  1. And the mayor of San Bernardino is a Democrat. Ha ha! Welcome the new world of Obama economics.
You make your bed, and then you have to lie in it.

  2. San Berdoo is right on the fault line. If Kate’s prayer gets answered, it will suddenly be prime ocean front property, people will flood in, property taxes will rise, and everything will be hunky-dory.
You guys need to learn to take the long view.

  3. I cannot feel sorry for the US, especially California. I just cannot. The warning signs were there and were heeded by few.
Welcome to the train wreck that was the US.

  4. Soooooooo? You have a fascist mayor in a fascist town in a fascist state who support a Muzzie-in-chief for President, and the brown shirts are richly rewarded,at the expense of their brain dead neighbours and their city which is bankrupt(both monetarilly, and more important, morally) And some people are surprised? Well…LAS and QNDPS,maybe.

  5. California Roulette . . . so many more cities still to learn that in the end, economic reality trumps political and union greed, corruption and stupidity.
And they, in their turn, will learn the lessons of economic reality and the when their faux pensions collapse, well tough tiddies, kiddies.

  6. The “blue model”, otherwise known as -looting-.
Not to worry. They’ll fix it by laying off maintenance guys, cops and firemen. Same as Detroit.
Then we can all get an old Ford, slap a blower in it, paint it black and go play Mad Max all over SoCal. Come on, it’ll be fun!

  7. Even the Greeks have not figured it out yet. They still think there is a money tree out there somewhere.
Even after there are hundreds of San Bernadinos across North America and rioting in the streets they still won’t get it. It is the nature of the leftist mind.

  8. Ken, I flew back from Houston 2 weeks ago, behind me was an American from San Antonio and a city of Calgary civic planner. The conversation was mostly carried by the planner who had retired 4 years ago at 52 but got bored so he got his job back and really was enjoying it, like he did before, because in his words, I do nothing, hand in some reports now and then and surf the internet most of the time, he said to the American he would like to keep the job 2 or 3 more years, but is was really hard to give up a job where you virtually did nothing but had medical dental and a pension that was great. This is where the unions of Canada will take us also, is the San Bernardino/Greek route, won’t it be fun having food to sell to the droves of unionistas that will be unable to feed themselves let alone brush their own teeth without free a dental hygienist paid out of all our taxes.

  9. Good news. California deficit will be only $1.9 billion.
    California Faces $1.9B Deficit

The LAO said there is cause for rejoicing because it had predicted one year ago that the figure would be an astronomic $13 billion and in 2010 it had reckoned the deficit to wind up being $25 billion.

  10. Public sector unions have left their scorched earth legacy in Calif, and now they have turned Ontario into a rust belt debt ridden jurisdiction. Public sector unionism iss a result of the collectivist idea that government is a make work project and a life long career/ From that point forward the public trough became an “entitlement” to this parasite class.

  11. I wonder how long it will be before the firemen will be threatening to burn peoples houses down unless the homeowners pay into their pension fund? Seems that most of the crooks are on the government payroll now.
The pension amounts mentioned in the Reuters article are obscene. The retirement age should be raised to at least 75 now and then increased by a year every 2 years till it gets to 85. People are living longer and it seems that people who retire and do nothing are far more likely to develop Alzheimers than those who keep on working. Thus, the retirement age increase could be sold as a public health measure.
