Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Brilliant Kate! As one who spent most of his career in the performing arts straightening out organizations on the financial ropes, I find myself more in tune with the minister, than with his deputy.
“During a decade as head of global cancer research at Amgen, C. Glenn Begley identified 53 “landmark” publications — papers in top journals, from reputable labs — for his team to reproduce. Begley sought to double-check the findings before trying to build on them for drug development.
Result: 47 of the 53 could not be replicated.”

only subsidize all poor univeristy students who
can not find job or not able to pay their loan after thier graduation because work and study are equal value and time consuming
because
artist and sport men are make lots of money from public otherwise they are not knows as artist and not need to get help from government
Just finished watching The Descendants. It’s a touching, very real story, with my beloved Hawaii as the backdrop.
Near the beginning of the film is this very wise quote that should hit some chords with most SDA regulars:
“I agree with my father, you give your children enough money to do something but not enough to do nothing.” – Matt King, George Clooney’s character in The Descendants
Take that to the societal level and isn’t that precisely what most conservatives are asking for in terms of welfare, not for the truly helpless, but for the self-imposed clueless?!
Yeah.
CBC has an article up about a recent George Stombopoulous show. Michael Mann was thw guest. I haven’t seen the show, but the article gives the impression that it was about the muzzling of scientists by the gov’t.
A quote from the article;
” He has also been the target of climate change skeptics for years, including those involved in the so-called climategate controversy, in which selected excerpts from stolen emails were used to try and discredit climate scientists and their work.”
http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/story/2012/03/29/video-strombo-michael-e-mann.html
“so-called climategate controversy”, something like the “so-called honour killings”. I doubt if George’s relationship with Mr.Suzuki’s foundation was brought up,maybe it was.
A 10% cut was not enough,FIRE.GEORGE.NOW.
I’m not sure if this is tied in with April Fools Day but it’s pretty hilarious! And if you go to http://maps.google.com and click on “Quest” in the upper-right corner, you can try it out for yourself!

Kate said “I never could figure out why my tax dollars should go to people so they can put on plays for their friends.”
It would be interesting if we could put Arts and Entertainment grants to a vote once a month. My guess is that here in Hamilton you would get AC/DC playing 12 times a year along with Skynard.
I don’t think that would necessarily be a bad thing.

Excerpt:
Mr. Obama knew that the mandate would pose difficulties for the Catholic Church, so he invited Archbishop Dolan to the Oval Office last November, shortly before the bishops’ General Assembly in Baltimore. At the end of their 45-minute discussion, the archbishop summed up what he understood as the president’s message:
“I said, ‘I’ve heard you say, first of all, that you have immense regard for the work of the Catholic Church in the United States in health care, education and charity. . . . I have heard you say that you are not going to let the administration do anything to impede that work and . . . that you take the protection of the rights of conscience with the utmost seriousness. . . . Does that accurately sum up our conversation?’ [Mr. Obama] said, ‘You bet it does.'”
The archbishop asked for permission to relay the message to the other bishops. “You don’t have my permission, you’ve got my request,” the president replied.
“So you can imagine the chagrin,” Archbishop Dolan continues, “when he called me at the end of January to say that the mandates remain in place and that there would be no substantive change, and that the only thing that he could offer me was that we would have until August. . . . I said, ‘Mr. President, I appreciate the call. Are you saying now that we have until August to introduce to you continual concerns that might trigger a substantive mitigation in these mandates?’ He said, ‘No, the mandates remain. We’re more or less giving you this time to find out how you’re going to be able to comply.’ I said, ‘Well, sir, we don’t need the [extra time]. I can tell you now we’re unable to comply.’

Top 10 April Fool’s News Reports
The thing is, and I’m being entirely serious here, in 2012 the Media Party has become so corrupt, so unprofessional, so lacking in objectivity that it has often become really difficult to determine what is a truthful news report and what is fiction.
I’m thinking that even George Orwell didn’t foresee April 1st being celebrated over & over throughout the year. 🙁

Robert W.,the Calgary Sun,about 20 years ago, had a full page ad showing a picture of a draft beer. The copy said that if you filled a glass with water, put the page into the glass and let it sit for a few hours, you would end up with actual beer.
Some fell for it,some even went to the newspaper boxes and ripped off all the papers.
P.T. Barnum was right.
I’ve always thought that the job of an artist is to somehow leave the audience richer than you found them. Not sure how that’s possible when you’ve stolen their wallets.

David Ben Gurion, the Founding Father of the Jewish State (UN Commission, 1947): “300 years ago, the Mayflower launched its historical voyage. Do many remember the exact data of the voyage, how many passengers were on the Mayflower and what kind of bread did they consume? However, 3,300 years earlier, the Exodus from Egypt took place. Every Jew knows the date of the Exodus – the 15th of the Jewish month of Nissan – and the kind of bread – Matza, unleavened bread – consumed. Until today, Jews all over the world tell the story of the Exodus and eat Matza on the 15th of Nissan. They conclude the story of the Exodus (Hagaddah) with the statement: “This year we are slaves, but next year we shall be liberated; this year we are here, but next year we shall be in the rebuilt Jerusalem.”
…”Only 150 generations have passed from the Pillar of Fire of the Exodus from Egypt to the pillars of smoke from the Holocaust….”
Hacker went to the London School of Economics, and is therefore a Labour MP/Prime Minister. It’s like saying he went to Berkeley. Notice Sir Humphrey’s Oxbridge contempt for the LSE, and Hacker’s slightly tongue-in-cheek class-baiting. “Why should the working man on the terraces foot the bill for the gentry in the stalls?” This debate isn’t really left vs. right in any old fashioned sense, since Humphrey is always completely reactionary.
I just read this piece by James Delingpole, about patronage vs. public funding.
