  1. And there remain so many who have been brought into the AGW fold and kept there by the alarmist and/or warm fuzzy MSM stories – depending on the slant. AGW truly has become a religion, helping line the pockets of the Gores, Suzukis and Strongs of this world.

  2. Distracted and felt pen jumped the lines. Happens all the time in Kindergarden too. Hard to erase, so just leave it. Rational explanation as any. Would not be questioned by ICCP as that’s where they expected the line to go and easy to adjust new figure on computer. Easy.

    They in fact made the whole thing up…
    It wasn’t like their previous triumph getting freon banned over holes in the ozone layer….because at the time they didn’t realize that these holes occur naturally every spring and always have.
    This go round they made it up….it was not a misunderstanding based on incomplete data….
    These people are guilty of crimes against humanity.

  5. Hansen is a dangerous fraud, but the increase in temps has been validated by Muller’s BEST study. Muller is not a hack like Hansen.

  6. Average monthly temperature is the daily average temperature divided by the number of days in the month.
    Average daily temperature is calculated by adding the high and low temp of the day and dividing by two.
    And there is the rub of course, the obfuscation, the scheme, the scam. Because daily night low temps now are higher – UHI effect.
    You can actually have a day now that has a lower high temperature but a higher daily average temperature.
    So easy to confuse the rubes at CNN/NYT/CBC et al.
    Arithmetic . . . because even a journalist can do it if they try.

  7. The first time GWB was elected we witnessed the nonsense of hanging chads in Florida, where Dems only wanted to recount one county, which they knew was Democrat friendly. When their attempt to steal the presidential election failed, they went nuts, demonstrated by faker-in-chief Michael Moore’s ridiculous fake election, fake president rant at the Academy Awards.
    This may seem OT but it is not. Similarly, the Warmists only want to examine post 1940s data, when CO2 levels and temperatures both rose – note Hansen’s statistical “study” where he examines weather anomilies since 1950 only. Then they refuse to consider any other causation, like the sun, other than human inputs and then proclaim they have proof for AGW.
    Nothing, in any time frame, or any other possible reason for warming, other than AGW causes is considered and amazingly the conclusion is evil (Western) industrialization. When their studies and conclusions are shown to be the faulty junk science they are – apologists look for every flaw in the skeptic argument. Too bad they don’t do the same for Hansen’s and others’ ridiculous and fraudulent conclusions.
    What a joke. A science (maybe) in its infancy, climatology, assigns itself the rigour and precision of hard sciences when they are nowhere near that.
    Nobody is falling for this scam anymore. Pardon me if I offend anyone’s sensibilities but Jesus said that we will know the false prophets by their fruits. What are the “fruits” of the AGW movement – not reducing or eliminating pollution, not mitigating climate effects – no, they are simply after tax dollars and the power that accompanies them. The most egregious example is carbon taxes on, for example, gas. Apparently this will change behaviour – in a pig’s eye. Sorry, Mr Smith still drives his car/truck to Washington instead of taking the bus. The carbon taxes collected from him go to general revenues. Can anyone give a single example of carbon taxes actually used for the environment – to mitigate pollution (in China and India, for example) or develop effective energy technologies? There must be at least one – right?
    Maybe not. The fruit of the false AGW prophets is watermelon. Beware the use of this and other false narratives in the upcoming US election.

  8. Muller’s paper may confirm that temperatures have increased by 1.5C in the last 250 years but it needs peer review. Not that an increase in temperature was really in doubt. The actual amount, the causes and the political response is the real areas of contention.
    Muller’s paper needs to be viewed in conjunction with the Watt’s paper that asks more questions on how/why adjustment are made (like the ones in this post). Some of these adjustments appear to be spurious and what is really needed is some kind of forensic-style look at the data and adjustments. The trick is finding an unbiased group with a background in statistics and related sciences. Maybe a legal-style presentation in court by opposing groups looking at the same data, using their own experts and cross-examining each other would yield a better result. Science by press release and media spin certainly isn’t working.

  9. The “BEST” data is beset by problems as well. They suffer from confirmation bias, station siting issues, missing stations, etc. etc. None of this data can be trusted.

  11. Amazing, simply amazing how you boneheads still deny climate warming is happening and are blind that it is a bad thing that is going to mess up our lives. Logic just rolls of you deadheads like water off a duck’s back. Well it doesn’t matter anymore, we are royally screwed, we are ruined our planet and there is no going back. Shame on the baby boomer generation(of which I am a member) for allowing this to happen.

  13. It never ceases to amaze me that the rate of change of “global temperatures” exceeds the uncertainty of the temperature measurement device. Actually, since from my reading and experience that 3/4 of these divices are not clibrated, not properly claibrated, and not traceable to a recognized national standard, the measurement uncertainty vastly exceeds the politically determined results. I know. Been there, done that.

