Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella

Bravo Kate! You can obviously recognize a Greek tragedy, New Jersey style.
If folks do actually want to spend their vacation dollars to see than pile of scrap then they had better get there soon. Salt water has a way with metal as most folks near an ocean coast can attest to.
I found this link on the target page:
http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/11/21/15336577-local-tv-stations-anchors-quit-on-air-after-evening-news-broadcast
The anchors claim they quit over station management interfering in news direction, but here’s an interesting paragraph buried way down in the piece:
“Mike Palmer, the station’s vice president and general manager […] denied claims that upper management was involved in daily news production.
[…] Following a broadcast segment about the showing of Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth,” Palmer wrote to his staff that they should refrain from reporting on global warming until Bar Harbor is underwater.
He explained: “a) we do local news, b) the issue evolved from hard science into hard politics and c) despite what you may have heard from the mainstream media, this science is far from conclusive.”
According to the Times’ report, Palmer likened global to “global warming stories in the same category as ‘the killer African bee scare’ from the 1970s or, more recently, the Y2K scare when everyone’s computer was going to self-destruct.”
This is sooo Bush’s fault. Its racist too.
From Benghazi to Long Island, the Obama regime, for the next four years, is still attempting to find itself.
It took 100s of years for the full collapse of the Roman Empire.
The USA will be much faster. Much, much faster.
After a roller coaster ride into the surf you get:
Fed to the lions!
Your kingdom for bread and circuses folks.
Or maybe it’s a new fundraising method called “Erode-a-thon”….

Slap the statue of Liberty into the sand next to it and we can re-shoot the original planet of the apes.
Ironic that a 3rd world solution is taken to the wreaked roller-coaster….just leave it where it is to rot/rust.
But in the 3rd world there exist entrepreneurial souls who engage in midnight recycling….frequently in broad daylight….
I suspect that the owners will be forced to:
(a) post security to prevent “folks” getting injured from falls or the eventual collapse.
(b) remove it…..the cost of (a) and complaints about it …. being an eyesore….pollution????
You have a magnificent eye for irony Kate. Must be the artist in you (along with the wry wit). Sadly, between the EPA and all the building inspectors, a lot of palms are going to have to get greased to let that thing stay there. And rot.
rust-A-rolly
Kate, you make me laugh, you make me cry.
Maybe if they have a huge civil war a North/ South DMZ may create a wide enough barrier from Mexico to Canada.
Otherwise we’re in big trouble!
Here and I thought the two anchors who quit were heros.
They’re actually tempermental spoiled dorks!
Can’t buy the import of the pictures. One was destroyed by an act of God, the other by an act of stupidity.
On second thought, maybe that’s what they are supposed to represent….?
Good God, where are the environMENTALists, if that was left in the water it could affect the snipped nosed snipperin, or the 2 dorsaled lesbo fish, or worst of all the half black teleprompter fish, oh the humanity. Wear it well fat man, you deep sixed a lot of good Americans a week before the vote, makes a good ocean-stone to complete stupidity, union and political.
Tourist attraction??? I supect that the biggest attraction at that beach in the future will be for any unfortunate swimmers who brush against the twisted rusted metal and require a shot.
But then again, visiting New Jersey usually requires a shot of some type.
Just hook a tugboat to it and drag it into deep water. If that’s the best they can do for tourist attraction they really will have a problem.
The blackfriday madness is a perfect example of what’s so wrong in America today. Too many people who are total jerks just to save money on things they don’t need with money they don’t have.
Just hook a tugboat to it and drag it into deep water.
Not with scrap metal prices what they are.
that’s the best juxtaposition I have ever seen, most people wouldn’t have a clue what your point was, Bravo Kate
@ north_of_60
The price of new and scrap steel has tanked. 7 to 10 cents a lb.
http://rockawayrecycling.com/scrap-metal-pictures/materials-we-take/
As a matter of fact that makes a good story and is a strong indicator that the world economy is grinding to a crawl. When china can’t even sell its top quality steel , never mind their junk, it’s a strong signal that things are really slowing down.

It’s Bush’s fault for causing climate change, both photos.
A Roman engineer would, however, know all about corrosion. With small amounts of exposed iron, as on tie bars, their solution was to apply a lot of lead to any place the water could reach.
That would become a very heavy roller coaster!
There just aren’t enough face palms for this sort of thing. Who would want to see rusted rollercoaster tracks?
When you take a close look at the Colosseum and other Roman ruins you can see holes everywhere along the stone block joints where the metal tie bars were extracted by post empire metal scavengers.
Monuments to bread and circuses.
NJ voted for Ø, let him fix it.

How Progs get action:
“It’s threatening the habitat of the endangered Staten Island Sand Guppy!
Somebody call the EPA, stat!”
Just another relic to the fans of”If there where no people left”. They dream of a World of n0o humanity. Anyway good catch.
from the point of perspective of a frequent vistior to that area, since hector was a pup..
that ride was built on a pier, out over the ocean..
and as far as wrecks are concerned ,a freighter was marooned on the beach, for years
no one touched it as it disintegrated
and most of sandy’s damage was on another ocean mounted pier
all due to private enterprize..
Chinese will buy the scrap iron as fast as they bought the Twin Tower scrap iron from them, won’t they?
I’ve also heard that Obamba has transcended to a sign, just like music icon “formally known as Prince”.
He is now known as “ “the first Black Affirmative Action president “formerly known as Empty Chair”.
In a year or two the upper picture will be shown throughout the leftstream media as evidence of rising ocean levels.
the sameness of the shapes of the ruins is uncanny
Probably one of them old wooden ones, and union made.
