  1. The Pre-Post Mortem:

… So we must redouble our efforts.
If Obama wins tonight, as seems likely, he has no mandate. He ran on a platform of “Mitt Romney is teh sux.” I’m not sure how that translates into a governing platform, and neither is anyone else. If Romney pulls this out, he’ll have a hostile Senate for at least the first half of his term.
Either way, we’re looking at deadlock.
It’s our job, yours and mine, to pick that lock. Do not tire, do not flag, do not quit. …
… If Obama wins, we will need to fight him at every turn.
I’m not quitting. Don’t you quit now, either.

  2. You know, I think their country is screwed no matter who had won (and they’ll take us down with them). But what’s really disappointing is how we’ll now have to watch 4 more years of Jughead’s nose-in-the-air speeches, and listen to his grating voice and arrogant mannerisms.
Obama, Layton, Redford… do I dislike socialists simply because they’re socialists, or are they honestly all irritating, arrogant pricks?

  3. and to top it all off with a cherry on top, Jesse Jackson Jr. got himself re-elected while residing at Mayo Clinic and not even campaigning! hahahahaha, the world truly has gone mad!

  4. What ever happens in the next four years – Obama will OWN it. That – he will never avoid. Let history record it.
In the end he will be a “failed” President.

  5. Well, Black Mamba, I’m sure there were Romans who thought the same way about their civilisation. They probably asked themselves as they saw their once-great civilisation burn and crumble:” Where did we go wrong? Oh yeah. We let an emperor marry his horse.”
But, as H. Ryan so astutely pointed out, Obama inherited his own mess. Even if he does get impeached- and he will make sure that never happens- America is still done. If people had to really think who to vote for this time around and actually re-elect someone like Obama, the nation is finished.
Sorry, Americans. We are watching your ruin minute by minute.

  6. Well there you have it. Romney tried so hard to move to the centre. The lesson is taught again – when will some conservatives get it that you do not become a better conservative by acting more liberal? The GOP better do some soul searching and get it’s act together…..if there even be a next time.

  7. I think Obama will win the popular vote too after all…
    go Obama.. down with Harper.
Shame on Canada for having this idiot Harper as PM while USA has such a great guy like Obama

  8. It would have been almost impossible for Romney and Ryan to turn this beast around
    ~james
You said it. It would have been a struggle. Now that there is no struggle, America will hit that fiscal brick wall at 100 miles per hour with Canada strapped to it’s jock stap. We’ll be like bugs hitting a windshield, the last thing to go through our mind will be our ass.

  9. The final nail in the coffin wasn’t that Obama won, the final nail was the fact that it was even close at all. Had Romney managed to win, that was still going to be the case.
I think the Republican Party will rapidly cease to exist after this. It has finally, once and for all, confirmed that it is incapable of mounting a counterargument to the Left. All those many years that Republican wins amounted to nothing more than treading water for a few years here and there; they never actually pushed back against the leftward drift. Now we see the final consequences of that.
Secession is not going to happen. But a gradual balkanization certainly will. In fact, you could say it has already been happening for a while now. The balkanization will continue until people realize there have been de facto secessions.
I am so filled with pain and sadness. I thought the prospect of an Obama reelection would fill me with anger, but it’s really more a sense of loss and mourning. People have casually tossed aside something unique, that came with a heavy price, for what amounts to a few token trinkets, tossed in their food bowl like a bone to a dog.

  10. Man I am soooo frickin glad I decided to sell my little oil service company 3 mths ago. Now I can shrug. I’ll never put a dime of my own capital into running a business again. I’m done.

  11. Well, Canada may end up benefitting. With the onslaught of tax increases (Obozocare, corp. tax increases), US business will be looking to spend their cash reserves somewhere with a more stable, conservative climate.
Watch the US layoffs come next year, when businesses offload their fulltimers for part-timers, to avoid the Obamanation health taxes. It’s going to get ugly folks.

  12. Dan there is no cash reserves that’s bs. The US goes down so do we. Stash your paper money in gold and hang on tight. It’s going to be a very wild ride. Even the chicoms know this is bad.

  13. Osumashi @11:54 – made the horse a senator. I wonder if Incitatus was 1/64th fake Cherokee.
Not for the first time in my life, I wish I was Jewish. I’d immigrate to Israel. There’d at least be an immediacy to things that way.
Let’s be honest, we’re America’s conjoined twin, and we’re not the stronger one.
Since we’re being poetic, and I’m feeling maudlin:
    “…one whose hand,
Like the base Judean, threw a pearl away
    Richer than all his tribe…”

Hey, Beria, you can go DIAF too.

