Wind turbine company Nextera & MNR destroy Bald Eagle Nest & Habitat in Haldimand Cty, ON
45 Replies to “We Don’t Need No Stinking Giant Fans”
Was Ocean’s and fisheries consulted on this?
Where were the protestors? No one chained to the tree?
Suzuki? Lizzie May? Natives? You know, those protectors of the environment?
Have we stooped so low that eagles are now in the same group as the pre born?
Sarcasm aside, the hypocracy of this really ticks me off.
What goes around comes around – If it’s in the Haldemand tract, I can see this new “landmark” being occupied and “claimed” by six nations who will claim it is on their land and erected without their permission. Too cold for occupying and land claiming right now, but come spring – look for smoke shacks under the big wind mill, you can’t miss it – no-name smokes half price, you can do your bit to support Mohawk sovereignty and get all the smokes your lungs can carry tax free.
BTW: I hope that eagle follows the MNR supervisor home and takes a huge dump on his black SUV.

What bluetech said.
Now, if this was Koch Industries we all know what would happen.
Occam said: “…If it’s in the Haldemand tract, I can see this new “landmark” being occupied and “claimed” by six nations…”
Nope. Never happen. You know why? Liberal government. If there’s an election and the PCs win it, THEN it gets claimed by Mohawk Warrior/Smuggling Society. As well, that windmill farm is not a good location for a gambling casino.
Now, I can’t -prove- there’s an under the table deal between certain parties whom I shall not name, but if I simply assume it history to this point makes a lot more sense.
Occam, you’re simply not being cynical enough. You have to ratchet up your game another order of magnitude to catch these creeps. Just pretend the whole province is being run as a private piggy bank for connected Liberals. That will get you in the ball park.
By the way, if you want to see a farce you need to check out the “construction” site at the Cayuga Highway 3 bridge over the Grand River. The bridge is literally falling down, rebar showing through all over the place, and construction was held up ALL SUMMER because there were “freshwater mussels” on the support foundations in the water. Which are supposed to be super duper or something. Fisheries said so. But they did build a really nice new wooden dock, which if they’re astoundingly lucky won’t get torn away and ground into toothpicks by the spring flood.
Just FYI, my cousin’s horse pond has freshwater mussels in it. Its about 40×40 and maybe 4-5 feet deep.
Im surprised a nesting eagle was disturbed in this way, I guess it is for a green cause so that is meant to make it allright., Here in BC they would have been fined for going within 20 metres of a nest, occupied or not.
at this moment the cottonwoods along the Squamish river have about 2000 eagles hanging out, they watch you as you walk along the opposite bank and the effect is somewhat creepy. the numbers though impressive are way down this year. pointless habitat destruction like this is a likely culprit.
Credit to these women for not falling for the “ya but, Stephen Harper!” trick the guy tried to pull.
Happy New Year All, one thing about working for a University they do shutdown 2.5 weeks for Christmas break, unfortunately, I live way out in the country and supporting Hughes Net at $100 bucks a month is not an option.
WTH is a company from Flori-duh doing in Western Canada ? Would have thought that 10W-40 Penzoil would have turned to syrup.
Well, at least if it is on a migratory route as they say on the video, First Nations should be able to get some free food without having to over-exert themselves by hunting. Would you like a little goose soup with that fish broth, “Chief” Spence?
The evil green anti-environmentalists of WWF and Greenpeace who advocate for industrial wind farms are supporting wildlife habitat destruction.
They are truly eco-terrorists.
Ratt, it’s not western Canada. This is in the Haldemand tract in Ontario. This is McGuinty’s Green Energy Act in action.
It’s Stephen Harper’s fault for a provincial matter? Talk about a low information voter.
I’m sure the eagles will rebuild their nest nearby before the first eggs are ready to be lain in the spring. The continuing ecological problem will be the giant bird killer that will claim the eagles and eaglets. The continuing financial problem will the Ontario taxpayer subsidizing the hydro produced by paying >8 times what the electricity is worth.
I’m curious as to why construction/destruction workers, Toronto police and Islamist protestors think that they cannot be recorded when they are in public.
Ratt, Haldimand is in southwestern Ontario between the north shore of Lake Erie and the western end of Lake Ontario.
They kept moving around, but I seem to see 11, 12, 13 guys getting paid to take down a cottonwood tree. No wonder green energy costs so much.
First of all, to the do right ladies taking this video; yeah feeding a family and keeping a job is more important to the dude in the mask, even if his political awareness is at the level of ok(or now).
