George Will: Colleges have free speech on the run.
From Kim Zigfeld, founder of both La Russophobe and Dying Russia:
“Russia’s Vladimir Putin has declared war on the Internet, and not just within his country’s own borders. Putin’s war may be coming soon to a laptop or smart phone near you.
For years we’ve been told by Putin’s apologists that his moves against traditional media didn’t matter because it was impossible to strangle Russia’s feisty Internet. But for a KGB dictator, “impossible” is a meaningless term. Putin’s campaign consists of a three-part pincer movement, and now that he has essentially been made “president for life” he is pursuing it with greatly renewed vigor.
In part one, Putin rammed two key pieces of legislation through the Russian parliament, called the “Duma” or “thinking place.” The first allows the Kremlin to shut down websites it doesn’t like, and the other allows it to arrest bloggers who go too far on charges of treason. The next phase of this legislative initiative is to strip away the critical protection of anonymity from the Runet, so that Internet scribes who offend the Kremlin can be easily identified and dealt with. The chilling effect alone will radically alter the content of the Runet.”

RE: Cheetah.
Great shots. How many of you have ever visited Al Oeming`s Alberta game farm? He used to travel to high schools all over Alberta and Sask. with his pet Cheetah?
It was all fun for the kids!
Full torque–they hit 65.
My dad used to take my brother and me to the game farm. We loved it – Al Oeming was great.
More on the internet. Putin is not alone in trying for control.

I’m going to go out on a limb here peterj, and say that those mystery trains had something to do with Obama’s green jobs programs. Sounds very Obama-like. “Create jobs” by shipping bio-fuel back and forth accross the border without unloading it. Testing out one of Krugman’s brilliant plans no doubt.

“Solar industry urged to push back against nuclear ‘attack’”
“That has prompted one large solar developer, SkyPower Global, to shift its focus out of Ontario to international markets.
Solar is “at a precarious point here in Ontario,” SkyPower CEO Kerry Adler told the conference. “We are exiting Ontario. We are selling our pipeline. We are focusing our energies in more stable markets around the world.” Ontario was a “great learning ground….[but] we have no intention of investing any further in Ontario until the political situation is clarified,” he said.”

With only 55 Democrats in the new Senate, Republicans can block the passage of left-wing legislation under the existing filibuster rules. So the left has committed itself to changing the rules. … the left intends to break the rules in order to change them. …

Voegelin via maz2: “Gnosticism is the will to live in a dream world and the reluctance to allow reality to intrude upon the dream.”
It’s called magical thinking and the idiots who think this way get mad as hell when you intrude on their fantasy world: “How dare you suggest a reality other than the one I want to — and will — believe?”
It’s a given that these folks will shirk both responsibility and accountability because reality just doesn’t exist in their world.