  14. Just curious, since the OHIO vote is only 75% in and Romney is still in the lead how is it that Obama has won Ohio?
    Anybody?

  15. I guess Obama’s harper like strategy of painting his opponent early appears to have born fruit.

  16. Black Mamba, James, we do have a slight chance. At the very least, our leader is not a total jackhole and has some financial sense.
Iberia, you’re right. There is NOTHING Obama can do. Enjoy the useless African dictator before a coup of angry, machete-wielding thugs take him out. That’s how things usually go in Third World nations, which the US is now.

  17. I guess we should all be thankful that we have a PM in Canada who is smart enough to be aggressively seeking out other trading partners. The USA may not be very friendly toward Canadian imports, especially our BC lumber.
Damned good day for the “alternative power” people, like the Conservative here who has the electric car recharging contract for several thousand stations in the U.S.

  18. Just turned on the results, oh well not a big surprise considering the American electorate today.
The US is finished regardless of who won tonight, it’s probably best for Romney to be out of the way when the crowds eventually gather at the gates.
The US will have it’s cleansing when it all comes apart and the Liberal left will cease to openly exist when it does.
Let Obamba speed up the decline and let him and his ilk answer for it, the sooner the better.

  19. I was a little optimistic on my prediction of electoral college votes,Going by the same stupidity that drove a UN socialist human rights totalitarian into office in Alberta with a corrupt government that has gone back to every odious practice, than some.
This is the era of the Mooch with no education . Who actually believe the media. This is also an Age of real Racism where peoples skin color actually determine peoples votes , not real positions. The greedy undercoats will vote for who promises the most “freebies”.
    Obama 272
Romney 266 but the outcome was the same sadly.
Ive learned if your going to make a prediction, go by the ages Zeitgeist. Or the spirit of the age.
    303 Obama
    203 so far for Romeny

  20. Re Ohio: this will take days….same with Florida.
But at this point, the lights are going out all over the USA…..regardless….the takers are outnumbering the makers……..

  21. Oz, why would God bless America this day? He gave them 4 years to the electors to discern. He gave the electors there a fixer – a man that has taken a host of floundering companys and made them ‘good’. He has given them hope and they have chosen to reject it. Why would God bless them? I fear that God has said if you are comfortable in this mess, here is awhole bunch more! ENJOY!

  22. Well, my 303 for Obama/Biden prediction is looking pretty prescient for the moment, but I suspect that the final Florida numbers will cost me the pool win.
I guess I was just a little too sceptical and overlooked how our neighbors would react to that whole ending two wars, killing Osama bin Laden, saving the American auto industry, deflecting a second Great Depression and initating universal access to healthcare, hopey changey thingy.
I guess I should have just stuck with Nate Silver’s prediction. It looks like he went 50 for 50 this time. (He also went with the Ebola virus over pundits last night on Colbert, so I really wouldn’t want to be a US pundit now. Hey, maybe the Ebola virus explains the whole Rove meltdown on Fox?)

  23. America’s enemies are rubbing their hands. Nuclear Iran, Israel is toast, runaway inflation, green power.
Worst is four more years of Mooshels fat arse on page one…..

  24. Demographics….I worry about the demographics for upcoming elections….here in Canada too.
    yikes

  25. I just hope that the Dr. Jekyll of 2008-12 doesn’t turn into Mr. Hyde in 2012-16.
I’m disappointed that the idiot Warren won in Massachusetts, but the state does have a long track record of being on the liberal side so it isn’t a complete surprise. A couple of the other Republican Senate candidates who inserted foot into mouth probably deserved to lose.
There is no real reason to think that Canada under Stephen Harper will be dragged down by an American collapse. An economy consists of all the acts of production, trade and consumption among individual citizens. If Canada doesn’t screw ours up, it can continue to run fairly smoothly. The problem will be supplies from the U. S. A bigger problem would be if Kim Justin-il manages to dupe Canadians.
The good news is this: Reality always avenges itself. Capitalism and the free market are the only principles on which to found a successful human society. The so-called 47% are not beyond redemption, they are human, and they too would like to be productive and feel good about themselves – which they can’t do on state handouts. One big problem is that the left-wing-run education system hasn’t taught them properly. That’s why education should be separated from the state.
comment: “America tipped over. Atlas will shrug. And there will be no Rohan around anymore to save Gondor (Europe). It’s been great, this thing called Western civilization. We’ve had a good run.”
Ayn Rand’s philosophical writings contain everything one needs to understand what’s gone wrong – namely the collapse of philosophy into mysticism that got rolling with Immanuel Kant. I for one have been broadcasting this for years here.