Second, did they actually expect the eagles to return after the “house” moving exercise or did the weenies sitting behind the warm corporate desk think it was a great idea?
And lastly, wind power might be viable here in Ontario not because the wind blows but rather the politics suck big time. Unfortunately, the mindset of a majority of voters is that of entitlement and big government knowing what is best.
A cop car, 3 cranes, 10 pickups, a trailer, and 12 guys to cut down a f###’n tree in the middle of nowhere.
Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.
Crap! I had a lengthy comment composed, and the goddam captcha wouldn’t let me post it. And I KNOW I had it copied right. Three times!
Look, Kate, Lance, captchas SUCK! You had an ad stating that very fact here on the site within the last year. And now you are using the damn things? Waaay to go!
Calling David Suzuki, environmental crime in Ontario.
gordinkneehill, have you tried commenting with aTypepad account, it’s about a 5 minute process to get one and I’m not doubting you and others have had problems with Captcha, I’ve had zero problems since Kate / Lance added Typepad / Google accounts. Some sites it’s impossible to comment with WordPress.com accounts.
It was quite unusual to hear from the video crew who was to actually blame for the installation of these wind turbines, opposed to the “worker guy” @ 1.55 trying to blame Harper, as he’s in power you know.
I’ve met this head on with so many people, having no idea who’s jurisdiction it was for anything in this country, and as “cgh” often here in the comments can attest to, sometimes I don’t know either!
It was on a Sat. no MNR in sight. The decision for this was made in Dec. and was posted on the MNR site the previous Fri evening at 5 pm. The nest had to come down before Jan 6 to allow for the eagles to find alternative sites. But remember, the were nesting there to begin with for a reason.
Can’t make a green energy omelet without breaking some bald eagle eggs. The econazis tend to line up easily with the left because they ultimately like the perverse sacrifice of someone or something innocent for the cause that purports to benefit those who are run over by it.
gordinkneehill, I don’t like having commentary monitored by Google and others either, Pamela Geller’s site is a Typepad hosted site, and if they’re willing to host her, I’m good with that and perhaps that’s why I’ve come to not mind it so much. It does keep a trail of my comments, sometimes I look back at it and wonder just what I was thinking. It can be reset I believe, so as to not keep my comments readable, although I haven’t yet done that.
Your link, I didn’t know there are “captcha farms”. well, perhaps nothing is safe.
Fred:
David Suzuki is too busy trying to figure out what’s worse… destroying an eagle’s nest or preventing “green” energy… he can’t function with decisions like that.
Anyone wondering how McGuinty got elected to three terms in Ontario needs only refer to this film where the Nexterra guy says the wind farm project is a Harper policy.
Ye gods…
Wait til they find out that those eagles were the sacred spirits of various First Nations.
gordinkneehill, I don’t really know what the problem is. But you really must think we would be a better people if we only knew what you thought. Unfortunately your “lengthy” post didn’t show up so we will just have to carry on as the simpletons we are.
In the future perhaps you could send a private email to Kate to explain your situation. That way we won’t know that we were depraved of such intellectual advancement.
I am an engineer and I have to tell you I absolutely *hate* wind farms. Not only are they a blight on the landscape, they are an enormous waste of money.
What the lefties filming this video don’t realize is that there is currently easy money to made in the green movement, and you can thank people like McGuinty for that.
I love it when the left eats its own.
I am aghast. I wonder what would happen in the green-o-sphere if video ever surfaced of Encana or Shell (or any other “big oil” target really) quietly rezoning an occupied eagle’s nest. I think in this case the hypocrisy has to trump the irony.
Don said: “David Suzuki is too busy trying to figure out what’s worse… destroying an eagle’s nest or preventing “green” energy… he can’t function with decisions like that.”
Exactly right! This has a direct parallel to the abortion movement and their “dilemma” in what to do about those who use abortions to select the sex of the child.
As for the Captcha’s, I have always felt they should be replaced with a random question from an IQ test.
a ready supply of eagle festhers for the “Canadian Idle ” show.
Not sure they were ‘lefties’ filming. They dissed Mcguinty. The seemed to be well informed.
Those were beautiful eagles. I would take their side over the windmills too.
And was it so cold the ‘brave’ guy dissing PM Harper had to cover his face?
For every green objective meet. There is an opposite & tenfold disaster caused by said action. How they do this against most physical laws is still a mystery. My money is on these scams making money for the short term while causing long term destruction. While wearing the cloak of self righteous piety. Visonaries that are blind to anything but grand projects that sound good but are the echo of the unrealistic.
