  1. Society in North America has done a pretty good job of destroying the family without the help of the Russians.
The Church used to be a mainstay of family life when I grew up but now is used for ‘marrying and burying’ only. No attendance and no baptizing. Society has shifted their focus to government simply because they are taught to expect help and generally get it in some form.
I think the Depression and WW II had more of an impact on this developing mindset than is given credit.

  2. ct, I would suspect that the moles the Soviets planted here in the middle of the last century have also played a big part in the destruction of the family and individualism. We see it in our universities and media every day.

  3. Let’s not get too smug the “war on individualism” isn’t just confind to Russia, we have a vast “progerssivist” (AKA soft marxism) cartel in all major parties and entrenched in administratie institutions who are overt statists. Every device they have implemented has eroded individual sovereignty, rights and liberty for the “collective” – multicult (group rights), Human rights (collective rigts versus individual), Social justice (group equity not individual justice)
Statism is the antithesis of individualism and we have it in spades here.

  4. Actually Ken the moles arrived in the 20-30’s….
I recall growing up in the 50’s in a nest of Big L libranos(fence post liberals) who couldn’t name any politician other than the PM and maybe the local MP….were totally ignorant of government policy…I recall their biggest insult was….”You think yer better than everybody else?”
The mindset had already been planted…..
