  3. All that I’ve heard from Garneau so far is vacuous Liberal boiler plate. Nothing in the way of compelling ideas.
    It might be enough to regain ground loss to the dippers, but not enough (I trust) to win the highest office.
    Still, he’s miles above the coiffed curls of le dauphin.

  8. Interesting that the Conservative press, or one sector of it, is mobilizing against Trudeau. Don’t get me wrong, I think he’s a lightweight too: but I think those polls may be making people nervous.

  16. Marc Garneau’s failure to understand that he is in the wrong party is a great disservice to himself, Quebec, and his country.
    Why continue to believe that there’s a future in any of this — he won’t beat Trudeau, so why be a sacrificial lamb? Why not cross the floor and help to build up a party that, er, actually has a future?

    If you look at the comments posted at the SUN Newsnetwork site where his graphic originated you won’t be surprised to see the usual leave Justin alone posts, ignoring all the facts on the graphic are true….

  20. Unfortunately, given the voting rules of the Liberal party for electing a leader, I don’t see how any contender has a possibility. Unquestionably, there are several people with far superior qualifications. Howeer the cockamamy voting rules where you don’t need to be a Lib. party member means your facebook popularity, will win!

  24. OK I was thinking of starting Conservatives for Justin. He is so lightweight that the CPC should be able to kick his ass….but after the US vote…people like voting for a “shiny pony”
    This leads me to believe made it should be Garneau because I got to think a country governed by him would be better than Justin on all counts. If even just the respect factor of the man.

  25. Garneau may be a smarty-pants, but he’s still a dumb-dumb progressive…somebody earlier said “vacuous liberal boiler plate”…that’s about right.. And Paul in Calgary is correct. We need to stop puffing this guy up. A credentialed guy like Garneau is more dangerous. They’re the type who thinks they know better how to run your life.

  26. The Liberals have left themselves wide open to abuse with their leadership voting process. So let’s abuse them. We can all become Liberals for a day and vote for the lamest of the bunch. Hopefully that person will become leader and the Tories will score another majority.

    Nop Greg, those Obama Voters ain’t stupid. They were bought and paid for. 47 Million on Welfare, Disability and Food Stamps, free phones, student loan forgiveness, free housing, free abortions, and now their already free medical is gona be paid for by the rest of us. Throw in another 10 Million Absentee Ballots, add a few Million White Liberals, legalize 12 Million Mexicans and ‘bada bing bada boom’ you won yourself an election.
    And damn if Obama is not asking for sole authority to raise the debt-ceiling, another $800 billion in stimulus, another $40 billion in ‘green projects’, raise estate taxes, drop our deductions in half for the kids, eliminate the deduction for mortgage interest and raise our federal taxes all because he says the American People gave him a mandate. The sob won by 3% and he calls that a mandate ?
    Nop, they ain’t stupid, they want their free stuff and if it destroys the country and the Republicans along with it that’s just fine too.
    What scares the hell out of me is trying to survive another 4 years of Barry and then 8 more years of Michelle.

  28. As good as Mr Garneau sounds…he’s been at the public trough since his days as an officer cadet at RMC. He has no clue about the private sector and how hard it is to make a real buck. He has no clue what actually makes an economy tick. All this man knows is every two weeks a bunch of money shows up in his bank account. Conservatives (people not party) start sharpening your knives.

    It’s not the person, it’s the machine behind the person that gets him/her elected. Trudeau’s got the ol’ Lib warhorses and the media — Garneau does not stand a chance.

    I’m sure Marc Garneau is the candidate with the brain power, although I haven’t heard anything from him I actually agree with. Too bad he can’t take a long walk in a snowstorm and return with a small government attitude. A small government didn’t pay for his career, so I’m not holding my breath.
    Have the last round of Libranos that fought for their leadership paid their debts yet?

    Actually since the day he was born, Garneau’s Dad was a Brigadier-General in the Canadian Forces.
    I read an interesting article on hereditary bi-polar disorder the other day, it stated that if one parent was bi-polar,the odds of a child being bi-polar was 15-30 percent.
    One of these two candidates’ Mother was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder,and has written a book about her travails.I leave it to SDA’ers to figure out which candidate I’ve referred to.
    Some day, if we’re really unlucky, we may have a narcissist President in charge of the U.S., and a bi-polar PM in charge of this Country.
    It would be fun to watch,from another planet.

  36. The problem with these two candidates, both have spent too much time in a vacuum.
    Garneau in space; Trudeau in the elitist class. Neither are able to connect with the average Canadian. Garneau is another egg-head like Ignatieff; and Trudeau is the empty suit poseur like Obama.

  37. Well, if I were a Liberal (may God forbid!) I would be strongly in favour of Deborah Coyne. She was a noted opponent of the Meech Lake Accord, has considerable accomplishments in constitutional law, and comes from a capable family. Her uncle James notably stood up to the Diefenbugger in regard to the governance of the Bank of Canada.
    Marc Garneau is a distinguished Canadian but Deborah Coyne’s achievements and capabilities are better for PM.
    So what is that other guy doing running for Liberal leader?

    Did we not hear Garneau describe Canada as INTOLERANT and make a claim that he is going to “change the way politics is done” in Canada.
    That’s a superb CV of course, but doesn’t in fact add up to a qualification to run the country.
    Channeling Freddie Hayek, while only the worst get on top, Garneau may be the best of the worst.

    Canada needs Justin to ensure four more years of the Conservatives with PM Harper,if he runs again.