  14. I understand why you people are so not wanting to believe that we are reaching the tipping point climate wise. It is scary as hell and it is comforting to stick one’s head in a hole in the ground and pretend the problem is non-existent since it is out of sight. That’s ok, I just have a beef with all those, be they whore scientists in the pockets of greedy blind industry, writers, politicians, mad dog republicans(and their conservative ilk in Canada) and ignorant governments because they are instrumental in the erecting of effective road blocks to delay any meaningful action to counterbalance the excessive CO2 emmission problem. We all shall rue the lack of action. I guess massive droughts that appeared in various parts of the world over the last decade still is not enough to raise doubts in your minds, that you are wrong to all firmly believe the climate scientists are part of a leftist plot to ruin western civilization. Please give your heads a shake.

    Well that was interesting, at times comical reading. However the heating up doomsday predictions will still come to pass, they are just out by a couple of decades. The next 5 years, I am convinced, will make a believer in global warming out of you. Brace yourself.

  16. Canuckguy, there has been no statistically significant warming for about 14 years. Everyone, even Hansen, knows that the current drought and previous years heat waves are not indications of impending doom caused by CO2. CO2 *may* be a small factor but it is dwarfed by natural variability.
    Here, is just one criticism among many that rips apart the drought-AGW connection.

    Mankind probably causes warming but there is no reason to believe that your catastrophe porn is coming-Muller himself said so.

    You are the guy with the head in the sand. It is physically impossible for CO2 to cause global worming. Check the physical chemistry of the assumed cause and effect. The university whores in search of grants do the experiment in erlenmyer flasks and there CO2 has an effect. Not in the real world. We have a local star that has the most effect; we have oceans that buffer like heck; we have ocean curents that cyclically change local weather, etc. I have put atmospheric stations up all over the world and AGW is BS. The only reason to fight these global warming nuts is to keep them from bankrupting us and stealing our rights. AGW is just a librul pretense for gaining control of our money and our lives.
    Now canuckguy, what are your qualifications for making your knee jerk, stupid, statements?

  22. The earth has been much much warmer than this in the past and it’s never reached a overheating ‘tipping point’. It invariably ‘tips’ back to an ice age.
    What the AGW aficionados fail to understand is that the insulating properties of CO2 are non-linear. That’s basic thermodynamics; it’s not a subject that your average lieberal-arts major can grasp.

    What % of the air is CO2?
    Respondent’s Answers: nearly all were 20% – 40%, the highest was 75% while the lowest were 10%- 2%.
    The Correct Answer: CO2 is less than a mere four 100ths of 1%! As a decimal it is 0.038%. As a fraction it is 1/27th of 1%. (Measurements for CO2 vary from one source to another from 0.036%- 0.039% due to the difficulty in measuring such a small quantity and due to changes in wind direction e.g. whether the air flow is from an industrialized region or a volcanic emission etc)
    Nitrogen is just over 78%, Oxygen is just under 21% and Argon is almost 1%. CO2 is a minute trace gas at 0.038%. We all learnt the composition of the air in both primary and high school but because most people don’t use science in their day to day living, they have forgotten this. Also, the vast bulk of the population have very little knowledge of science so they find it impossible to make judgements about even basic scientific issues let alone ones as complex as climate. This makes it easy for those with agendas to deceive us by using emotive statements rather than facts.
    Brainwashing is so hard to undo.

    Please come back and tell us what convinced you. There are two sides to every story and two “experts” with opposing views in every doomsday scenario. You are a believer and frontline soldier for Suzuki and Gore so it’s important to know what convinced you that the sky is falling. Enquiring minds want to know !

  25. Fanatics for any cause by their very nature cannot be reasoned with. The sheer volume of evidence that has been made public in the last few years, showing scientific incompetence at the very least and outright fraud at the worst, can in no way alter the viewpoints of the true believers because their entire self image has been wrapped up in the cause.
    To criticize or doubt the cause, no matter the sheer weight of evidence, would by extension force the believers to criticize themselves and we as a people, in North America especially, have lost the ability to do that. It is far easier to maintain the belief and ignore and denigrate all opposing viewpoints than to admit that they are wrong.

    You consider my belief in global warming to be irrational. I feel the same way about your belief that nothing bad is happening and things will return to normal just like after the last great heat wave of the Dirty Thirties Dustbowl in the mid west USA. I just don’t believe that we are going to go back to normal, it is just going to get worse. Mark my words.

    I am no climate scientist, but I am a chemical engineer and can only listen and read both sides of the story and due to my more superior power of reasoning over the deadhead likes of you, I just come to agree with the obvious.
