So much psychiatric information in so few characters. Obviously hasn’t gotten past the magical thinking phase yet – usually this ends in childhood but it looks like infancy has been very prolonged in the most recent generation.
Then there’s the sleeping 14 hours/day. Definitely several standard deviations beyond what is considered to be a normal sleep time. This tells me that either:
(a) she’s a congenitally very long sleeper and thus will have major problems for the rest of her life
(b) she’s suffering from atypical depression which is accompanied by hypersomnia
(c) she’s a user of sedative/hypnotic drugs – have never understood why some people want to sleep their lives away with the help of sedatives.
(d) she’s infected with trypanomiasis.
In any event, unlikely to ever do much with her life except complain about how hard life is. When I was a student, my primary complaint was that there were only 24 hours in a day as there was so much to do and needing to sleep seemed like such a waste of time.

A few years ago I was walking home from downtown Halifax when I caught up with a group of students who had been directing a protest at the legislature against student debt (I assume that they were the leaders, because they had the megaphones.). The major topic of their conversation on the way back to Dalhousie was whether to go to Cuba or the Dominican Republic on their “Reading Break”.

The ONLY reason people lobby government is when they KNOW – perhaps from personal experience – that a majority of people would never willingly support the objective. Government is the ONLY place where peole can be FORCED to help achieve an objective.
Instead of lobbying government, which is [supposed to be] the people, why not ask your neighbours if they’d support you? While I may disagree with your objective, I have little difficulty with anyone spending their own time and money to achieve any objective, so long as it does not impede upon the freedom of others. So, if she wants to spend a big part of her college/university years doing this, great. Hopefully she will learn that you need to sell something people WANT to buy to be successful.
A lot of liberal university students learn, and turn into conservatives. Reality is one of the best teachers.

They all seem reasonable as things for a student union to fight for — maybe not get, but the idea is to look after the interests of your members. The Tweet was a joke. I think trying to make her the butt of a joke based on these two items is a cheap attempt to discredit her and unwarranted.

They’re not. We live in a society which increasingly infantilizes young people. We live in a society in which universities continue to preach Marxist gospel like a fetish. Young people today are far less capable of understandig the world around them than was the case 30 or more years ago because they are so buffered from it.
The rightful targets of SDA are the institutions and leaders that produce specimens such as Paige. She’s evidence for the prosecution, not the accused in the dock. Go after the real villains. Otherwise all you’re doing is inflicting meaningless torture on someone who has been thoroughly misled by an ethically bankrupt system.