If all the trucks hadn’t run them over we would be able to hear the crickets cheeping along with all those environmentalists – not on hand – while they were cutting the tree down.
Needless to say Mr. Suzuki and Ms. May weren’t anywhere to be seen because there are obviously too many bald eagles in Canada. Plus, bald eagles aren’t sexy. If they were full-bodied hairy eagles with cuddly fur and big baleful black eyes even Pam Anderson would have been on hand to chain herself to her limo in protest.
Green energy is just part of the “climate change” scam that came about because leftist/socialist politicians and their enviro-whacko minions (or vice versa) needed to find a new way to take more taxes from working Canadians. After all they couldn’t raise taxes on liquor (their wine would cost more) or cigarettes (lead to more black market cigs) or the GST because that would be a political nightmare.
Anyone know how many hectares the farm is? They couldn’t move the lane way or the turbine if they had the room to?
And if they could is B gravel, some heavy equipment time, extra hydro cable and trenching, too much expense to save one bald eagle nest, or are they more afraid of someone catching on film, an eagle getting shredded by the turbine.
If that’s the case they are acting just like a big evil oil company, just like you see in the movies.
One clue to how much of a complete joke wind energy always was. Is that an MNR office on a Friday issues a permit at five PM to remove an eagles nest at that? Really a government office at five pm on a Friday actually helping a company out… bravo how’s that for service?
What dedication on the MNR’s part….. of which I haven’t seen since they where cutting up my uncles tripod with a torch one early spring Sunday afternoon, when he was dipping for pickerel in the Ausable River thirty six years ago.
I hate captchas too, and I’ve turned it off – for now. But if I start getting deluged with spam, I’ll have to turn it back on (or install a similar service). Sorry for the inconvenience it causes, but a tremendous amount of time around here gets taken up with spam control, and releasing trapped comments. It really is best for me if you can register with some account or another and be done with it.
A little off-topic,but it is about eagles, and as a bonus ,the person defending the slaughter is in the news a lot these days.
” The use of bald eagles by natives should be the subject of negotiation – not prosecution, said national chief Shawn Atleo at a Thursday press conference to condemn an undercover investigation into the slaughter of bald eagles. ”
Natives and environmentalists, both are ‘one with mother Earth’ and should never be questioned. http://m.theglobeandmail.com/news/british-columbia/cultures-clash-over-birds-of-prey/article1617270/?service=mobile
Thanks for posting this particular piece of work, Kate.
Quite apart from it being just about the most disturbingly disgusting and disgraceful thing I have ever seen, it should nevertheless serve, for every sentient Ontarian, as a portent of things to come if the left (meaning Andrea Horwath; the Liberals have absolutely zero chance) is elected in a general election, which is sure to come this spring.
I found it ironic (but not in the least bit humourous) that the red-neck face-covered guy blamed Stephen Harper, but the women who filmed the video chose, vociferously, to correct the record and put the blame squarely where it belonged — on Dalton McGuinty. Apparently, intelligent women, whatever their political persuasion, seem to know more about our particular brand of federalism than the men do.
While we’re at it, can I say something about Ontario and my country, from a thinking man’s perspective? As a general proposition, I like a tight underwear (both of them stay indoors). I feel at the moment that one of ’em is hanging out badly, due to loose underwear, and I think it’s time for new underwear.
Look at porkahontas Spence her whole body is hanging out of her underwear. and its all your fault.it is white priviledge again ! send money now.
I was looking at some of your posts on this internet site and I believe this website is rattling informative ! Retain putting up.
Welcome here. There is a great bunch of commenters representing a broad cross section of occupations, educational disciplines and experiences on this site. There is even the odd liberal and socialist troll.
The witless refrain of a unionized employee working on a provincial government contract:

I grew up with too many guys like this – couldn’t tell you what their tax money was doing, only what their shop steward told them to vote for.

marc, I object to the “need” of having an account with a third party in order to post on any site. Why let the leftist bastards get you in their databases? That’s why sites with comments “powered by disqus” are dead to me.
I have no experience with Typepad, but Google is evil, run by Leftists, and nobody in the rightosphere should use it all if it can be avoided.
I found a link that is germane to this discussion: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/with-old-guard-captcha-solutions-rendered-ineffective-by-captcha-farms-captcha20-is-now-available-from-siteblackbox-118010504.html
There ARE other Turing tests out there that are not as obnoxious as captcha.
