Francophone shouldn’t be blamed for moving place as long as it stay inside their cultural space boundary.
The general narrative / talking point I get from those who support endlessly high taxes for “rich” people is this: “They have so much money that it doesn’t matter if they’re taxed a lot more.”
Perhaps that fits in well with the French mindset of liberté, égalité, fraternité – but it clearly doesn’t sit well with ALL French people.

This evening I had dinner with a group of friends. One of the people there was a 48 year old Irishman with a wife & 4 kids. After a year of being unemployed (in heavy equipment operation) he knew he had to do something to support his family properly. So he flew over to Canada, looked several places for work and found steady employment just outside of Regina. He now has a very good job there and will next be working on getting his family over here too. One particular thing he said really hit a chord with me:
“You know, I could have stayed in Ireland, and found odd jobs here and there. Maybe, just maybe in 10 years things will be better. But I couldn’t wait that long and waste all those years waiting for things to change.”
Such is the case with Depardieu and France. Those who support Socialist Math are not smart enough to realize that their simplistic calculations are not static because real, live human beings will alter their behaviour when tax regimes become oppressive. For the rich, there is the option to leave. For others, under the table transactions become commonplace. It will happen and it should happen.
