O, Sweet Saint Of San Andreas

Hear my prayer.

It’s not just millionaires and billionaires who are fleeing the economic madness in California. Even cows are starting to depart for greener pastures. That’s right, 400 bovine refugees shuffled off to Kansas just this month, with more expected to follow as over 100 dairy farms in California close their doors.

  1. Wow Obambam is superman. Having fixed the oceans etc he is now undoing the dirty thirties by sending all those prairie folks back home from Kleptofornia.

  2. Too bad electoral votes aren’t re-calculated every two years or so.
More red state-ness developing as we watch.

  3. Ah yes, the dairy industry. Canada is no different than the USA. In B.C. we produce about half the white milk consumed. High profit processed milk such as cheese and yogurts is dominated by Quebec.
In Quebec the average herd is 60 milk cows whereas in B.C. you have to milk almost 200 cows to make money.
Easterners wondered why western farmers wanted out from under the Canadian Wheat Board? BS aside, guess why?

  4. There is the saying that “it may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others”. California is the State equivalent. It will eventually flush itself into the Pacific even without “the big one”.

  5. Saskatchewan is another province with a large dairy industry and almost no value added processes like cheese manufacturing.
Our marketing boards make milk production very profitable, but have somehow given milk product production to Quebec.

  6. Our marketing boards make milk production very profitable…

Let me finish that sentence for you.
…at the expense of the consumer.

  7. shaken @ 9:46 — Awesome.
Dear Quebec, just secede already and stop “milking” the rest of Canada.
California: run by Dems. Detroit: run by Dems for decades. Find a failed, broke State or a failed, broke city and (surprise!)find a Dem stronghold. Find a failed, broke country in 2016 and (no surprise) find a Dem stranglehold on power.
“CALIFORNIA: What happens when Dems get everything they want. “The California Republican Party is functionally dead. And how is California doing, now that liberals have successfully terminated the state’s remaining conservatives?” #1 in debt, #1 in welfare, #1 in taxing the rich. And hoping for a federal bailout, I suspect. As is Illinois, which is in similar straits for similar reasons. “One-third of all the nation’s welfare recipients live in the state, despite the fact that California has only one-eighth of the country’s population. That’s four times as many as the next-highest welfare population, which is New York [another Dem state].” Instapundit, http://pjmedia.com/instapundit/157990/

  8. Now, now, Kookyfornia is improving somewhat. There’s actually a move to ban public nudity in San Francisco — or at least get nudists to put a towel down where they sit.
If I ever go to SF, remind me not to sit on any park benches…

  9. As I have stated before, this is exactly what rich liberal Californians want. This is why it is happening, despite the absurdity of it. Rich liberals want to turn California into one giant liberal suburb of the United States.
Depressingly, most of the wealthy in Silicon Valley are die-hard liberals. All of Hollywood save perhaps 2 to 3 actors are die-hard liberals. They want to run everyone else out of town.
This is the way California is going – a giant suburb of wealthy leftists, who make their money elsewhere.

  10. I’m sure California ecologists will be pleased, as dairy farms despoil the environment with their methane and manure and what not.
But rabbit (you ask), what will Californians eat? Well they can become aerotarians, dispensing with the need for filthy, polluting farms altogether.

  11. Two points on this:
The American Dairy System is so regulated and otherwise government controlled/subsidized that it makes Canadian marketing boards look like amateurs in comparison.
The simple fact that these government teat milkers are smart enough to head to greener pastures tells me that the State of California is stupider than I once thought.

  12. Thus proving once and for all that the politicians and voters of California don’t have the sense that God gave a cow.

  13. 95% of Kansas is in severe drought or worse. The last time there was a drought this severe, they went from Kansas to Cali, not the other way. That says something.

  14. Best thing for the poor cows. After all, it’s cruel and unusual punishment to keep them penned up in the land of steers.

  15. Canadian friend said: “Quebec wants Walmart to change its name because it is not in french.”
    Le Walmart. There you go.
Next headline you see from Taxifornia will be people in Cupertino whining about the price of milk. I wish them bon appetite as they bite into the sh1t sandwich they just made.

As I scrolled down the comments those very thoughts were forming here.
Good it serves the dummys right.
The cap and trade legislation going into effect today is just more grease to speed the descent.
