate Change

Nice summation of the many variables effecting climate, done in a dry manner and moderately difficult to follow, therefore not a chance warmists will get any of it…*sigh*
Most people already have a firm opinion of AGW, 37 minutes of lecture isn’t going to change anyone’s mind. I couldn’t be bothered.
As an earth scientist I knew AGW was a scam funded by the polluters long before AlGore made it popular.
Thanks for this Kate…….Len
Some of us have been saying exactly what Shaviv is saying for a very long time. But politicians, none of whom would know a muon from a music-box, are still babbling inanely about carbon taxes.
Google this guy – Nir Shaviv
He tells his students NOT to go into climate science because the game is totally rigged. If a student finds something that is scientifically robust but is in opposition to prevailing global warming hysteria, the student can’t publish as no scientific journal will allow that. If the student can’t publish, the student can’t advance academically so it is game over”.
Thanks for finding this video. Very enlightening.
Even though much of this lecture was hard to follow considering the level of discourse, I thoroughly enjoyed it and thankfully he usually had an understandable summaries for each little segment along the way.
I like Nir Shaviv.
Unlike most critics of AGW, he allows for the effects of CO2. AND he has his own theory.
His theory is a biggie, as this article title indicates —
Veizer, J. and Shaviv, N. (2003). “Celestial driver of Phanerozoic climate?”. GSA Today July 2003: 4-10.
Shaviv is one of the Cosmoclimatology boys.
He outlines this in an old post on his blog [the video & comments is the latest entry] —
Here’s more from Shaviv — even more colourful —
north_of_60, since you are a geologist, this should interest you —
// The starting point of [Shaviv and Veizer, 2003] is a reconstruction of cosmic ray fluxes over the past 1,000 m.y. based on 50 iron meteorites and a simple model estimating cosmic ray flux (CRF) induced by the Earth’s passage through Galactic spiral arms //
&
// The long-term changes in isotope ratios have been interpreted as a ~140 Myr quasi-periodicty in global climate (Veizer et al. 2000) and some authors (Shaviv and Veizer 2003) have interpreted this periodicity as being driven by the solar system’s motions about the galaxy.[…]
The more traditional view is that long-term changes in global climate are controlled by geologic forces, and in particular, changes in the configuration of continents as a result of plate tectonics. //
Plate tectonics — another hoax?

As much as the small boy in all of us would like it to be all down to COSMIC RAYS, I don’t think that the theory is getting much traction.
This conference is interesting though — the name EIKE – European Institute for Climate and Energy is impressive. Until you look more closely at the article titles [& the sidebar, which features Jo Nova & Donna Laframboise].
They all have videos, including Donna & the wonderfully wacky Axel Morner. In fact, it’s a feast — see Motl, Singer, Monckton …..
Shaviv is slumming.
